It Came from the Sea

Whether from the dark depths of the ocean or azure tropical seas, heroes rise from beneath the waves. Pathfinder Player Companion: Blood of the Sea explores the mystical paths and strange abilities of sea-born adventurers. Discover the secrets of aquatic elves, gillmen, merfolk, tritons, and more. New magic items and spells aid aquatic characters and land-dwelling characters alike. A host of new archetypes, feats, and other options allow you to infuse your character with the power of the sea. Dive into Blood of the Sea and discover oceans of possibility!

Inside this book you'll find:

  • Archetypes for a variety of classes, such as the coral witch and the kraken slayer paladin, as well as a new cavalier order and bardic masterpieces, useful for characters in aquatic campaigns.
  • Rules for playing nonstandard races like cecaelias, locathahs, and tritons, along with a collection of gear both magical and mundane that can help your heroes in the world beneath the waves.
  • Advice on what to consider when your land-dwelling character must explore the depths, and tips on how aquatic characters can overcome the daunting challenges of adventuring on land.

This Pathfinder Player Companion is intended for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game and the Pathfinder campaign setting but can easily be incorporated into any fantasy world.

Good for underwater

4/5

If you are going to be in a game with a decent portion of it being underwater, especially combat, pick this up, there are some good options. Otherwise, your not missing much.

'Kraken slayer', hmm? My curiosity is piqued!
Indeed. I require Isabelle-like intel to figure out if I need to buy this book now (read: if this kraken slayer archetype stacks with shining knight archetype...)

Can anyone answer this most important of questions yet? :)

Book's nowhere near out, friend. Give it time. ^_^

I guess I'm back to hoping Isabelle shares some of her wisdom with us! :)

I've been trying to get a few scoops of tasty wisdom from her brain {drools}, but my grapefruit spoon was too dull to pierce her skull. And now she keeps a constant protection from evil up.

Locathahs and tritons I can easily making into a playable race but the cecaelias would be tougher and a strange choice in general.

They don't even have the July shipping thread up yet, so it will probably be a couple of weeks before anyone has the PDF.

I think it is safe to say we have a couple of weeks for this one.

Silver Crusade

So far my shining knight can stack with pearl seeker from Aquatic Adventure... I think... it would be a hoot if I could also stack Kraken Slayer from Blood of the Sea! :)

The kraken slayer paladin archetype sounds interesting. But not sure about the coral witch archetype, I can't stand witch archetypes that grant you hexes that only that archetype can use.

People will get pdf´s starting on monday 10th.

I´m really curious about the "Rules for playing nonstandard races like cecaelias, locathahs, and tritons", maybe we´ll get a blog about this book? ;-)

I hope merfolk will get alternate racial traits and racial feats.

I have liked the undersea stuff since the Krynnish sea elves and the Murky Deep module, the 1st edition modules that dealt with the saughagin were great!

Well if you have read aquatic adventures then you know there are plenty of locations with the saughagin;)

Liberty's Edge

They even have an empire with a name that is impronouncable and as such most just know it as furydeep

I will have to take another look at the book.

This book seems to have disappeared from My Subscriptions page - I swear I saw it yesterday, now the page shows AA2 as the previous issue and Elemental Master's Handbook as the next one.

That generally happens during the auth process, which is still going on. That book should show up in your auth e-mail some time in the next several hours.

Good to know, thanks!

Kraken Slayer eh??..... So a bit like Perseus?!

It would be like Perseus if the archetype grants a pegasus mount;)

The first lucky subscribers (Skeld*cough*) will be able to download this on monday 10th, so nobody is really able to tell something yet. ;-)

More then likely it will be Skeld if he got the product to begin with. We shouldn't assume he buys every Pathfinder product you know;)

Unless, of course, things get delayed for whatever reason, 10th is the *estimated* date.

This is certainly true. And, of course, just because someone who is a subscriber gets their copy, there's no guarantee they hang out in this thread, though there usually seems to be someone who does and gets their copy within a day or two.

It is not like he is picking and choosing individual items -- he only has a chance at getting the PDF first because he has subscriptions for the product lines in question. If he didn't have a subscription, he would have nothing before the street date.

Well it is not like we have long to wait for the PDFs anyway.

David knott 242, anything is possible;)

However fast the warehouse raptors can crank the assembly line's handle.

Each intern is loaded up with as many orders as they can carry and then set running across the warehouse to the dock. Cave raptors pursue, to 'motivate' them. If the intern carrying your order tripped, it may be late...

My guess is that the usual warehouse factors: sizes, amounts, number of people at hand, optimisation of logistics, software, random events.

What possible answers were you contemplating? The rate at which people work doesn't change much. How many subscriptions have products in a given month can affect how fast orders are put together.

Did you perhaps mean something other than 'rate'?

Set, I thought it was funny, but I can see how someone might not find it funny.

Supposedly, when your subscription is processed/boxed and you receive your confirmation email, your PDF(s) is ready for download shortly thereafter.

At any rate, you'll get your PDF (and likely physical shipment) well before us non-subscribers.

Yup, having a subscription is GREAT! Love it. Got my 'pending' notice last week, so it will ship this week.

I read your post as silliness rather than snark. I'm guessing that the intern who handles Skeld's subscription must have some track and field experience.

I'm guessing Skeld's ability to get it faster than the rest of us is a result of him/her/it being a Time Lord with a working TARDIS.

Or the next week, if the cave raptors learn how to operate the mass relay.

I thought you ate the cave raptors, Gorbacz...

Okay -- the three races mentioned in the description (cecaelia, locathah, and triton) have multiple racial hit dice in their bestiary versions. How did this book treat them as playable races?
