Glad I bought it

5/5

This is a beautiful set of minis, all first rate!

The only way this could get any better would be if there was a way to somehow let Lini actually ride Droogani. (I always like that as an option when an Iconic has a riding companion or particularly important mount.)

Even without that, a very high-quality set!

Good Value

5/5

The iconic heroes sets are the best character minis that Wizkids have ever done. These sets give consumers good quality minis at a reasonable price.

The level of detail on their clothes, gear, and even tattoos are perfect, and couldn’t be any better. Most of the faces look good and contain a level of detail not found in other minis.

It's worth noting that all of the weapons in this set were straight.

Mini specific ratings:

Valeros: Good.

Seelah: Perfect, as good as the stock image. The best mini of the set.

Seoni: Good, but she's missing all of the gold embroidery in her dress.

Sajan: His belt and chest bands were colored light blue, but this is still a close second for best mini of the set. A very good Sajan.

Lini: Lini has a creepy look on her face. Besides the face they did a great job on a mini this small.

Droogami (Snow Leopard): I wish Droogami looked like his stock image! Unfortunately the mold has no details in his face and it looks like a big blob (although the artist did the best with what they had to work with). The saddle blanket is blue instead of green. Easily the worst mini of the set and more on par with the quality of Pathfinder Battles.

”Pathfinder Card Game Exclusive Cards”:

If you’re into organized play, you’re probably also interested in what the exclusive cards offer.

Fighter (item): Item that buffs constitution checks and allows potions to be recharged. The fighter class deck only has a potion of flying in adventure 3. Even so, this card will likely be used from adventure 3+. This card is too powerful for home play IMHO.

Paladin (armor): Helmet allows character to reveal or recharge to reduce all damage by 2. This card is ridiculously powerful and better than some adventure 6 armor. Needless to say it will be with you from start to end.

Sorcerer (item): Staff allows the character to recharge the item to scout. Useful to start a character and is likely useful for a few adventures.

Monk (weapon): +1 1H sword that allows blessings to be recharged to add a die to your Dex check. I'm assuming this weapon will be useful as soon as a weapon can be added to the deck until the end.

Druid (item): Reveal to add 2 to Survival/close location checks. Discard to exchange with an animal ally in the discard pile. Although I don't believe this is useful to RotRL Lini, I believe this will be extremely useful from start to end for the other druids.

Druid (ally): Recharge for D8 buff to Stealth or Perception. Allows character to move to another location and explore. Another extremely powerful card, will be with you from start to end.

Good product for the right price.

The only thing sexier.

5/5

Was the gent who delivered them to my hands.

Thank you Mr. EM.

There are rewards to being faithful and loyal to the veiled true master of Cheliax.

For those who already have the original Iconics I can say that these particular sculpts are much more detailed than their predecessors and the quality of the newer heroes is literally everything promised.

You know that game we all play where we name the actors who we want to play the Iconics? Well these sculpts can play the Iconics in the movie.

These guys are camera and close up ready. I kid you not, you could make short action movies with these guys and they won't need extra time in the make up chair nor will there be a need for them to hit the gym months before, these Iconics are sexy, sexy, sexy.

Be the first on your block to take these Iconics home.

[Bonus. I gave a set of the Heroes to one of my hard working PFS GM and now I have an extra feat. Take that rules lawyers! Give the gift of the Iconic Heroes to you favorite PFS GM today and make the rules lawyers weep.]

Beautiful!!

5/5

I do not know if I just got lucky or what, but my set that I ordered is just gorgeous. The quality of these minis is (to my eye at least) top notch. I've stood these next to some of the other minis I have that wear the name of the world's oldest role-playing game, and these 6 just knock them out of the park! Even my older Pathfinder Battles minis just do not compare to the detail of this Iconic set. My personal favorite is Sajan. I can't wait to set these down at my next session. As soon as the next set is available, I'll be snatching those up ASAP!!

Great but not perfect!

4/5

I bought 3 sets of this.

In all 3 boxes the monk (Sajan) and the sorcerers (Seoni) are perfect in every detail!

The shield of the paladin (Seelah) is a little convex on all 3 minis but the rest is perfect.

2 of the druid (Lini) minis are perfect, on one the face paint dripped a little (this makes her evil looking).

1 fighter (Valeros) mini has the hair painted a little on the face, the other 2 were painted perfect but the longsword was bended a little on these.

On 2 of the cat (Droogami) minis the eyes were painted on different heights so that it looks like it is leering, the other one was perfect.

The only thing that really bothers me are the bendy swords - the rest is not a big concern.

This box is great and definitely worth it´s money!

Edit: I compared the new minis to their old counterparts:
The new ones are much more detailed.
Example: Seoni the Sorceress now has braided hair that really stands off from her body and the tattoos are much more clearly visible.
The only odd thing is that the new iconics are all standing smaller against their old taller incarnations. Maybe half a head.

Edit: Be careful when you remove the small mini (Lini the druid) from the plastic. One leg came free from within the base but i could stick it inside again. The (medium)minis are very sturdy and could be pulled out without a problem.

They won't be part of a subscription, but you can get a discount on them as a subscriber.

The question is though, will card game subscriber discounts apply? When I add these to my cart, I'm not seeing any discount. I'm not an adventure path subscriber, but since the card game was a big part of the reason for this line, I'm really hoping card game subscribers will get a discount on them.

I mean, it would make perfect sense since it comes specifically with cards not available anywhere else.

Wow. $30.00 is kind of pricey for 6 miniatures considering that the D&D Icons of the Realms Starter Set retails for $18.00 on Paizo's site. That's almost double the price. Here I thought that Paizo was doing something great by offering to make some of the rare iconic miniatures available to everyone (considering some iconic minis go for silly prices if you REALLY want them - ie on eBay).

The cards certainly cannot make up for that price difference...and for those of us who have not invested in the PACG, the cards will not offer any incentive.

What is it that makes these so much more costly?

RedDogMT wrote:

More paint steps, I believe. While I'm satisfied with the Icons of the Realms minis, they're not as ambitious as the Pathfinder Battles sets.

Also, Paizo doesn't usually discount their own products in their store as a gesture to LGSs, apart from subscription discounts and periodic sales (see Great Golem). While these are licensed products, they may well fall under the same rubric. You might be able to get them cheaper somewhere other than Paizo.com.

Please could we get confirmation of the situation for subscribers to the PFB range? Ta.

If you mean will these be part of the PFB subscription, that has been answered.

If you are asking if they will have their own subscription, that I have not seen an answer to yet.

Only speculation, but I strongly suspect that the D&D miniatures were launched at a lower price to get them purchased by consumers. That price is pretty comparable to the initial set of Pathfinder miniatures.

*That* I know, but it would be easier not to have to order them by hand.

You could always try selling just the cards on eBay. As there are minis fans that aren't into the card game, there are likely card game players that aren't into minis.

I know a guy who wants just the cards. So that is definitely true.

That sounds like you are getting the 30% Pathfinder Battles discount. The card game discount for PACG products is 20%. I wonder how this will all be finalized.

Well I must be missing something because I can't see it on that post and it certainly doesn't answer why when I order them (because I'm guessing from the above that they are not part of the subscription - there should be a subscription offered!) that set 1 comes up at $18.99 and set 2 at $20.99. Huh?

Set 1 now has an "Our Price" of $26.99 while Set 2 still has $29.99.

I recently picked up the D&D Icons of the Realms Starter Set and must admit that I am pretty disappointed; so disappointed that I do not think I will purchase any more of the new D&D miniatures. They really did not compare well with the higher quality level of the Pathfinder Battles miniatures I already own.

I still think $30.00 is too high for Iconic Heroes Set, but I guess I will have to hold final judgement until I see them.

This is where I am at as well. Once I see them I will know for sure. But I am willing to hold out hope for now. :-)

Count me in this camp too. I'm sure the miniatures will be cool, and part of me wants them, but I've really found the Pawns to be so much easier to store and manage, while still looking great. That makes me not want to buy the miniatures sets, but I don't want to miss out on the exclusive cards either...

During the initial reveal of this line, Erik stated that this Iconics line is specifically done with more steps, colors, and overall time put into each miniature. The goal here is to make a line of high quality pre-painted miniatures that most players and DM's will feel comfortable grabbing for use as their main PC piece. As a general rule, the least impressive looking miniatures of this Iconics line should still match the highest quality miniature we've already seen from this company. The hope, of course, is that all of them in this line exceed even that quality, setting a completely new standard of excellence in pre-painted plastic miniatures.

The D&D Iconics 6-pack that was put out was not advertised as higher quality. It was simply a starter pack of miniatures to coincide with the Basic Starter Set and the Icons of the Realms miniatures line from Wizards/Wizkids that was released in August. The Pathfinder Iconics line here should be a very clear step above anything that Wizards released during that July and August launch.

If you want to get a better idea of what this line will look like once in hand, check out the most recent Friday miniature review. Erik posted some of the paint masters from the first set, and indicated that any drop off in quality from the paint masters to the finished product should be extremely minimal.

In my own personal opinion, they look pretty phenomenal for pre-painted plastic miniatures that--without my Battles discount--will cost me about $5.00 per miniature. Once I add in my Battles discount it should be about $21.00, or $3.50 per miniature.

For those getting the 20% Pathfinder Card Game discount, I believe it comes out to be about $24.00 for each set, and $4.00 per miniature.

As someone who uses exclusively pawns for monsters - I actually find it easier to use pawns for monsters and actual miniatures for PCs. This way there is a visible difference on the table between the PCs and everyone else. Often times when playing with all miniatures or all pawns people forget who is who.

That being said, I'm a PFSVL, so I plan on picking these up so I can let those people playing pregens use a mini that fits the character.

If you are a Pathfinder Battles subscriber these come in at around $21.

I'm torn on what to do with these - no real interest in the minis and $30 is a lot for 6 cards. On the other hand, eBay is a bit risky for availability and price.

Don't suppose there's anyone out there in the Midlands Uk who only wants the minis and would like to split a box?

Even if they aren't in the UK, a US bases customer that wanted only the figures could get the product first, then mail you the cards. I'd assume that wouldn't be too expensive.

I love that they are coming out with these miniatures and advertising them as being to a higher standard then normal. Absolutely worth my money and I will be buying 2 sets of them. Will be posting my cards up here or on Ebay as I have no need for them.
Pathfinder products have in my opinion far surpassed any other company coming out with pre-painted fantasy miniatures. Keep up the good work and I will continue to be a valued customer who buys all of your miniatures and books. =)

Since this is a WizKids product, it would go through normal distribution channels if you're getting it from your FLGS. If you're ordering direct from us, it would ship from our warehouse after we receive our supply from WizKids.

That's currently the situation, yes—completely subject to change due to a variety of factors.
