I'll bet that the creatures from Inner Sea Bestiary that get included will be the Android, the Vetala, and the Thinman.
Androids are shoo-ins, based on the theme of the book.
The Vetala are the last major race of true Vampires not in a bestiary, and are psychic themed. They seem kind of important.
The Thinman seems to fit the theme really well, and I'm certain it will be included if we don't end up with Slenderman. Slenderman seems like a logical inclusion, but the fact that he hasn't been announced yet is a little odd, considering that he would be an enormous draw for a lot of people.
The robots from the Inner Sea Bestiary could be included, but I'd guess that we're going to get new robots instead, just like we got new Psychopomps last bestiary instead of preexisting ones.
Maybe the Oronci if we get more Fleshwarps.
Myth Lord |
From the Inner Sea Bestiary I hope some creatures escape from that book as they don't really fit with the others:
Hope bestiary 5 has:
Scarab Beetle / Ceru / Fungus Queen / Ghoran / Korir-Kokembe / Oronci (only with new awesome art, if not new art, better not) / Thin Man / Vetala / Whirlmaw
But I think it will be
Android / All Robots / Thin Man / Blighted Fey / Veiled Master / Monkey Goblin / Lashunta / Mana Waste Mutant / Spawn of Rovagug / Star Monarch / Syrinx and Vetala

I can't wait to find out what all 5 types esoteric dragons are called. We know Dream and Nightmare but still the other 3 are unknown.
Spirit/ectoplasm, Thought/memory and Kinetic/motion? That's just looking at the Occult classes for esoteric inspiration...
Ignoring those classes and their themes, Alchemy, Language, Mirror, Mutation or Time could make neat esoteric dragon types.

Set wrote:Seconded, on both accounts. Though to be fair, I was somewhat 'meh' on the ghirbitulus until Mummy's Mask. So maybe they need some more "spotlight" on them, like Dragon78 said.Definitely would like to see more Proteans and Inevitables!
Never really 'got' the Aeons, 'though.
They (aeons) actually get quite a fair bit of spotlight in Occult Adventures, where their cosmic role is clarified and focused. I would imagine more will happen with the aeons now that they have a direction.

Well it can't be time. There are already time dragons.

Did I miss a Bestiary?

Time dragons were one of the outer dragons from B4.
Some said that the esoteric dragons were based on the esoteric planes so maybe astral, ethereal, positive energy, negative energy(though we already have the Umbrel), etc..
Umbral Dragon was from the Plane of Shadows, though, so it's still possible to have one from the Negative Energy Plane. I wonder if there will be an akashic dragon...
Dragon78 |
While the Umbral Dragon is from the plane of shadows most of it's abilities are negative energy based.
Negative energy/necromantic related
-Immune to energy drain and death effects.
-Healed by negative energy, harmed by positive energy.
-Negative energy breath weapon.
-spawns undead
-Energy drain power with claws and bite.
-Vampiric touch and finger of death as spell powers.
-Natural attacks count as ghost touch.
-Shadow Breath(the Str drain)
Shadow related
-Shadow breath(well the blindness part)
-Darkness, shadow walk, and shades as spell powers.
Yeah I think they have a good enough dragon for the negative energy plane already.

Create Flamewar (Su): If a message board troll is able to create a flamewar with its monstrous baiting ability (see below), all targets able to perceive the argument begin taking Wisdom damage every round they are present for the argument, even if they have succeeded their Will saving throws against monstrous baiting, until they leave the conversation. If the Wisdom of any creatures affected by create flamewar are reduced to 0 in this way, they must save or become a message board troll, as described in the monstrous baiting ability. While this is a mind-affecting ability, this ability affects all sentient creatures (Intelligence 3 or greater) even if they would normally be immune to mind-affecting abilities.
Monstrous Baiting (Su): Message board trolls have the ability to draw a normally sane, sentient creature into an endless argument that drives the target into madness. The message board troll makes an inflammatory statement for one full round. All intelligent creatures who can perceive the message board troll's inflammatory statement must succeed on a Will saving throw (DC 19) or be drawn into a completely fruitless argument. Targets who fail this save take 1 Wisdom damage for each round the message board troll sustains monstrous baiting (an additional standard action each round) and can take no actions except engage in this argument. Their failing Wisdom is signaled by their increasing belief in the impossible notion that they can win the argument with troll with a scathing enough counterargument. A target whose Wisdom is effectively reduced to 0 via monstrous baiting must attempt another DC 19 Will save. If the saving throw succeeds, the target goes catatonic for 1 hour, and then, provided it survives the catatonia, comes to its senses and leaves the conversation. If the target fails, over the course of a 24 hour period, it transforms into another message board troll. An ally unaffected by monstrous baiting can say as a swift action to an affected target, "Flag and move on," granting the target another saving throw. Once a target succeeds on a saving throw, it is immune to monstrous baiting for that given argument only. If a message board troll has affected at least one creature with monstrous baiting for three consecutive rounds, it can then create a flamewar (see above). While monstrous baiting is a mind-affecting ability, this ability affects all sentient creatures (Intelligence 3 or greater) even if they would normally be immune to mind-affecting abilities.
Message board trolls are susceptible to other message board trolls' monstrous baiting, but unfortunately, when their Wisdom is reduced to 0, they simply remain upright, arguing all the more nonsensically.
Sense Bait (Su): Message board trolls can automatically sense a discussion ripe for argument, and will drop all other priorities to move toward that discussion immediately, where they will activate their monstrous baiting ability to perpetuate such a discussion, hoping to eventually turn it into a flamewar.
These bloated creatures spend all waking hours in ceaseless, fruitless argument, which is their only sustenance. They can never be convinced of other points of view; the tragically optimistic often believe this is untrue to their detriment and, often, painful demise. Painfully persistent, their daunting regenerative ability ceases to function if they are completely ignored by all present, in which case they go away to seek victims elsewhere.

MESSAGE BOARD TROLL CR 5
I can't believe you forgot the most important feature of a Message Board Troll: unlike standard trolls, being Flamed heals a message board troll, as they have successfully provoked you into breaking the forum rules. Message Board Trolls eat fire. A fire attack which targets a Message Board Troll is referred to as 'feeding the troll', and heals the Message Board Troll for the amount of HP the attack would normally cause.

Occult Adventures mentions the manasaputra as inhabitants of the positive energy plane, and at Paizocon Erik name-dropped them as being in B5. As one of the designers of those outsiders, I can safely say you're getting some positive-energy plane outsiders! :)
If manasaputra are good outsiders, and sakhil are evil outsiders, does this mean we will eventually be getting aasimar and tiefling variants of them?

That's a very good question! I would be extremely excited to see that, and I think an aasimar manasaputra would be a really cool character concept. Keep asking for it and I'm sure it might find its way to print eventually (if it isn't already in the works somewhere.)
It will be, the moment they show me a B5. ^_^

Does someone read xkcd?
Lord-of-Boggards |
I am sure you guys will get aasimar/tiefling variants for those guys eventually. But I am still waiting for law and chaos based plane touched races.
I always found it weird that there are always Good and Evil touched races but almost never Chaos and Law based races. But hey lots of possibilities for new races with a new bestiary.
Personally hoping for 0-HD : Insect race, some sort of reptilian race(Crocfolk, geckofolk, turtlefolk), a new aquatic races, and my ultimate dream would be a fungus race but thats never going to happen.
Dragon78 |
I would be down for all those ideas Lord-of-Boggards along with a fey blooded race, giant-blooded race, dragon-blooded race, rabbit race, squirrel race, wold/dog race, and more alien races. Were are the green skinned alien woman or the small alien with high molecular density that has a racial bonus to str, maybe an alien race that can roll up into a ball like Metroid, etc. I would love to see ooze, undead, and aberration 0HD races. One tiny size race would be cool, preferably fey. A playable centaur like race maybe with a small size humanoid as the base so it would medium size. I would like a small size burrowing race akin to the mole people from old sci-fi movies and comic books. I could see more types of plant based races as well. More fey races would be nice such as playable water sprite/nixie like race or satyr(what the faun could have been), also a 0HD gremlin race would be interesting.

I like the way you think Dragon! Now that you say it I would love if they added a Coyote race. That way one day when they detail Arcadia we can have mesa top cities of magical trickster coyotes!
Also I had almost put molemen on my post. I keep thinking of the Moloids from Marvel comics. They kinda look like they would be some kind of neutral and intelligent goblinoid if you ported something like them to pathfinder
But now that you mentioned it my personal list for races should also include Aberrations, oozes(They don't do enough with oozes), and undead(I would love a ghoul-like race)
And i would love a playable centaur like race! And I love the sci-fi stuff so more aliens would always be great... and pretty much everything you listed...
I feel like if they did another dragonish race they would make it pretty unique
I'm not a big fey person but I hope they have at least one new fey for you in this bestiary.
They really need to just play with the typing more. some more monstrous humanoids really wouldn't hurt.
Still I think even a handful of new races would make both of us happy!

rabbit race, squirrel race, wold/dog race ...
A single double-page entry for anthropomorphic animals should be enough to cover everything with a table of stat modifiers by animal.
That way you could play Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Micky Mouse, Scooby Doo, Donald Duck, Wily Coyote and any other cartoon character your heart desires.

Technically B2 and B3 were all new races that had not appeared in any book before except the Suli and B4 was all reprints. We already know that we will be getting at least 2 new 0HD races in this book with a good chance of reprints as well.
Well I presume...we will get skinwalkers at least in the next bestiary. There are five races in the Inner Sea Bestiary (Android, Ghoran, Monkey Goblin, Lashunta, and Syrinx).
From the AP's, post Shattered Star there are Shabti and Triaxians.
I don't think all of those are going to be in the book, but they probably will take up some new race space.
