The heroes bring their Circus of Wayward Wonders to the city of Escadar to capitalize on their newfound fame and skills. But old enemies lurk in the city, including the cruel Mistress Dusklight and her Celestial Menagerie. Investigating the looming xulgath threat in a shuttered temple to Aroden, the dead god of humanity, the heroes learn that all their foes are working together. The revelation forces them to enter the Celestial Menagerie to bring the evil ringmaster to justice.

"Legacy of the Lost God" is a Pathfinder adventure written by Jenny Jarzabski for four 5th-level characters. This adventure continues the Extinction Curse Adventure Path, a six-part, monthly campaign in which the heroes lead a traveling circus as they unravel a plot to eradicate all life from the islands of the Inner Sea. This adventure also includes information about catfolk of Golarion and the villainous xulgaths, as well as new monsters and circus-themed rules.

Each monthly full-color softcover Pathfinder Adventure Path volume contains an in-depth adventure scenario, stats for several new monsters, and support articles meant to give Game Masters additional material to expand their campaign. Pathfinder Adventure Path volumes use the Open Game License and work with both the Pathfinder RPG and the world's oldest fantasy RPG.

Great sequel to book 1

5/5

It had everything - mystery, exploration, suspense. And it's very well written and organized imo.

Rating mostly for articles and art buuut :3

5/5

Yeah liked adventure itself lot too. Though I do kinda find it funny that since both this and Age of Ashes are "only single bestiary has been released" APs, them both having random bargest in one of side content is notable to me.

But yeah, I still like map art and am looking forward to seeing it in high detail in roll20 :3 I also like how much detail all Celestial Menagerie members got. Kinda sad that Wayward Wonder members from first book didn't get as much detail, but this is really helpful for planning PCs' friends from their old circus in zero session. My only complain about adventure itself is that it doesn't have space to tell what happens to Mazavel if they stand down

But yeah, xulgath and catfolk article :3 All of three page sized pictures are super duper pretty and cool(I want to see the crow monster made out of crows in later books :D) Xulgath article did good job of fleshing out xulgath culture and history and non evil xulgaths, so I hope we see this lore in future too and not just ignored. Catfolk lore is also really helpful for cat folk characters and it was cool to learn non Murraseth amurrun :3 From bestiary itself I find it funny Bogeymen have now pokemon evolution line and "moon mole" is great.

Oh yeah and Mistress Dusklight is such a fun villain I'm kinda sad as starter villain they are out for good :D

Don't get too excited. There is a single catfolk NPC of minor importance in part 3 of this AP.

I just received my PDF for the subscriptions and when I downloaded it it didnt have interactive maps like the previous books, is there going to be some for this book?

Silver Crusade

I believe they’re currently in the single file per chapter download? I could be misremembering though.

I'm a little sad that there's no rules for catfolk in this issue, just the article. My partner's a big fan of catfolk and I was hoping there'd be rules so she could play one.

It's only a few more months before the arrival of the Advanced Player's Guide, which definitely will have them.

Yeah, and if these rules were anywhere else than in a major hadcover book, people would go all angry about having to buy a second episode of an adventure path that does nothing for them apart from catfolk ancestry.

Just few months until the APG, it will be a breeze.

I just buy everything so I don't have to worry about missing anything. That's just me though, others may have differing opinions.

For those who have the Book, what new creatures are in the bestiary?

Soooo both xulgat and catfolk articles are awesome and have some of best opening pictures ever :O

I can't tell what fiend that is in catfolk article though? Is that new one or maybe I just don't remember all fiends on top of my head?

Also since new performers are people you recruit from the other circus, they have nicely more personality than boo 1e performers.. Which is still unfortunate how little we know about some of them besides their names xD

But yeah book feels like improvement on book 1 and definitely lots of things you would want to share with pcs when they create their characters since lot of circus members have been stuck there for long time xD

What is the settlement level of Escadar?

I really love that the 2e Boogeyman got a 'evolution' line. And with suitably creepy at to go with!

I was asking for a numeric level, but thank you.

So, when I click on the "Add PDF" option, I keep getting a response that says "Your request produced an error" and it won't place the item in my cart. I've tried over the last couple of days both with my Norton VPN on and switched off. Please help.

Quite a few people are having the same problem.

Many have had success using a private window. Maybe it'll work for you, too?

Good luck.

I will say that despite loving Mistress Dusklight (and especially the cover) and I'm incredibly grateful for the article on Catfolk I think it was a misstep not including at least the bare bone rules for catfolk for 2nd edition.

Said the guy that now has to homebrew his own catfolk rules until August.

That said, I love everything in this book, keep up the good work!

Vesk

Coincidence?

I legitimately don’t know the answer but am similarly curious!

Dark Archive

Sounds like coincidence to me

I am pretty sure it is not a coincidence OOC because it is such a perfect hook for conspiracy theories. Also the article's writer (post above yours) did not know the answer, which means it was provided as an input and is not one of the writer's creations.

Note though that it can still be just a coincidence IC.

3 IC possibilities :

1) The Vask empire of the Xulgaths ended up reaching for the stars, like the Azlanti Star Empire, or maybe some xulgaths were brought to space by the Azlanti. And these became the progenitors of the Vesk Empire.

2) The Xulgaths originated as members of the Vesk abducted and placed within the vault that ended up being called Vask.

3) The conquering space empire of reptilian warriors called the Vesk and the conquering subterranean empire of reptilian warriors called Vask are completely unrelated.

Alas I do not know enough lore, especially Starfinder one, to go beyond this.

Dark Archive

They don't sound really similar though even with one letter difference though.

Like umm, besides one being LE(or LN at best) and another being CE, there are lot of similar examples of similar names and concepts both in Pathfinder and real life and only similar connection I can think of is Nergal/Nurgal

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I'm pretty sure it's a coincidence (remember when everything had "Carrion" in it somewhere) as there is not a lot of similarities between the two besides both being lizard like.

Liberty's Edge

Note that the original Vask Xulgaths were vastly different from today's Xulgath, mentally, physically, socially and technologically.

Regarding the interactive maps, the

secret doors in Lower Moonstone Hall
are still visible after hitting the "Map Tags Off" button. I've downloaded it twice, and they're still there. Was this done on the wrong layer? Is there a replacement anywhere?
