The heroes have sent the Swarm into disarray, but the entity called the God-Host still stands on the verge of completing its plans. To ensure an end to the threat, the heroes at last return to their overrun homeworld—but this time with the might of an entire military behind them! Only by finally defeating the massive God-Host can the PCs break the will of the Swarm army and bring peace back to Suskillon!

"The God-Host Ascends" is a Starfinder Roleplaying Game adventure for four 11th-level characters. This adventure concludes the Attack of the Swarm! Adventure Path, a six-part, monthly campaign in which the heroes fight back against a ruthless and nigh-unstoppable alien invasion. This volume also includes an article on continuing the Adventure Path's story with new threats, an assortment of new military vehicles, and a selection of new Swarm monsters and other deadly threats.

Each monthly full-color softcover Starfinder Adventure Path volume contains a new installment of a series of interconnected science-fantasy quests that together create a fully developed plot of sweeping scale and epic challenges. Each 64-page volume of the Starfinder Adventure Path also contains in—depth articles that detail and expand the Starfinder campaign setting and provide new rules, a host of exciting new monsters and alien races, a new planet to explore and starship to pilot, and more!

A great finale

5/5

There were a few nitpicky things I could write here about some of the motivations of some of the characters. The main things that jumped out at me were:

1. The Nuclear Reactor scene is unclear on what the characters should "do about it". Okay, there's a radiation demon murdering people within the reactor itself, but it's not at risk of melting down at all, so that's kind of a "Let's deal with this later" kind of problem.

2. The motivation for Dardrielle Althaset to head up the beachhead near the Hylaxian Temple is odd. It says that if things go badly with the invasion she'll retreat to a mountain estate a few dozen miles away but that's like saying that if nuclear war breaks out you'll just head down to the pub, grab a pint, and wait until this all blows over. It's not gonna help.

3. The Nightbat mercenaries are a complete pushover as written.

But the finale is great. The God-Host is a great opponent. Difficult but not impossible. What a ride this AP was.

I will always be comparing this AP to Warhammer 40Ks Tyrannids - let's see how it holds up.

On another note: I really hope we will get something special for volume #25 in february.
If it is another six part campaign going from level 1 to 13, i am out (especially if it is another mage-tech hybrid taking place in only one planetary location, like Dawn of Flame)!

If you want people to embrace Starfinder like Pathfinder, do a (three-part?) AP for higher levels.

Our group wanted to go back and play Pathfinder again, after "Dead Suns" started out great in volumes 1-3, but became a boring combat-slog in volumes 4-6.

If only the Pact Worlds had a party of 11th level characters available when they were attacked by the Swarm things might have been a lot less painful.

Dark Archive

Getting dem zerg vibes :D

But yeah, I guess God-Host is higher level than 12 creature, but PCs have army with them so that evens it out

It’s just dumb that max level 13 APs are addressing existential system threatening foes. Dead Suns had the same problem - why was a CR 20 starship not full of multiple CR 20 officers?

Just what we need...a Swarm "God".

Which Suskillon system planet appears in this issue's Codex of Worlds?

Developer

It's Echidea, the closest planet to the system's sun!

So when is this getting updated?

Dark Archive

Oh hey it got updated.

I like the god host, but I think it needs more blindingly glowing light behind its back :D

I’m gonna be honest, I didn’t expect it to look like an insecticide hydra with Halos.

But I love it!

... can I base an Aasimar off of it?

Yeah—our back cover text has become a lot simpler for many products, and now (more or less) assumes that you have the actual book in your hand, so it doesn't need to tell you things you can learn from the table of contents and so on. That means it's not always suitable for paizo.com product pages anymore, so there's a new step in the process: once the book has gone to the printer, we'll reevaluate the existing text on the website and specifically update it only if needed.

Does anyone have their subscriber copy or would it be too early for that?

Silver Crusade

Yeah Authorizations start today and shipping should start Wednesday I believe.

Does anyone have the PDF yet? What is the final back cover text?

So what is the God-Host's CR anyhoo? :O

In the most surprising reversal of any AP we've ever done, it's CR is 4!

Okay, it's not 4. It's 3.75 times that. And like any aspiring deity/invasion commander, it isn't encountered alone!

If it is actually(and not a joke that it is) CR 15 and not solo encounter, players better hope they really do have an army with them :D

I have my copy, but given Vic Wertz's comment upthread, I am specifically not answering this question.

I'll answer others though. As an example, Ron was indeed not joking.

No, none of these creatures have statistics for player characters. The Xaraian is only listed as the CR 18 mystic.

What's the ship on the inside covers?

In addition, what's its tier and base frame?

Huh. Upon reading this one's continuing the campaign articles, I've realized that ALL of the APs so far have this format with the articles: One really compelling high level adventure continuing themes of adventure

Examples:
(in Dead Suns its an atrocity trying to use the mechanism that hided the super weapon itself as super weapon, in Agaisnt the Aeon Throne its relative of the big bad coming for revenge, in Dawn of Flame its facing Malikah and as you can guess in this case its taking fight to the heart of the swarm)
and one lower level random adventure caused somehow by the AP but not directly related to the main bad guys .-.
Examples:
(in Dead Suns that is outsider from abaddon getting released in accident, in Dawn of Flame is Eshtayiv's Voice making contact with PCs, in this case its Hylax's related)

And wow, Xarar and Xararians are interesting O_o They are ruled by powerful spellcasters that suppress both technological development and organized religion in fear of peasants(aka everyone who isn't part of the magical ruling elite) gaining power to overthrow them, so they were REALLY freaked out by Triune's drift signal xP

The most important thing nobody has mentioned:

This book has military vehicle article.

One of those military vehicles is dropship.

You can finally make scene of players gaining access to massive gunship to fight a colossal monster or players being attacked by vehicle and fighting it on foot from cover in place it can't fly freely at :D

(heavy dropship is level 18 vehicle and tactical dropship is level 11 vehicle so both of them pack punch!)

I have a tendency to wait to get my physical copies before I dig into things, and I just got my latest shipment last night!

I loved the Military Vehicle article an awful lot. The only thing I couldn't figure out last night is what makes a Stealth Enercycle "Stealth" :P

Dropships in particular are awsome though CorvusMask!

The "stealth system" of the stealth enercycle is described on page 136 of Armory. Basically, the rider can use their Stealth skill to hide with the vehicle at the listed penalty (usually only when stationary though).

Oh, and I am so glad people are enjoying the vehicles article! We weren't super sure what else to put in this volume at the end of a campaign, but Anthony Bono knocked it out of the park!

Thanks! I'll admit, I somehow completely missed the "stealth" system entry on my original flip through :)
