Ok so just wanted to give a brief rundown of how I'll be running:

Firstly for combat i will roll initiative for everyone and then publish the initiative order for each combat. It is Ok if you say what your character wants to do out of order (for the most part) - appreciate from time/life perspective that sometimes people post when they can. I will deal with the actions as they go in the initiative order.

Secondly I will roll passive skill checks e.g. Perception or Knowledge skills. If you want to recheck things yourself this is fine.

I will add a treasure list and campaign specific treasures where appropriate as well as maps.

Finally, I live in the UK, as such I will be posting probably early in the morning and late in the evening (my time). You may find that due to time differences I will be posting a lot/little. What I will say is that I don't want to rush you guys through things so I will try not to direct play too much. My basic rule of thumb will be to go with what the majority decision is, but I will allow everyone to say what they want to do. Very occasionally this may be superseded by the story but I'll try not to do this too often. If I'm ever going too fast/too slow with posting please let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Questions, are we allowed to play occult or Horror related material? And will we be using the amazing Background skills? Also, do the other 2 players already have characters built and what are they?

I would like to play perhaps a disarming brawler, or some sort of arcane caster or even an oracle. Those are my favorites.

Deadly Secret here with Leetia. Character build is complete, just working on back story ideas now. I did take the Local Ties trait and was thinking maybe she was adopted? What do you think about or should I know about that idea for story building?


I've thought about switching my gun chemist from gnome to ratfolk. Leetia, would you be against this idea? I don't want to step on your toes. It would give some good synergy if I dipped gunslinger later. I'm also planning on leaning into the engineering role a bit and picking up the technologist feat. Is that anyone else's plan?

Daniel, for our free weapon, could I take a "battered" (like other "free" gunslinger weapons) dragon pistol? I'd like a gun with scatter that can be reloaded with relative ease but this isn't on the list of the free guns offered by class. Since you're giving each character a free weapon, I thought I'd ask if this could qualify.

Posting with little Zimdoz. Background to be created after a little consideration.

I think I'll ease into the technologist stuff after level 6 once I've picked up a level of Gunslinger (techslinger). It'd make more sense that Zimdoz doesn't start out as an expert of tech things.

Let me know if you guys think that the scavenger investigator would be more interesting. Both classes seem pretty similar and fun.

The Gunslinger archetype that can use technological guns seems awesome. I almost went that route, but when I saw you wanted to go for gunslinger later, I decided for a different concept.

I put together his profile today, made sense to make a local guy. Numeria seems like one of the few places where ratfolk are common, and I stuck with the alchemist/gunslinger route.

Well, I just realized, we basically have an all caster group. This should be fascinating.

We don’t actually have a front liner! Some of us might survive melee, but overall the group is fairly squishy. We definitely compensate on other fronts though.

I'm playing in a similarly built RotRL game. We survived until book 5 without a single character death, and even that was death for a single round. Most fights, we don't have trouble with due to solid tactics and sheer damage output.

This should be fun

Sorry about the wrong character!

Even as a mindchemist Zimdoz should eventually be able to "tank" a bit, and will prefer to use scatter weapons, so that should help us a little.

That being said, I could drop mindchemist if you guys want. The regular mutagen is still very good and I'm sure I could find another decent archetype. Looks like we've got knowledge skills covered pretty well.

Don't worry, mate! Play whatever you'd like and we'll manage. I think the group is already solid. With the kinetic blade I can also do some things in melee, so I think we'll be good. I was mostly pointing out we don't have a full BAB class or anyone with truly solid AC.
