All the same color

2/5

Having the cards all the same color limits their functionality. The PF1 cards had a different color for each condition, so it was easy to organize and faster to find the condition you were after.

Pathfinder condition cards are constantly being used at my table. I'm hoping these contain a few of each like the Pathfinder set.

That's a safe expectation!

I look forward to discovering how Perception, Stealth and Invisibility are handled in Starfinder :-)

I expect it will either be a be a fairly obvious, sneaky or transparent process! ;P

I can see how they'll do the first but I'm not sure I see how they'll handle the second. As for the third, well it's all a little hard for me to pinpoint what they'll do there. ;P

Dark Archive

It´s definetly cool that a new cards set is produced by Paizo after all this time.

I hope this will lead to more card packs being produced in the future. :-)

Since the alien archive is a much smaller set of monsters than a typical bestiary, perhaps it provides an opportunity for monster cards? Picture on one side and a few increasing DC knowledge check results on the back.

That's a great idea, the fact that the Bestiaries themselves don't offer such tables is understandable due to space reasons, but cards would work really well.

A lot of people that i know have been asking for such easy to reference tables...

Will there be any difference between Pathfinder conditions and Starfinder conditions? Can I use the Pathfinder condition card deck until I can get the Starfinder one?

Well there is a buy.

Many of the conditions have changed, so I wouldn't use the Pathfinder one with Starfinder.

Are a few (maybe 5) card art previews on the table? ;-)

Do these have crit damage for ships?

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

These are all about character conditions.

Dark Archive

Will there be either some preview samples or a set list before release?

I count these conditions:

01 Asleep
02 Bleeding
03 Blinded
04 Burning
05 Confused
06 Cowering
07 Dazed
08 Dazzled
09 Dead
10 Deafened
11 Dying
12 Encumbered
13 Entangled
14 Exhausted
15 Fascinated
16 Fatigued
17 Flat-Footed
18 Frightened
19 Grappled
20 Helpless
21 Nauseated
22 Off-Kilter
23 Off-Target
24 Overburdened
25 Panicked
26 Paralyzed
27 Pinned
28 Prone
29 Shaken
30 Sickened
31 Stable
32 Staggered
33 Stunned
34 Unconcious

It seems that being "invisible" is a condition too, at least as far as these cards are concerned. ;-)

So that makes 35 different images plus some doubles i guess.

Though there could also be: charging, fighting defensively, total defense, running, delaying, readying an action could also be "conditions".

It's everything on your numbered list plus invisible and incorporeal.

It seems to me a set of cards for starship combat is a pretty good idea, though. Just in case you aren't already working on it...

I imagine if this set sells well, there is room for more Starfinder cards.
I hope it does well.

Why are we getting 3 of each card except Invisible/Incorporeal which has only 2?

Grand Lodge

Received my cards and they look very nice. Though I am disappointed that for whatever reason, one set (of the three) is shorted one card (invisible/Incorporeal). It does have 53 cards as advertised, but with 18 cards (36 conditions) per set, 3 sets, should have been 54 cards. Dunno why that happened, but it does damper my excitement for them a bit

Odd. Then again, many of the StarFinder accessories have had weird little quirks. I would love to find out what happened...but I kinda doubt we will.

Still buying a set. :)

You just didn't realize it was there because you couldn't see it or touch it.

How many other cards are in the box? If it has 2 cards worth of rules explanations or something else, that would explain why there are only 53 condition cards. Card sheets come in multiples of 55 or 110 (at the printer that Paizo uses). This means the total size of the product has to be some multiple of 55. If it needed 2 cards to explain everything, and still have 54 cards, then you suddenly have 54 more blank slots to fill with cards and to expand the product to 110 cards (or else you're wasting a lot of paper). See also this post (although it relates to the ACG, it applies to any card product Paizo makes).

If there's only 1 other card (for 54 total), then that is perplexing.

It has the OGL and a 'rules' card making it up to 55

Will they make combat cards for regular combat and spaceship combat?

Right. So we're looking to put 55 cards into the box, and we need to use 2 of those to fit the rules and the OGL, so that leaves 53 slots.

If you count up all of the conditions in the Core Rulebook, you'll find that there are 34; invisible and incorporeal are not on the list. Since each card has two sides, it fits two conditions, so a full set of the listed conditions is 17 cards. 3 sets of 17 comes to 51 cards, which means we have 2 more cards to fill.

We *could* have left those 2 spaces blank and had the printer throw them out while collating, but we instead decided to put the not-quite-conditions invisible and incorporeal on a card and give you 2 copies of it. (The printing costs would be the same either way; this way added the price of two pieces of art to our cost of goods.)

So while you might see it as "leaving out" 1 card, we see it as adding 2 extras.

What sort of cards do you envision for starship combat?

A picture with information about the type on one side (like Thaumtech Necroglider, Affiliation: Corpse Fleet, Crew: one...)

and a picture of shields/hull points on the other, together with relevant info like weapon damage, pilot bonus, maneuverability...

These would be really handy, as looking up every single ship and what kind of bonus which system provides is a real pain, especially when you have a spacefight with multiple ships.

How about including various space combat actions?

Hard to read, its a good Idea gone so wrong, whose idea was it to use dark blue ink on a black background. If you roleplay in dim light, are color blind or have low vision you might want to rethink buying these. I got mine at my local game store so at least the money is helping a local family. I hope when Paizo remakes this item they do better.
