How is the base pack different than the family pack? Both descriptions has same # and sizes of bases and extensions.
From the Family Pack page, announced by the Web Store Coordinator
Great News! The product has been updated, and is being re-released as Combat Tiers: Base Set. They are available for preorder now!

Been watching these on Critical Role forever, very excited to finally get a set!
Are these the exact same product as what they're using on Critical Role, or has the product been changed in some way?
Exact product! Handed them to Liam O'Brien and Matt Mercer personally; they frequent my store.
Happy Gaming!

Julian, that's so awesome!! Give them a nerdy critter high-five from me the next time you see them, haha.
Okay adding a third box, but that's it. Cut me off after that. ;)

Just got a set. They look great. The box mentions an extension set. How can I throw money at you to get more extenders?

It's easy to count 3D range too. When moving along the grid horizontally (e.g., N N N N), count vertical movement as if you were moving diagonally -- every other one counts as 2 (e.g. N&up N&up N&up N&up = 30'). When moving diagonally and vertically (e.g., S&W&down) count every 3 as 25'. Count in the sequence of 2 1 2.
Unlike horizontal movement, the order matters, so count diagonal+vertical movement first (the 2 1 2, 2 1 2 sequence) then along the grid + vertical, then finally pure horizontal or pure vertical.
A+++++++ A is at ground level
++++C+++ C is 10' up
++++++++
++++++++
++++++++
+++B++++ B is 100' up
Range from A to C is 2 + 1 + 2 (S+E+up, E+up, E, E) = 25'
Range from A to B is 2+1+2 + 1+2 + 15 (three S+E+up, two S+up, 15 up) = 115'. [If you counted only along the grid you'd have gotten 1+2+1+2+1 + 2+1+2 + 12 (five S+up and three E+up, 12 up) = 120' which is too much]
Pythagorus says 23' and 104'.

Third this notion! *BUUUUUMP*
I have a set and they are amazing. Though i do recommend shaving down the insert pegs a bit with a sharp knife(i used a pair of scissors), as they are an extremely tight fit otherwise. Felt like i was gonna break them if i fully seated them. Now they have a very smooth action and as stable as ever.
Will probably buy two next time if possible. They're an invaluable part of my gm arsenal now.

I hope they make more. I tend to play with dry erase markers on a battlemat which makes all battles 2 dimensional. I found out about these combat tiers a few months ago and I've been wanting them quite badly. I even tried to buy them from some chinese toy seller only to get ripped off. This seems to be the only source of transparent plastic platforms (who saw that coming?) and Paizo/TinkeredTactics are not keeping up with demand!
So is there any news about another production run? ...please?

I tried them and didn't like them, in my opinion they are unnecessary as they obstruct the table and get knocked over a lot.
A D20 placed besides a mini to show how high in squares it is, is more manageable.
I tried them and I do like them. They do break kinda easily, so I am always on the lookout for replacement (parts). Interested in letting them go? I will pay the shipping...

Glad to hear they'll be back in a few months! I was hoping Santa might be able to bring me one (or two) for Christmas . . . but just to know that they're not being discontinued is enough for me ;)
I already have a few of these sets, and I think they're fantastic! Not only do they come in handy for the standard situations of flying characters and such, but I recently put them to use as supports, holding up (at either end) several cardboard levels of both a pirate ship and a warship . . . and it made the whole waterborne combat (on the Sea of Gearnat, en route to the Tomb of Horrors) a blast!
Keep them coming . . . and please don't ever discontinue them! :)

To be crystal clear on this topic, we aren't the manufacturer of these, Tinker Tactics is, and it is solely up to them to keep the product in print. Paizo just acts as their sales and distribution partner and while we will encourage them to keep the project in print, it is really their decision. The best thing you can do to ensure the product stays in production is be an evangelist for it and help encourage the gaming community as a whole to embrace them as you have.

Thanks for the reply, Jeff! Sorry for wrongly implying that you guys were the manufacturers. I knew that Tinker Tactics was the manufacturers, but they don't seem to have their own website where I can interact with them directly. And it appeared that you guys were the only ones selling them on their behalf, so you seemed like the only conduit through whom I could communicate with them and express my excitement for them to keep making their amazing product. That's why I kind of unintentionally blurred the lines between Paizo and Tinker Tactics in my previous comment. I'll try not to do that in the future. Meanwhile, if you have any other ideas for how I can communicate with them directly, let me know. And I'll try to be an evangelist for them whenever I get the chance :)

While you are waiting for this item to come back into stock, you may want to take a look at this item. I just recently bought a few of them, and they look good for individual small or medium flying minis.
Unfortunately, the large and huge extenders for that item don't look usable -- I would hold out for a reissuing of the Combat Tiers Base Set for Large and larger minis in flight.

Is this product still in production/company still exist? I can't seem to find any information on the company anywhere, and they target a pretty serious niche, and none of the competing products, at least on Paizo's store, seem to be anywhere near comparable
Barring that, does anyone else know of any similar products?

I would really love to know when/if they make more of these. I'm definitely interested in getting some.
From the info I have, they are finished with manufacturing and are preparing them to ship from China. So give them another 3 weeks or so and they *should* be back on the site and ready to ship!

Thank you for the confirmation. I was starting to wonder if they would re-stock.
