No Box

2/5

Organizing pawns is a giant pain, especially when they come in US letter format which is unobtainium in Europe. Shipping no box makes this even worse. Apart from that continues with the ridiculous low amount of often used pawns, making them unusable at the table. Jesus Christ Paizo, what your doing.

Good but with the same issue as Heroes & Villains

5/5

I found the collection to be as good as the previous one. Paying ~10$ less for no box and no bases is a good deal IMO, but it should have been communicated better, maybe right on the cover. There might be some marketing rule about not placing negatives at the most visible places, but customer agency is more important in my book.

Box sorely missing

3/5

The pawns are as good and complete as one has come to expect from Paizo, but the rest is not: There are no bases and there is no box. While I don’t mind not getting any additional bases, the lack of a box means that the pawns will fall out and are much easier to lose. What was ‘kind of’ ok with the few sheets of Game Mastery Pawns is no longer ok when you get 20 sheets of pawns in a loose paper wrap. I truly hope the Bestiary 3 pawns will come in a box again.

Announced for August! Product image and description are not final and may be subject to change.

I really love the change that this is only a collection.

I already have enough bases and i am glad that here are no bases included.

How strongly would other GMs recommend Pathfinder 2 pawns if I have a substantial collection from the first edition already?

Will this box include more than 1 or 2 pawns per monster?

I like the pawns. When will the bestiaty cards be available?

In practice, owning Bestiaries 1-4 from PF1 days, I have over 90% of the pawns in PF2's Bestiary 1 and 2 already.

Not sure what you have in your collection, but if you have these from PF1:
Bestiary 1, 2
Monster Codex
Summoned Critters (or whatever that set is)

I think you don't really NEED the new sets, unless you really want the new creatures. Krooths and all.

I bought the new Bestiary 1 set, probably won't buy the Bestiary 2 set as I'm up to my ears in pawns and really can't store more. Unless perhaps I decide to offload many of the PF1 sets to make room...

new art work is well worth it

I noticed that this box don't have the " second edition" mark in the corner like the 1st box. Is there a reason for that? Also, the old ones are called "Bestiary X box" and the 2nd ed is called "bestiary x, pawn collection". Is that how we now know which edition it belongs to? If that's the case, it's not very intuitive for new collectors like me.

Might just be that this is not the final picture. The « not final » picture for the Advanced Player’s Guide was also missing that « second edition » tag at the top, but the final product has it.

Yep for some reason that's not the final cover pic. I'll see if we can get it updated.

Sorry for the confusion. This is the final cover but these ARE the Pathfinder 2nd Edition pawns. We will be adding the 2E swipe to future printings and to the B3 pawns to help avoid confusion.

just got this in the mail, was so excited until I noticed it didn't come in a box. Just some dust cover for it. Will this this be the norm from now on? Cause the boxes were really important in keeping these things organized.

Oh, wow. No more box?

Yes, aside from Bestiary 1 Pawns, these are all collections. This change allows us to reduce our costs and the MSRP by removing the box and bases and reduce our production time by more than a month (and made it a simpler process as well).

While I also use the boxes for storage, I do appreciate both the lower price and not having to buy unwanted bases.

I use 1-gallon zip shut bags for non-boxed pawn sets. It's not as neat and orderly of a shelf, but I don't have to deal with the box lid/bottom as I'm flipping though them either. I like the reduction in costs and time, but I'd really love to see these printed states side, even if the price was a little higher. Just my pair of coppers, take em or leave em.

We would be looking at a doubling of price if we moved the manufacturing to the states and that would spell the end of pawns.

Wowzer. So when I open this up in my mail which is a total let down. The fact is I use the figures which means now I will end up needing a zip lock baggy to store them. No big deal but I sort of like to show off my collection! Way to go Paizo for charging me 40 bucks plus shipping for a massive dud! Maybe you should release a box for these or give the option at-least! You are making it almost easier for me to drop my subscriptions!

Were the pawns blank?

Well, for the lower price I plan to use some sheet protectors and binders to store these. Cost will come out the same/cheaper in the long run and IMHO will be much more functional to peruse, show-off, and actually use.

In other words, I invite the change for the lower cost.

Here's an example video I got the idea from

If you've already thrown away the cardboard sprues then some people use different type of protectors. Like business card pages for small/medium pawns. Here's a post on that

I bought this for pawn storage. A bit expensive, but worth it IMO. I'll probably need a couple more eventually.

The pawn for the Hamatula Devil has the art for the Osyluth devil on it. My guess is because the Osyluth art is on the same page as the beginning of the Hamatula entry.

Kind of a shame, the Hamatula art is reeeeeally good. But I guess I have an excuse to homebrew a bone... bat... scorpion... creature now?

Yes.
