Not boxed, and not numbered: a storage nightmare

2/5

I've already complained before about how the pawns in previous Starfinder boxes/AP collections weren't numbered, like they are in Pathfinder 1E sets. This makes keeping them organized and finding a given pawn a lot harder. Why did they remove this useful feature?

This product makes it even worse because there's also no box to store it in. This makes the product much less usable than it could have been!

Not Happy It Is Not In A Box

3/5

Not happy that these are not boxed. I rely on the boxes to help me organize my sets. I actually make my own dividers to create rows and then movable dividers to separate pawns, not one for each creature, but spread out to help find things easier. It is a lot of work, but everyone that has seen what I have done ask me to do that for theirs.

I would happily by some empty Boxes for all the pawns I have that didn't come with some, just like we can buy little boxes for map-packs that were made prior to them being sold with the box.

I do hat to think of the cost as they cannot ship flat, unless Paizo can design one we can assemble, which I think can be done.

Why is it that the Box art differs from the Alien Archive 3 book?

I will probably not buy this box, as Alien Archive 3 will be my last "Bestiary" book for SF and much prefer miniatures, which will be produced for Starfinder by Wizkids at last in 2020!

I hope for all the starmetal dragons to be illustrated in this collection, so that we can actually see them all.

And all the alien companions; so far the Draserka, Eshar, Pachycephalosaurid, Proog (Morph!), Thakasa, and Vorac are all unillustrated. Really hope to see art for these in this box, especially considering players are likely to spend a lot more time with these creatures that any non-playable creature in AA3.

Update: This product has been converted from a pawn box to a pawn collection. The price and title have been edited to reflect this change.

Please note that the product art currently shown is still a mock-up design for the pawn box, and will be updated to reflect the smaller collection size once we have a new image.

Edit: the product art has now been updated.

Why has this product been converted?

The Alien Archive Pawn Box & Alien Archive Box 2 are $44.99 and have a box and bases.
The Adventure Path Pawn Collections are $24.99 and have none of those.
This is in between those prices with $34.99.

How many sheets are in the collection and how many pawns?

Considering that Alien Archive 3 has over 100 different creatures, among them 19 playable races, i find the decision to change the product not ideal.

It's 16 sheets—the same number as the $44.99 Alien Archive Pawn Boxes, and twice as many as the $24.99 Dawn of Flames AP Pawn Collection.

The feedback we've been getting from customers is that they have enough bases, so many upcoming pawn products that have traditionally been boxes (mainly Pathfinder Bestiaries and Starfinder Alien Archives) will be collections now. (And we do offer packs of bases for anybody who does need more.)

To be clear, changing these products from boxes to collections isn't changing the number of sheets the product has—it's just omitting the bases and switching from the 2-piece box to the printed wrap. (That also means it's quite a bit lighter, so weight-based shipping costs will be lower too.)

Thanks Vic, that's good to hear. I have a life time's supply of bases and would way rather have $10 than more of them when I pick this up.

It is odd that the Telelith starship pawns are printed with what looks like normal ground underneath them. Makes them look like they are creatures, not starships.

No where near as pretty as the Paizo boxes, a Plano box organizes the tokens pretty well.

Eventually, can you, Paizo, please offer us a box when things go back to normal? I don't care if we have to pay for it, but like some others, I would really like a box, eventually. As I have found out with other boxed sets such as these, over time and usage, these paper dolls don't fit into their placeholders well after a while and will eventually lose some of them. We understand what's happened, or we should, and don't blame you all for what has happened, we would just like to know if you will be willing to fix this at a later date. Please?

Yes, I am willing to pay the $10 for the box! hehe. I'll let others speak for themselves, but I would be grateful, for sure! Thanks for reading and hope you all are safe and well. Especially thankful for my hobby to keep me sane during this time! Yes, there is still some sanity left, not much, though! /wink!

I'm unhappy that it doesn't include a box, but I'm really unhappy that the pawns aren't numbered, like they are in Pathfinder 1E pawn sets (box and collection). For example, a pawn out of the 1E Villain Codex would be labeled VC 23, making it easy for me to see where it should be stored.

This makes it much harder to keep your pawns organized.
