A Pathfinder Roleplaying Game adventure for 4-6 characters of level 2.

Through some strange twist of fortune or fate you’ve found yourself stranded in an eccentric network of caves whose bizarre inhabitants appear to hail from every conceivable corner of the multiverse.

There is plenty of danger here too, including some beyond your wildest imaginings, and no shortage of treasure, if only you can figure out how to get back home with it safely…

Four Dollar Dungeons are standalone adventures designed to be logical, entertaining, challenging and balanced, and easily integrated into any campaign world.

Each adventure has enough material to last two to three playing sessions and enough experience to raise four characters of the appropriate level up by one extra level. Treasure is commensurate with the encounter challenges faced. Scaling information is included for adventuring parties of five or six.

Most of the action in this adventure takes place underground - somewhere...

I was just poking around on here, checking if there's a new Four Dollar Dungeon yet as I occasionally do, and realized that not only had I never reviewed this wonderful adventure, but it didn't have the universal acclaim of glowing reviews that I had ascribed it in my memory. (Not that there are any bad reviews, just not enough good ones!)

I ran this adventure a year an a half ago, early on in a campaign that's still going (with occasional fits and starts, but fairly regularly). My group still reminisces fondly about it. The very idea of a planar adventure for second level characters is almost ridiculous, but it's pulled off excellently, with a wide variety of creative encounters. (I haven't revisited it since we played it, but I just tried, and I could still fondly list off the concepts of sixteen of the twenty areas, and when I looked up the other four I immediately thought "that one was so good, how could I forget it?") Even the *hallways* connecting many of the areas are memorable.

Seriously, just buy this. Even if you don't go through the whole thing, you'll find at least a few neat concepts to drop into any dungeon.

Thanks for bumping this. I had missed it. After reading your review, though, I will pick it up. You can't beat the price point and that sounds like a lot of adventure for the price. Thanks!

You're welcome! :)

I am sure you'll enjoy this module! (And if you haven't seen it and like Panataxia, Horn of Geryon is also one superb module!)

I generally have little interest in 1st level modules. The title of Horn of Geryon really piqued my interest but I just am not interested in content designed for level 1 characters. Our group tends to bypass that level altogether, starting at level 2 or 3. Even if we do start at level 1 we usually get it out of the way after a few encounters. Thanks!

Shadow Lodge

There is enough stuff in Horn of Geryon that is not level limited that makes it worth the buy even if you never play the adventure itself. The tidal charts and other supplementary material for the adventure are just plain awesome, and could see use in countless other campaigns, even if you never actually run the adventure they come with.

Nice review, Douglas! :)

I hadn't realised you could add it as an extra link, liz. That's really clever, thanks.

Excuse the little plug, but this adventure received the joint top #1 spot in Endzeitgeist's top products of 2013 list along with my other adventure "The Horn of Geryon".
