Best scenario in the front half of Season 7

4/5

I'd give this 4.5 stars if I could. It's got great roleplay, it does a good job introducing material from Occult Adventures (and a lot of other scenarios in Season 7 don't do that). It's a follow-up/flash forward to the earlier Black Waters, which oozed great flavor.

If you're looking at reviews considering running or playing this, just take the plunge, it's a hard one to miss even if your GM is just reading boxed text (and if you have an outstanding GM, it will be an outstanding game).

Interesting Scenerio

Played this high tier...

Roleplaying - The ball is in the GM's court to roleplay two unique NPCs very well, and at the same time, in order to make the scenario shine. This may be one of the only PFS scenarios I can think of that can be completed with full prestige and have zero combats. If you wield wicked social skills you'll be doing a lot of talking and rolling. :)

Rollplaying - On the other hand, if your party has a good face person, but you're playing a combat focused character you may need a caffeinated beverage or two. In our run through we only had one true combat encounter, and completed the scenario in just under 3 hours.

Environment - Good story line, and it ties into other scenarios and faction themes.

just a wonderful time

5/5

I had run through Black Waters with a different character, so I was fairly familiar with the setting. We took this on low tier, with new characters, and just had a blast.

I was running a kitsune swashbuckler, for Liberty's Edge of all things, and my first ever attack with him was to disarm one of the antagonists en route to the Academy with a 19 on the die. And it got better from there. It even led to the line "I shouldn't be Sense Motive-ing my Faction Head!"

I think my character has fallen head over heels for J as well.

4/5

Excellent and memorable NPCs, Japanese anima style

5/5

A short story, can finish in 3 hours, with memorable NPCs and roleplays.

And it seems can be no combats at all! Definately changes my imagination of PFS. You can talk, you can fight, a must play for every new and veteran players.

GM should do some work with the two main-NPCs, with some gestures and tones :)

Oooooo! Sequel to Black Waters? Awesome!

Silver Crusade

Six years since I delved that sorrowful place. May my lady not take those who go in my place.

Dude! I just ran Black Waters for the first time and now there's a sequel?! Sweet!

Sovereign Court

I hope a certain individual runs this for our PFS chapter ;)

Shadow Lodge

I loved Black Waters. One of the better ones with a lot of flavor and potential to add your own twists. Fun story, interesting NPCs, and can be very short to run.

I'm trilled that there is finally a return to the area and I hope it lives up.

Silver Crusade

A memorable scenario this one was.

Season 0 is still legal...that is surprising. I wonder if Black Waters is worth doing as a prequel.

Wondering when this scenario will be available for download, since it was supposedly available for purchase yesterday. Anybody know what's going on with it?

Black Waters was a lot of fun. I should GM it again before doing this one.

IMO, the coolest experience would be to intentionally grab a group of players expecting to go to School of Spirits and have them build characters with the idea that they are fresh-faced young recruits, running Confirmation and Black Waters and a few other adventures that are fun for low levels, and then have them "age up" the characters for Season 7 (assuming they started in Season 0, so add +7 years), perhaps gradually with 1 year for every scenario after Black Waters (making School of Spirits their 10th, so they play in subtier 4-5) or just all at once at some point.

Listen, just do what I do, say "We were too close to the Scepter of Ages. Just roll with it."

Seriously though I am looking forwards to this scenario.

I don't know, I've always found The Confirmation boring and underwhelming. Silent Tide and Blakros Museum Scenarios (minus Silver Mount), though would be a pretty epic run.

The idea was to emphasize the fact that these were fresh recruits on their first missions. Replace with any other scenario you prefer and you could even call it their confirmation! :)

I ran Black Waters last week, so we can run this follow up in the near future.

I just realized that this scenario was submitted for a 2016 ENnie. Thanks to whoever did that!
