Forum ate my post from last night it seems. Martigan will continue to delay until the order is given to charge. Alternatively he has a flask of alchemist's fire, but I don't think we want the building going up while we're in it.

@Petrel: There are windows all about the manor, but most of them have been boarded up, or at least have the appearance of being boarded up.

Everyone continues to fire arrows or hold their breaths as they stand outside Cyrathas "throne room."

The elf looks a bit surprised.

"You destroy my door to stand in it and fire arrows at me? Gods save Greyhawk at the honor of your guild..."

Giving Petrel a last shot to act and delay before I advance to Round 3...

Petrel will fidget but wait for round three.

Crazy work continues so apologize for slower-than-usual updates... of course it happens on a combat you guys are all tentative on... I put in 16 hours this weekend, which doesn't sound so bad, except they were from 11pm-7am.

With Petrel's delay we go into Round 3...

After his comment, Cyrathas patiently moves away from his throne, keeping an eye on both Doruk and Aralynn.

Believe Aralynn was going into the room on 3...

Petrel will make an acrobatic leap over the oil soaked patch in U5.

Believe DC is 5, doubled since no room to run 10 feet.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

He can amazingly clear 10 feet so landing safely past the oil should be possible. He will double move to finish adjacent to Cyrathas.

Before Petrel gets to jump in her way.
Araylnn takes a 5' step to V3, breathes in, holds her breath, and takes two more shots at the man.

Doruk drops his bow and grabs his guisarme off the floor (standard?) as he yells.

"He's getting away, there's a trap door!"

He then tries to emulate Petrel's jump.

Acrobatics(jump) 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9

...but thanks to his armor manages to land in part of the oil soaked square in U 5 before closing to U 7, likely on fire.

Aralynn, wise to Cyrathas' plan, lines up her shot, and one of her arrows strikes true in the man's shoulder.

Petrel breaks the stalemate leaping into the room over the oil, but the elf ignites it anyway as flames leap up from the floor.

I'll say Petrel completely avoids it with his heroic leap.

Doruk attempts to emulate his new companion's leap, but finds himself short, landing directly in a patch of the hot fire.

He's standing right next to the ladder. It goes up. Preventing him from climbing is likely a grapple roll versus his CMD.

Martigan still has a full round action.

"Yeah, if it's a trap door, go stand on it. It's unlikely that that noodle will be able to lift you off."

Mukluk will try to move to T6 trying to deftly jump the flames (whether or not it helps).

When there, he will ready a spell to cast if he hears or sees Cyrathas cast.

Declining to engage in thrilling acrobatics, Martigan moves to the doorway and begins creating water to put out the fire.

In other news, are you taking your AoO's on the howler? Also, since Cyrathas's ready went off, I believe he's after me now.

Aralynn lets out a slow breath as an arrow finally hits. Then Petrel leaps over the flames. Circus. I've definitely joined the cirucs. She steadies herself as Doruk tries to duplicate Petrel's leap. I'm going to have to have a talk with that man! She tries to keep her breathing steady, but all the acrobatics breaks her concentration.

Mukluk moves into position, racing across the flames while Martigan puts out the fire next to Cyrathas. Two more of Aralynn's arrows fly wide into the room, narrowly missing Petrel as they thunk into the far wall

The elf moves onto the wet rug, cleared of fire by the Pelorite and you notice a snaking red tattoo on his body glow with light as flames gush out from his outstretched hands at Petrel and Doruk.

Cyrathas continues his attack without a word.

Well that wasn't what I wanted but Doruk's AoO should hurt the little caster.

Martigan continues to clear fire, hopefully to his allies benefit this time.

Ah, I saw your Acrobatics roll and assumed you moved at half-speed (so covered 20ft with a full round action). I see now you did a standing jump into the flames as part of the move action.

You all witness as flames begin to spray out from Cyrathas' outstretched hands. He says nothing but smiles confidently as he prepares to watch the roasting of Doruk and Petrel.

Instead you see him lose his footing, stumbling forward a bit as the flames sputter out without any harm.

This causes the otherwise silent man to yell something in Elvish.

Ah, I guess I got it confused with your Acid Cloud. You and your little-used-spells-being used.

Yes, Doruk gets an AoO with the polearm if it's handy. And his natural 1 on the concentration check stands if Doruk can hit him.

Doruk excitedly swings with his readied Guisarme to try and block the spell.

Petrel will follow this elfy fellow by moving a five foot step into W7 and then stabbing at the guy.

Just when it appears Cyrathas spell is about to sputter, he bites his lip, regains his concentration and flames wash over Doruk and Petrel.

You hear a satisfied snort from the elf as this happens.

In case you hadn't figured it out from various rolls so far, Cyrathas is currently AC20.

Martigan will continue his work as part of the Living City Volunteer Fire Brigade, or LCVFB, by putting out the fire in front of him.

Doruk tries to dodge the flaming fingers of doom. 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 vs DC 14 - fails!

Doruk quaffs his potion of Cure Light Wounds to try to stop the bleeding (move to take it out, standard to drink it).

Cure Light Wounds for 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

If I'm understanding right. Martigan doused W6 in the last round and Cyrathas moved there. Now Martigan has doused the square in front of himself, V5(?), which will allow Cyrthas to 5' into Martigan's face.

"Martigan! Is there a reason you're leading the fire blasting man to us?" Araylnn steps up to the square doused by Martigan so she doesn't have to shoot around the big lug.

Doruk, aglow in the flames licking up the oil in the room, draws a flask and quaffs it while Martigan extinguishes yet more of the flames.

Aralynn, giving the cleric a look moves into the open position before Cyrathas can and repays the sorcerer with an arrow launched 3 feet directly into his shoulder.

He responds to this with a soft grunt and a pained expression.

Cyrathas, with mechanical precision reaches into a pocket on the inside of his cloak, pulls out a bottle of his own, uncorks and downs it's contents.

2d8 + 3 ⇒ (4, 6) + 3 = 13

With it's contents emptied, he rewards Aralynn with a wry grin that seems to communicate - If we weren't enemies, I would take you to bed...

Doruk goes for the trip to stop the foe from moving about and give us some advantage. As I see it he gets a flank from Aralynn (a monk is always armed).

Petrel happily takes a swipe at Cyr as he drinks a potion:

Yes, Petrel got an AoO. I had you still 5ft away on the map, but Cyr's surrounded anyway, so not that he could've moved 5ft somewhere to avoid it...

I don't think he expected the headbutt, either!

The question is, where did you guys get your flank from? I've triple checked Aralynn last moved to V,5 and Petrel last moved to W,6

This affects the headbutt and the possible sneak attack damage, which for Petrel requires someone to be in the fire at (W,5).

I was just echoing the other person, but upon reflection it wouldn't have been possible as my flank was a wall.

Thought the water clearing / Aralynn movement created a flank - we didn't have a map then, looks like I was wrong.

Alas, I really wanted Aralynn's headbutt to connect and be the spark that ignites the flame of "headbutt instead of archery" jokes for years to come.

Aralynn and Petrel both try to stop Cyrathas from quaffing his potion, but the elf swerves to-and-fro and avoids their attacks.

One of Petrel's knives catches the sorcerer in the loin while Martigan's water saturates more of the room's floor. At this point, most of the oil has burnt off and just small non-harmful flames sizzle in the absence of further fuel.

Two more of Aralynn's arrows stray wide from their intended target, causing Petrel to wonder just who the half-elf is really shooting at.

As Mukluk expected, Cyrathas resumes his casting and Mukluk attempts to punish him for the act.

Cyr Fort vs Acid Cloud DC13: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Mukluk's Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Cyr Concentration Check DC13 (to avoid AoOs from Doruk, Petrel and Aralynn): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22

Cyr Concentration Check DC17 (to cast after taking 4 damage from M.M.): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13

MM: Pick either Aralynn or Petrel to affect by the Acid Cloud. They get to make a Ford DC13 save or take 4 damage and be sickened (or only 2 if they make the save).

Flames begin to pour from Cyrathas' hands again as he smirks at Petrel and Doruk, but they are cut short as a cloud of acid explodes onto the elf. The elf frowns at his hands, then gives Mukluk a glance filled with utter, irredeemable hatred as he begins to choke on it.

The spell is interrupted!

Now Up: Everyone!

Araylnn fires two more arrows wide of her mark. The masters said the bow would teach me patience. I should have stuck to punching people.
