Not spontaneous enough

3/5

This tool uses somewhere between 5-15 minutes. Not quick enough for pulling out at the table to create a random world. It is useful for pre-generating a world with random statistics, but generally I have enough creative power when preplanning that I don't need one.

Clear and simple randomization!

5/5

Well done on this product, Paizo! Really enjoy how simple it is to generate worlds and settlements for a homebrew or character background. This is exactly the right amount of randomization for me. It's also really simple to throw out options that don't fit your theme or vibe. I'm very impressed with how well it holds up with just describing relationships between factions, settlements, NPCs, or players.

This product gives me just enough to make my game feel that starfinder richness so I can fill in the blanks with the stories I want to tell. Thank-you!

A Universe at your fingertips!

5/5

A great product with a ton of possibilities!

My one complaint is it can get really cluttered if you end up with a planet with six different creatures or aliens living there.

The rules were super easy to grasp, and I say that as someone who struggles mightily with card games more complicated than War!

I highly recommend it!

Great product

5/5

I bought the download version of the deck. I absolutly love the art and the general concept of this, I also had some issues but I got quick help. I can recommend this.

Phenominal product

5/5

I'm absolutely enthralled with this deck. Not only does it do a fantastic job of generating interesting worlds, but you also have instructions on how to create whole systems, moons for the planets, settlements on either, NPCs and PCs. The deck does everything it says in the description and more. Easily one of my favorite ancillary products for any rpg.

A world-building card deck?
Now this is unexpected.

I would have expected a starship stats collection first.

As the intended street date for this is december 11th, i'm waiting for sample art...

This is one of the most amazing product reveals in years. I love it when Paizo make me something I had no idea I wanted and then immediately can’t wait for.

Good job whoever came up with this. :)

Yet another brilliant idea from Paizo!

This here, makes everything so much better for any future home campaign. This is a perfect resource. I will be buying this, even if it is just for the fun of making worlds!

They're used for random generation: number of worlds in a system, numbers of sapient/threat species, number of moons, and the like.

Update: Due to some unforeseen delays, this product has now been pushed back to a January release.

So, my LGS says the street date for this is the 29th, but you website already says it's available? Are stores getting these now?

The lack of a date means that there is no PDF version of this product and you can order the physical product directly from Paizo for (near-)immediate delivery now. From other January products and the January 2020 Customer Service thread, it looks like your store has the street date for them to sell it right.

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one :)

I got my deck, and it looks pretty slick.

However, I'm a bit confused by one thing in the instructions. When creating a planet and populating it with aliens, you are supposed to draw cards equal to the number in the left or right star fields. There are two Hook cards showing. Is the star field number the one showing on the top card, or the sum of the two cards?

Logically, the sum sounds like a lot of resident creatures, but the instructions are a bit vague to me.

Good question! Intent is that you use the Star Fields only on the card with the second Hook.

Thanks Joe!
Really cool product. I'm glad to see I had the right general idea.

Are there any plans to release expansion cards or blanks?

As well, any plans to publish a for-purchase app on Google Play or the Apple Store?

Is there any thought to add this as a .pdf product or a Roll20 compatible product? I'd love to use this while social distancing! I'd pay for a physical deck AND a digital deck for this one!

Does anyone have the individual card dimensions? I want to know if I can protect these with double-sided card sleeves.

I sleeved mine with the same cards I used for the PFACG. Looks like they’re 63mm by 88mm.

Thank you! Now I don't even have to go buy new sleeves!

I just got a deck and I have to say this is fantastic! I sat down to make a refueling planet out in the vast and ended up making the whole solar system (4 planets). This is way too much fun! Now if I ever get a chance to run a game I'll have the bare bones of multiple adventure locations.

I really like this product.

Great!

Perhaps you'd consider writing a review for it? It really helps the folks at Paizo, apparently.

No pressure, though. :)

Carry on,

I love the idea of this and I am definitely buying this today! Unfortunately I will be buying it through Amazon.com rather than your site simply because it's the same price at either site what is sad to me considering that I know that you have to pay Amazon extra money to even host it on there so I thought it would be cheaper through you and secondly they can get it to me by this Thursday if I order it now and I order for it'll take 11 to 20 days.

just like I would love to possibly get subscriptions through you but will not currently due to no decrease in price and a massive wait time compared to amazon.
I love your company and I love what you put out for products and I buy them quite frequently oh, unfortunately I do not buy anything through your company directly due to the long shipping times and no reduction in price from Amazon to you.

please keep up the astounding terrific work and detail that your company puts out and please get a new store or revamp your current one lol :-)

Overall I like the deck though I am unfortunately going to have to give it three stars out of five... Simply because out of 100 cards you only have one card, only one single card for asteroids. If you end up making an addition to the set of course I will buy in the very big hope that it will have a massive amount of asteroids in it. I was honestly hoping to have seen more asteroids in a deck. I understand the spaceship and the space station where each has only one, that makes sense to me, the asteroid one does not though. Maybe you guys can make a deck of many asteroids that are the same size and style so that people could potentially shuffle them in. Another thing, I did not buy this from your site, I bought this from the Amazon instead. The reason being that if I ordered it directly from you it would have taken two to three weeks shipping and on Amazon it took four days. That just seems very silly to me.

Hey there, I bought the download version of the deck. It seems to be missing all the instruction cards. Is that intentional? Do I have to make do with the four I can preview here? I feel a bit lost with how to use them in detail.

Let me look into that!

In the meantime, the instruction cards are available here for free.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply.

For the PDF version, how would that even work? Should there be a separate instruction set since the deck is designed to be used... well, as a deck of cards. Placement of the cards is a major part of the overall mechanics of how the deck works. I suppose you can roll a d100 to pick your cards, but now you're flipping pages back and forth and writing down details. The actual placing of the cards themselves seems paramount to both aesthetic and function.

I'm using Photoshop and a d100. Works pretty well tbh.

Update: This has been resolved! Thanks for your patience, everyone. The downloads should now include both the PDF and JPG versions of the deck, along with the missing instruction cards.

Question: If I bought this item on steam [for FGU] do i get the digital version cheaper or free or something else?

Thank you in advance
