The one that started the series

5/5

I have completed the entire AP with 2 groups of 3 characters each. Super fun!

It was the right mix of adventure, RPG, puzzle and replay-ablity. When done, you can play again with different characters (I recommend the Character Add On pack but its not necessary) or find the Pathfinder Society Adventure Card Guild scenarios here for sale that allow you to use the box again with a different path.

As a strictly solo player, this game takes care of all my RPG needs. Why I have "RPG needs" is a question I have not been able to answer since my first D&D game in the 1970's, but at least now I have an answer to the question.... I play when I have time and the game feels sufficiently Role Playing and puzzle solving too.

The one that started it all

5/5

The Pathfinder Adventure Card Game has come a long way since Rise of the Runelords, but it's impossible not to look back on this with anything but fondness. I still remember playing it for the first time. We lost, but all wanted to play again right away. That's just how great this game is.

So much fun

5/5

I can't belive how awesome of a game this is. Every senario we do it become's so close.

One time it wasn't. I have been playing this with 3 people and the fighter got stuck in an area under a collapsed celing and couldn't get out because he didn't have that high of a dexterity, so the other player, a ranger, came to the location to get him out. This wasted precious time and we ended up losing.

You can expect crazy stuff like this to happen. It may be a card game but we kept coming up with reasons as to why things happened and it felt like the table top rpg.

Well worth the money. The one and only complaint I had was that the base deck is noticable darker than the character add on deck.

By the way, while he was trapped I accidently summoned a Skelton horde and he had to fight it while trapped. It made for some funny naration.

A great game

5/5

A great card game.

She scenario based way of playing is really fun and makes the game more immersive. We're having a lot of fun with it.

Any chance that Paizo will sell mini's of the charcters (as a set)?

Webstore Gninja Minion

Individually, you can find them here:

We don't have plans at this time to release them as a set.

Unfortunately the figure of Seoni (the sorcerer) has been unavailable for some time; I've been trying to get hold of one to use with my card game (and also Amiri, the barbarian), but to no avail. Lem (the bard) is sold out, too :-(

Webstore Gninja Minion

Amiri, Lem, and Seoni are available as Bones Miniatures if you don't mind painting them yourself. :)

Is the Card Game a spoiler for the RotRL Adventure Path ?

We are playing RotRL AP and are in the middle of Book 3. A player of this group has birthday and we want to gift him the Rise of the Runelords Base Set. Is this a good idea ?

I think it's a good idea.

There are spoilers (of a sort) - you bump into NPCs, situations, locations and equipment from the AP. however, if you ensure you only play the decks of the card game related to the AP instalments you've finished, I think it will be a kind of "reprise" of the adventure you've just played.

The base set itself is only really full of spoilers from the first two AP modules, for example.

My aunt bought the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Rise of the Runelords Base Set for me, but she couldn't bring (to Brazil) the dark plastic that comes inside the box (she didn't have space in the bag).
Is there a way to buy only the dark plastic?

I have sent a e-mail for Paizo but they didn't answered me :(

Thx

Greetings Carcara,

Currently we're responding to emails as quickly as possible, however due to the large number of inquiries sent during the Great Golem Sale our response times are a little longer than normal. I should have a response to your email shortly, thank you for your patience. :)

When first get a reward like "Each character draws a random weapon from the box.", should it increase the total size of my character deck to 16?

No. Your deck size does not increase. It's similar to when you acquire boons from location decks. You'll have to pick and choose what to keep to make up your 15 cards, with the extras either going to other group members or back into the box.

Hey guys, I just bought the Base Set and have not yet opened the Burnt Offerings Deck. I wanted to make sure I had all cards in core set accounted for first. There was no loot card, and I can't find anywhere that specifies whether I should have one. Any help would be greatly appreciated

The first loot card is in Burnt Offering. Depending on your printing, it may say "B", but it'll be a sihedron amulet and belongs with "1" regardless.

awesome thanks, i know that was a dumb question

If someone could help me out I would be greatly in your debt. I recently got this base set and I am trying to figure out how to play. The problem I have is that the instructions say to set up Perils of the Lost Coast Adventure and it is no where to be found in my box. I looked at the product info online and apparently it is suppose to be there but I have no cards for it. I have the Burnt Offering cards and gear/blessings/spells. My box was new and un-opened when I received it, these cards are just not there. Did I just lose the lottery and got a box missing something? If so, who do I ask for the Lost Coast Adventure?

I do have some of the cards with B on them, just no Locations or Scenario cards. There are probably other cards in that stack that I am missing that I do not know about.

That stinks. I'd double check for it to be extra sure. If you haven't opened Burnt Offerings yet, there should be only 1 adventure card and only 3 scenario cards, so they can be easily misplaced. (I've done it before). In fact, here is a total card count for just "B" cards.

Adventure Path: 1
Adventure: 1
Scenario: 3
Locations: 24
Villains: 3
Henchmen: 15
Monsters: 50
Barriers: 20
Weapons: 40
Spells: 40
Armors: 20
Items: 40
Allies: 35
Blessings: 72
Characters: 7
Character Token: 7
Character Roles: 7
Total: 385

I'd count up how many of each you have to be sure. If the box is wrong, your first option would be to contact whoever you bought it from. They should be able to exchange it and return the incorrect one to their distributor, who can return it to Paizo. That way it goes back up the chain.

If that won't work, you second option would be to contact Paizo customer service (or your first option if you bought it direct from them). You can post a new thread here contact them. Or use this info.

Paizo customer service is stellar, so I'm sure this will all get straightened out for you. Best of luck.

Umm.... the card list posted here has some monsters listed under barriers, some barriers listed under weapons and some weapons listed under spells.

In the "After the scenario" section it says: "Once you’ve played a scenario, whether you won or lost, rebuild
your character deck (see Between Games, below). Put all other cards
back into the box."

Should i count "Put all other cards back in the box" as banish? I'm on the 3 adventure deck and i don't know if can remove cards with the basic trait from the game.

You'll get more answers in the Adventure Card Game subforum.

Banishing is a game mechanic while playing scenarios, putting the cards back in the box does not qualify as banishing them.

Do reprintings of the Rise of the Runelords base game have the updated rulebook?
Is it possible to purchase an updated rulebook (seriously, I'd pay $5 for it)? (Sure I can just go and print one, but what will that do for my OCD? Nothing, thats what).

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

We've only ever had two printings of Rise of the Runelords, both in 2013; that's the last time the Rise of the Runelords rulebook was updated.

The most current rulebook is the Wrath of the Righteous rulebook; if you want that but don't want to download and print it yourself, you'll need to buy a Wrath Base Set.

Will you be reprinting Rise of the Runelords? Thanks

I doubt they will, but there is a new one in the works.

There are still non mint ones available. Paizo’s standards for what is sold as non-mint are high in that it won’t be too damaged. The book won’t be torn, or cards misprinted. It’ll be a dinged Box or something cosmetic like that. I’ve bought many non mint books from them over the years (granted no base sets) and sometimes I’ve been unable to tell what it was that put it in that category.

The shipping won’t be discounted, so that’s going to be a weird invoice (USPS will probably make more on the sale than Paizo) but if you’re looking to own a copy before they disappear, I’d feel comfortable buying a non mint one from here.

Are you guys planning a reprint any time soon?
