I Can Show You the World!

Explore a world of exceptional heroes and unfathomable magic! Channel spirits from the legendary realms of Iblydos or Valenhall, shift into the aspects of beasts from southern Garund, delve into the psychic secrets of the Palatine Eye or the continent of Vudra, and explore the art of alchemical calligraphy from Tian Xia! Pathfinder Player Companion: Heroes of Golarion gives you all the tools you need to learn from the farthest-flung reaches of Golarion!

Inside this book you'll find:

  • Mystic bloodlines common in distant nations, including medusa-spawned bloodragers who can freeze foes in their tracks, erudite sphinx-like bloodragers, and sorcerers with the heart of a phoenix!
  • Secret techniques the beast speakers of lost Tekritanin used to befriend monstrous bulettes, petrifying basilisks, electric behirs, death worms, and sun falcons, and to command them to serve by their side!
  • Rules for occult characters to venture into the realm of mythic power, including new path abilities focused on occult magic and powers.

This Pathfinder Player Companion is intended for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and the Pathfinder Campaign Setting, but it can easily be incorporated into any fantasy world.

AWESOME Heroes of Golarion

*****

This is one of the best player companion books I have seen for a long time. I would give it 5 stars just for the bloodrager/sorcerer bloodlines let alone the kineticist stuff, Wyrwood love, occult epic rules, and so much more.

Hi Kvantum,

Would you be willing to list what mythic options there are for kineticists and for occultists? Thanks either way :)

Additionally, can you say how the Beast Speakers of Tekritanin were implemented? As archetype, feat, prestige class or something else?

I have never seen a more inspiring table of contents:

HEROES OF GARUND 18

Now to read the rest of the book....

Piercing Chant
Robust Stench
Sacred Pyromania

Bulette
Death Worm
Sun Falcon

That would be the feat that I just described.

The Phoenix Sorcerer bloodline has a great arcana. Learn a lot of spells that do great amounts of fire damage -- then, as an alternative to inflicting the fire damage, you can heal half that damage on all living targets.

For the mythic material:

Spiritualists can treat their phantoms as though they were eidolons.

The Universalist path adds 5 new abilities, while the other 6 paths add 3 each.

What are the new Shifter options and are there new magical beast animal companion options and if so how do they work?

It's bittersweet to see the very last Player Companion that I will ever work on get released. T-T

I hope you guys enjoy the work I did for Luis and Eleanor on the Heroes of Tian Xia section! <3

Any chance we can get some more listings of feats? What about spells? Magic items?

I'd love to hear about any interesting stuff from the book that folks want to talk about.

Also super curious about all of those bloodlines! (Sphinx especially.)

There is the Holy Beast archetype, which specializes in hunting down outsider foes of the Shifter's patron deity.

New Shifter aspects include the Peafowl (boosts Charisma) for Vudra and the Elephant, Horse, Lion, Giant Wasp, and Snapping Turtle (boosts Wisdom) for Garund.

The Beast Speaker feat and its associated mastery feat work very much like the Monstrous Mount feat, except that you are not necessarily supposed to ride your magical beast companion.

The Phoenix sorcerer bloodline is in that section.

That section also has Kineticist talents keyed to specific races, such as the Nine-Tailed Kineticist.

Those are merely my favorites from that section -- there are some really good things in this book that I haven't mentioned.

Sphinx Bloodrager gets upgrading claws and a frightening/panicking/stunning roar. Plus, either Maze or a free Symbol of Insanity. It's pretty nice!

One thing I'm impressed with- there are two archetypes that let you rotate through different Spiritualist phantoms day-to-day.

Spoiler:
Plague Eater can change to any emotional focus, deciding when they go to bed. The phantom is weaker, but it's nothing a feat won't fix.

Priest of the Fallen gets six different phantoms, each with an extra boost related to one of the six Medium spirits/mythic paths. The tradeoff is not being able to send them to your consciousness or call them more than once per day. They stick around in your sleep, though.

I love the kitsune option for Kineticist. My friend has been wanting an archetype that trades infusions for something more utility like, and extra tails is great- doing it without actually needing to go through an archetype is even better than expected.

Any noteworthy infusions or items for kineticists, possibly my last 1st edition society character.

What does the medusa and Sphinx blood rager get specificaly? Heck what of unicorn sorcerer?

Any word what the mythic kineticist options are?

Infusions and wild talents from Tian Xia are divided into the following categories:

Ancestral (already mentioned -- All are universal utility wild talents)
Clockwork (all earth based utility wild talents)
Nagajor Venokinesis (three substance infusions and one wild talent, all universal)
Winds of Yjae (a mixture of abilities)

The Unicorn sorcerer has the first three Cure X Wounds spells as bonus spells. The 4th level spells seems to be missing, so my best guess is that it is supposed to be Cure Critical Wounds. The arcana lets you heal allies as a side effect of casting your spells, and the powers are mostly focused on protecting your allies.

The Bloodrager bloodlines grant powers related to the monsters they are based on. The Sphinx bloodline has already been described.

The main option is Mythic Burn, which lets you use up mythic power in place of burn. The Champion and Guardian path abilities all focus on Kineticist abilities.

Spoiler:

Champion is great for combining stuff on your blasts. You can get an extra infusion tacked on (bypassing form/substance limits), or take an off-list infusion talent.

Champion gets a ranged retaliation of sorts.

Both get a 6th-tier ability that lets them use mythic power to reduce burn costs with a better ratio than the one-for-one of the universal path ability, but with some restrictions.

Unicorn: No horn. 1st level power is granting AC bonus to ally.

Kineticist:

Ancestral: Kinetic Dissolution, Mesmerizing Elementalist, Nine-Tailed Kineticist, Past Life Evoker, Tengu Blade Lore

Clockwork: Clockwork Heart, Clockwork Puppet, Spark of Innovation

Nagajor Venokinesis: Venom Admixture, Venom Infusion (+ Greater version), Venom Speaker

Winds of Yjae: Bolt, Kinetic Awe, Sky Walk

Wyrwoods: Five alternative racial traits (technically only two, but one offers a choice of four sub-options), ten favored class options, eight feats

I wonder if the missing 4th level spell from the Unicorn Bloodline is Neutralize Poison since unicorns are kinda famous for that?

We definitely need an answer from somebody at Paizo for that one then, as two different spells have now been suggested for the missing Unicorn bloodline bonus spell.

It should be neutralize poison.

Thanks for the info.

I really love the phoenix and unicorn bloodlines.

Also a question about the phoenix bloodline arcana...

spoiler:

So if you convert a wall of fire spell into a healing effect, it heals anyone/everyone that is effected by it(once per round each) for the entire duration of the spell?

I liked it with the various bloodtypes and shifter aspects. I do wish that the sorcerer and bloodragers had similar blood types though.

We're getting a Medusa bloodline?

My body wallet is ready.

** spoiler omitted **

That is a good question.

Spoiler:

If the healing is limited to the immediate aftereffects of the casting, then you want to stick to spells that do instant fire damage and stay away from those that cause damage later or set a target on fire.

Otherwise, I can see some easy abuses beyond that Wall of Fire. Any effect that sets you on fire could provide infinite healing as you keep voluntarily failing the save to put out that healing fire. Or you could have a fire elemental hug you until you are "all better". ;)

Flaming Sphere, using alchemist's fire as an optional material component?

Spoiler:
Level 2 spell that does (1.5)d6 healing as a move and sets them on healing fire for about a point and a half per turn? Not quite as good as a cleric casting CMW, but can get multiple heals per cast.
