Marik delays hoping that if Selûne is able to finish off the badly wounded demon on the platform he would be free to take out and load his prism. He shouts down to Derpi and Xiao to let them know that they need to get their prisms loaded into the console on the platform.
Marik will delay to see if the green demon can be killed without him needing to get involved. If that looks to be the case he will land, take out his prism and load it into the console. If it looks like the green demon is going to survive to act, he will draw a weapon and try to finish it off.

Marik bides his time, looking for an opportunity to load his prism into the control console.
Should have added this bit to my last post:
At close range, the shemhazian's gaze - a grotesque amalgam of insectoid and reptilian eyes - freezes all those who look upon the monster!
Marik and Selùne are in range at the start of their turns and must attempt a DC21 Fort save or be paralysed for 1 round.
The crusaders battle the shemhazian whilst calling on Iomadae to mend their wounds - but they fail to pierce the great demon's hide.
Myth repeats his acrobatics, and again sends a barb into red wrecker.

Ashwell offers assistance with the prisms.
Mun sends a couple of arrows into the red wrecker.
Meanwhile Selùne continues her onslaught, tearing the demon on the platform limb from limb!
Derpi dimension doors herself and Xiao to the control platform. The bard keeps on playing whilst he turns away from the shemhazian and carefully places a prism in a receptacle.
The UMD (or INT) check is made by the character arming the weapon, not when a prism is loaded. The weapon cannot be armed before 4 prisms have been loaded.
This may be the cue for Marik and/or Ashwell to come off delay.

Marik was delaying to see if Selune killed the green demon, so he would come out of delay after Selune had completed her turn.
Seeing Selune finish off the demon in front of him Marik lands on the console, retrieves the prism he was carrying and loads it into a receptacle.
Just to double check. I assume Marik is in a suitable location for arming the weapon next round?
GM supervillan |
Marik loads a third prism.
Any PC adjacent to the console and on the platform may arm the weapon. The PC that arms the weapon may attempt an INT or UMD check. Other PCs who are also positioned where they could arm the weapon may Aid Another on the INT or UMD check by taking a full-round action if they wish.

If you have to make multiple saves please do so in the order called for, followed by dice for any actions. (In this case, Will save for the negative energy damage, then Fort save vs Gaze if appropriate, then dice for actions).

Xiao Junior waits until the coordination is perfect.
As indicated in discussion Xiao Junior waits until step 3 and turns the firing dial as a full round action with back to demon.
A little confused based on discussion if I have to make a gaze save or not when firing the dial but here the fort : 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Also a little confused if umd is necessary to fire the dial: UMD in case necessary : 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29
GM supervillan |
You are able to coordinate.
Myth fells the wrecker demon with more cold iron arrows.
Derpi, despite the pain of the negative energy attack, carefully loads the fourth full prism.
Marik braves the unholy gaze of the shemhazian and completes the arming procedure, compensating for the damage caused to the controls.
On cue, Ash and Xiao throw the firing dials.
Windows in the tower iris open.
The liquid-like glow in the prisms flows into the complex machine - but one of the prisms sparks violently! Damage to the console prevents the divine energy from flowing freely. Nevertheless, Marik has managed to reroute the flow and most of the charge is delivered.
The astrolabe apparatus in the centre of the tower whirs into life. The shemhazian looks up at the device in confounded rage.
The energy flows into the astrolabe-device. Suddenly there's a blue-white flash that fills the tower and spreads out for miles beyond. The weapon's energy washes over the battlefield outside, and an instant later all is silent.
The shemhazian is gone.
Marik the Ferret |
Marik brushes dust off of himself and looks around the room ”It’s certainly done something.”
”Is everyone ok?”
GM supervillan |
"You did it!" Ollysta Zadrian cries - and the cheers of the crusaders outside can be heard clearly.
"You have won a great victory! I will send riders to inform Queen Galfrey of our success. The Mendevian Crusade now has a valuable fortress and a near-unstoppable weapon against the Worldwound, thanks to your valour and heroism."
Combat is most certainly over, and I just need a couple of things from Mun before wrapping up.
Xiao Katsu |
Xiao Junior is really happy but at the same time he is unbelievably sad because Pars is dead.
He takes out his flying Fox familiar and hugs the magical beast and it seems as if they are talking.
After a while he stands up.
“I am so glad that we were successful!! This was a great victory!“ he says and he especially smiles at Ollysta.
Derpi |
Derpi is also happy and sad at the same time as she gets up and peers over the console.
I presume all the prisms need to be recharged before this thing can fire again
And I'd hand out more muffins but ... it seems I have ran out of them. I will have to make some more
Ashwell |
”Firing that weapon was pretty nifty, I have to admit. I can’t wait to write up the mission for the chronicle,” he says, thinking about all the demons and the incredibly powerful weapon he has helped fire.
Mythryndyr |
Myth smiles grimly as he sees the red demon fall...and then a bit more widely as the much larger demon disappears...he moves to recover his durable arrows...
After bowing to Ollysta in response to her praise, he looks to the others, frowning in disappointment when he hears Derpi is out of muffins...

When the white-blue light washes over the room, Mun doubles over in sudden agony. He tears the hood off his leather suit. The ioun stone that previously orbited his head is now dull grey - burned out. The elf clutches his stomach, cramping, but refuses offers of help and leaves the tower with the rest of you.
Outside, the ground is littered with dead demons and crusaders. But the surviving crusaders greet you as heroes. Ollysta Zadrian gathers you together.
“Since the attack on the Starrise Spire, the Pathfinder Society has been working tirelessly to assist the people of Nerosyan" the Silver Crusader tells you. "While performing rescue missions, diplomatic assignments, and stealth operations, you Pathfinders have shouldered great responsibilities and realised even greater goals. I applaud all of you for your tireless pursuit in fighting for what is right. In this time of need, it is good to see a team such as yourselves work together to complete what was thought impossible. For this, Mendev—truly all of Avistan—shall remember you, and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for Good.”
This concludes Weapon in the Rift! I'll post some notes in Discussion covering success conditions etc.

Xiao Junior is truly proud.
“Wow! I … I think we really made an impression team!!“ the little Halfling says beaming.
“We were really able to make a difference at the worldwound!! That’s incredible!!“
Marik the Ferret |
Marik, having some inkling of the cause of the elf’s distress, hopes that Mun will be ok.
As the party head back out of the tower the halfling retrieves any items which he dropped along the way and investigates the locations which the party had been unable to properly check previously during the running battle (specifically the room with the weapon in and the room with the corpse in. He will use Detect Magic to detect any magic auras). Likewise, once the party reach the workshop, he will suggests that they check what is behind the double doors which they had previously checked for traps, to ensure that they had not missed anything important there. Assuming no one objects he will cautiously take a look at what he can find beyond them.
