Story by James L. Sutter
Interior Art by Kevin Stokes

To prove herself to the legendary Pathfinder Society, the holy warrior Kyra recounts a tale of heroism from her youth in the distant land of Qadira. When a village of desert ratfolk is massacred, only Kyra and the paladin Seelah are willing to take up their cause and hunt down the bloodsucking monstrosities responsible. From Pathfinder co-creator James L. Sutter (Pathfinder: Goblins, Death's Heretic) and artist Kevin Stokes (Pathfinder: Goblins, Secret Origins) comes an adventure of blood, sand, and redemption. Contains a pull-out poster map and official Pathfinder RPG bonus encounter!

The art is too cartoony for my taste the story not great.

**( )( )( )

THE GOOD:
Seelah is very cool and her origin story is pictured.
The chupacabra look good.

THE BAD:
Ratfolk don´t look like this anywhere else.
I have read stories like that a dozen times before.

THE UGLY:
Seelah took her helmet from a paladin that looked exactly like her - really?
One of the 2 monsters depicted on the battle-map is large yet is shown as medium. Also existing minis are not used for them as before but rather bland art.

Issue 1 was great - issue 2 was not! You can skip this one and miss nothing.

=D

If you don't like this cover, that's a "you" problem.

Cover Art Tribute

*****

The similarity between this cover and the movie poster for "Army of Darkness" is pretty freakin' groovy. The pose, background and foreground reminds me to hail to the king, baby. Even the smirk on Seelah's face reminds this primitive screwhead of the smirk on Bruce Campbell's face from that movie poster.

Similar to the previous reviewer, I am rating this based only on the cover. Shop smart, shop Paizo mart.

Cover art copycat (copyright violation?)

*( )( )( )( )

The similarity between this cover and the movie poster for "Army of Darkness" is staggering. The pose, background and foreground is duplicated. Even the distinctive smirk on Bruce Campbell's face is the same.

The ratfolk looks a little too cute - mouse guard like...

Also Valeros is a real idiot again. ;-)

Should be out on wednesday march 11th...

Picking it up on comixology that very same day.

Just read it.

Not as awesome as the first but still damn good. Can't wait for the next.

Scarab Sages

Why does the Paizo cover feature Seelah instead of Kyra? I know she's in it, but shouldn't it focus on the "main" character?

That was my thought... but I guess if you are going to compare an arm chainsaw to a sword... its cuts it pretty close.

Kyras not my favourite character (just a bit too sanctimonious for my tastes). It's good to see a paladin who's able to chill out a bit though.

'm liking the history/introduction theme of these issues.

The ratfolk in this are adorable. I hearby petition for a spin-off comuc like Goblins about them.

More Vint for the people!

The furry in me and the Evil Dead fan in me, wants to see a pic of her holding the ratfolk and saying "Give me some sugar ratty." :P

Or something like that. ^-^ Love this cover.

"Alright you primitive screw heads, listen up. This is my boomstick!" I love the cover shout out to Army of Darkness.

Liberty's Edge

nitpick: I just wish Paizo covers didn't "borrow" cover designs from other popular movies, games, comics, etc. All I see on this cover is Ash now.

Silver Crusade

Just buy the non-Paizo exclusive ones. They feature the regular artwork (many to choose from). I'm not a fan of the tribute covers, but then again I buy mine using the Comixolgy app.
