by Liane Merciel

For Wendlyn, the coastal logging town of Otari provides more opportunities for mischief than true adventures, but that's about to change. When she and her friend Eleukas, a member of the village guard, stumble across a horrible accident on the outskirts of town, they soon find themselves embroiled in a mystery that will take them far beyond the safety of their hometown. With the help of Wendlyn's sister—an acolyte of the goddess of healing—and an unlikely goblin ally, the young heroes are all that stands in the way of a sinister plot that could impact not just Otari, but the entire world.

From fan-favorite author Liane Merciel (Nightglass, Nightblade, and Hellknight) comes a gritty tale of fledgling adventurers taking their first steps into a dangerous world, set in the award-winning world of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. Originally published in serialized form in Paizo's weekly newsletter.

Great Writing and Great Otari Supplement

5/5

I don't normally read fiction, especially fantasy fiction, but I did pick this up as I was trying to round out setting prep for Otari - as I was running Abomination Vaults.

I greatly appreciate this for what it does to round out Otari but I, surprisingly, really loved it for the writing and the story. The presentation of the main characters and their strengths, weaknesses and personal obstacles is really well done. I was so attached to these characters so quickly that I immediately made tokens for them (using their beautiful artwork on the Paizo blog) and added them to Foundry for use in Abomination Vaults/Troubles. Far from a set of iconic adventurers this young group has to learn as they go and they find their way. I would be excited to read further exploits and watch more of their character growth.

I am very excited to hear more of these are being worked on and I'll likely subscribe to them early on rather than missing the boat and buying on my Kindle.

I've noticed that the Product Code is PZOTEB0072E, while the last epub pubished in 2013 was PZOTEB0046E. Does that perhaps mean that we might finally get these missing epub compilations?

Dark Archive

I believe it was mentioned we would get the stats for the rest of the cast when this went up for sale?

The blog is very full at the moment, but we have the stats ready to go when there's a spot in the schedule and I have the time to edit them. We didn't want to delay getting this up for those who missed it while it was in the mailing list queue, since it's now been replaced there by "Misery's Company."

The product codes between these two are in fact already assigned to web fiction and Pathfinder's Journal novellas that were never completed and released. Because of how we organize files on our production server, it made more sense to use the next code in the sequence here rather than reassign unpublished material. I'd love to get the missing fiction content up for sale, but we don't currently have someone with the bandwidth to produce those files, so it'll have to wait.

Thanks, Mark, Well, if you just need someone who creates these epub files... I know how to do that... :)

No, really. These are not imminent. They are far from our top priority, and are merely "it'd be nice if..." project. Please don't hold your breath, as I can't take responsibility for any injury or death that could occur as a result.

So read that as a big "maybe" in ten years, but unlikely. Got it.

I hope to have them out by the end of the year, but yes, "maybe" is a key part of anything involving our back catalogue of short fiction. That said, if this sells really well, we can probably make a case for prioritizing old fiction higher in the overall scheme of things. So buy, buy, buy, and tell your friends. (It's also on the Kindle store, for folks who want it instantly added to their reading device.)

Sold.

$5 is not too bad, even though I already read all parts through my mails.

Just a reminder to complete the blog's description of the book's protagonists now that the epub is up.

We are slowing rolling them out. The market for IP-based fiction is not good (per my sister who is a library book-buyer and sees all that is available) and Mark is a champion.
