The Channeler is a point-based, full-spellcaster. On one hand, he must spend his own hp to cast spells, and he has an even more limited selection of spells than a sorcerer (although not by a lot.) On the other hand, he has abilities that are very unique among full spellcasters that make him one of my favorite new classes yet.
1. The Channeler is a natural tank. With a mid-BAB and ludicrous amounts of HP, the channeler turns spells like iron body and fiery body into valid options to let him jump in, soak up damage, and smack people down.
2. Overcharging. By taking detriments such as attribute damage or sickening himself, a channeler can temporarily raise a spell's caster level, or even apply free metamagic feats to a spell. This means his spells can hit heights of power the average caster can't reach, although always with an associated risk.
It's a whole new level of managing risk and reward, but it's a fun class, and should appeal to any player who enjoys resource management, tactical planning, or the simple joy of devastating his enemies via insanely powerful spells.

I had a question related to death/dying. If a Channeler does die and is brought back via True Resurrection how would his condition be? I understand that he cannot channel spells if they would kill him, but he could channel spells until he was not much use to anyone even alive. Would the resurrection spell remove the death state and leave him with a single hit point until he rested?
Also- does resting work normally OR is a channeler that rests 8 hours back up to full health?
