A Starfinder Society Quest designed for levels 3-6 (subtiers 3-4 & 5-6).

The Triaxian city of Cadascon fell into ruin during the events of the Gap and since that time explorers have sought to uncover what happened. Finally, after centuries of trepidation by other organizations, the Starfinder Society has assembled a great expedition to inspect the outer edges of the devastated landscape. What horrors lie hidden past the borders of the sulfurous city and what power does its mysterious crystals portend for the future of Triaxus?

A serviceable first story segment

3/5

This story content probably would have made more sense for part 1 of a traditional 3 part adventure from campaigns past. As was, this felt like it introduced a brand new and potentially interesting plot just to tear away the rug as it got even a little interesting.

The NPC interactions at the beginning were unique and fun but without seeing any more of the narrative it felt like wasted effort. Just as you get to know these people they become irrelevant and go away.

I guess it's best to be left wanting more, but I don't feel like I accomplished much of anything in this scenario.

Solidly written

5/5

Full credit to the writer.

A well put together scenario with some of the better 'social encounter' dynamics seen in a scenario, and NPCs you can actually feel invested in. They are three dimensional and they 'made sense'.

Really worthwhile.

Interesting!

5/5

This scenario deserves all 5 stars for the uniquely interesting NPC mechanics as well as the decision-making required of the PCs. I also want to give a shout to a defense style of combat setup that is almost never seen in scenarios which gives a highlight to some PCs that are normally in the background.

3/5

I felt the scenario started a good plot"line" but the encounter felt slightly undertuned as the CR was too far below us.

Spoiler:
I felt the saving of the allies was a bit undervalued in the secondary sucess condition.

Ran for PaizoCon

5/5

I enjoyed running this for PaizoConOnline 2020. My players played high tier no adjustment with 6 players (2 3rd levels, 3 5th levels, 1 6th level). They did awesome at everything! Had the skills and damage type needed to be successful but still had to spend some RP to heal up. They caused a chain reaction in one encounter on the last map that was just hilarious to resolve. Love the Venture Captain!

Just ran this for PaizoCon2020. Wanted to note that there (I assume) is a typo with the stat block for the creatures on page 12.
The

Creature and Saves:
Ryphorian Crystal Skeletons show the following saves Fort +4; Ref +4; Will +41 not sure that will is correct for CR2.

That does seem a few points high.
