Comet And Get It

The heroes must hunt for an icy comet hurtling through the void, the supposed home of a secret monastery dedicated to the insect goddess Hylax. Once there, they'll have to gain the trust of the inhabitants by undertaking a series of trials. If they succeed, they will be granted access to a powerful artifact that will aid in the battle against the ravenous, nigh-unstoppable Swarm. But before the monks can entrust the item to the PCs, the comet is besieged by waves of Swarm creatures eager to get the artifact for themselves!

This volume of Starfinder Adventure Path continues the Attack of the Swarm! Adventure Path and includes:

  • “The Forever Reliquary,” a Starfinder adventure for 7th-level characters, by Kate Baker.
  • A look at the Church of Hylax and its worshippers from the Pact Worlds and beyond, as well as a new mystic connection for those devoted to the Forever Queen, by Eleanor Ferron.
  • An exploration of several monasteries found across the galaxy, by Anthony Bono.
  • An archive of alien creatures, including a demonic saboteur and a pair of new and deadly Swarm creatures, by Kate Baker, Anthony Bono, Kevin Bryan, and Nate Wright.
  • Statistics and deck plans for a cramped military destroyer, by Anthony Bono, plus a glimpse at a frozen world at the edge of a solar system, by Kevin Bryan.

If this is supposed to be part #4, it has to be AP # 22, not 21.

Ah, this world must be rich in Vespene gas and More Minerals.

Lol- nice one. Thinking along those lines, I just gotta saw that it'd be a shame if there isn't at least some kind of Infested Kerrigan parody in this AP- either as a boss, or even just a character mention. Or maybe they could throw in something similar to the corruptions from the Song of Screams AP, that affects the players. EDIT: Oh, wait- maybe THAT'S why they haven't put up something on Part Two yet- that's where they've added the Kerrigan tribute! Lol.

We bandied that idea around with our authors, but really, the Swarm don't work that way. They prefer to consume your flesh for its precious nutrients and DNA.

okay I realize this is a silly question to ask here on volume 4 of this particular AP but, this has me a bit confused. First off thanks to the people over at Paizo for putting out this particular AP I have to admit the swarm have been one of the topics and concepts that has frequently been one of the things that have intrigued me most about starfinder.

But I've looked through the alien codexes I've been able to obtain at this point and with all the references people have been making to the Zerg and Tyranids etc. I feel a little confused I was hoping someone could clarify what the difference or differences were between say the Paizo race known as the Hive or the Dominions of the Black? Because from what I've seen popping up they seem similar enough that figuring out the core identity of the race or what really sets them apart is becoming a bit tricky.
Sorry for the goofy question.

The DoB are more lovecraftian in nature, dealing with damaging the mind and warping the flesh, the Swarm are more about augmenting themselves.

If you’re talking about the Hive from Pathfinder they’re basically the Aliens from the film series of the same name.

So more bio ships or very gigantic transport creatures to travel between the stars.

The former is definitely a DoB thing (not sure what the Swarm use but wouldn’t put the latter past em).

Swarm starships are indeed living creatures, and are basically considered part of the Swarm.

The Swarm can be considered to be more of a natural disaster; we sometimes refer to them as interstellar locusts. They are driven by an insatiable hunger to consume organic material and other resources to propagate their species.

The Dominion of the Black is a more calculating group, working toward some unknown purpose or for some ancient entity. They might steal your brain, but only for the knowledge it contains.

Both are pretty terrible large-scale threats, but each has its own flavor of dread.

I'm getting a major tyranid/xenomorph/bug vibe from this adventure path, and I'm HYPED!

This might just be the first Starfinder adventure path I run, when/if I re-emerge from my GM hiatus.

After hearing what Jason Keeley said about this episode on Starfinder Wednesday, I am more psyched than ever to play or GM it!

Oh hey, art got updated :D Yay for trox!

(I wonder if philosopher worms from alien archive 3 got in this book, or if they were developed after this book..)

I have to say the new smaller, low resolution covers don't excite me anymore.

Yeaaah it makes it hard to see the art so less dat feeling you get when you look at movie posters and such
