I think if there were a key location in a Pathfinder adventure that could be re-used in the future (as in, possibly a non-Pathfinder homebrew), then I would be interested. I'd probably have more interest in a flip mat than a map pack, but as usual, I guess it depends on the execution.

I don't mean to be harping on this issue, but I'm hoping that it won't have yet more potions, scrolls, wands, rings, and staffs. Plenty of those can be obtained from previous booster packs, and I'd rather see new items in those slots of the deck.

Silly man! Of course we do! Don't you know that Paizo is producing products that are not unlike a drug, to which we are slowly being addicted to? :D

I have a suggestion for a pack of Item Cards:
Clerics of the Pathfinder Chronicles
It would contain a Holy Symbol, Favored Weapon, and Cleric's Vestments for all 20 of the core deities of the Pathfinder Chronicles campaign setting.
I would have to be 60 cards instead of the normal 54, but that's only a difference of 6 cards.

That is an awesome idea! I would buy that up in an instant.

Me too. It would go well with the "Clerics of Golarion" line of miniatures.

Yes,
What comes to mind with just the first Pathfinder issue is a flip map of the area where the battle with the goblins goes down. What a time saver that would be.
Then a flip map of each map in the whole series would be awesome. Talk about saving time doing maps or getting them done as battle maps. I would not paying for them even if I used them even once. Of course - a year or so goes by and you use them again and nobody would remember them from the last time they were used.

I am a bit confused... But that could be due to a lack of a timeline...
Isn't this what the Map Folio is for?
(Of course, this thread may have prompted the Folio...)

There is a huge difference between a map folio (printed maps) and battlemat size maps that can be unfolded and used for different encounters. I would really love this. Much rather than having to create my own battlemats...

You may note that my above post was dated 6 days before the Map Folio was announced, so I had no idea that they even existed.

Perhaps I am presuming too much, but I took this:
"Fifteen additional single-page full-color maps cover key encounter locations or wilderness areas from the campaign"
to mean battlemaps.
And Rauol_Duke, I can't tell when the Map Folio was announced... I don't have a clue. Which is why I was so confused, and admitted it was quite possible for this thread to have sparked the product.

I believe that "Fifteen additional single-page full-color maps cover key encounter locations or wilderness areas from the campaign"
means regular 8.5 x 11 inch sheets with maps on them. Like the maps in the Players Guide covers. Battlemats of course are maps with 1 inch squares that can be used for encounters.Shem |
I can see why you could take that statement that way.
But I would think that single sheet maps that weren't battlemaps would be less useful, and somewhat redundant.
But, as I have found out reading these forums, my group has different expectations and playstyles than most.
If you look at the WotC map folios there are all 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper. Nice maps but not battlemaps.

It would be really nice to have a PDF download with the maps scaled up to battle map size for download for a fee. I am always at a loss that most of my players never see the great maps in the paths. I would probably be hesitant to by a flip map of just one of the encounters but charge me $10.99 for a PDF with all the maps scaled up and I am sold.
Jordan Murrin |
I will certainly be buying the Runelords item pack.
And I would buy the flip mat, too, if there were one. I would definitely re-use a flip mat in a homebrew. It would be a great way to jump start the writing process--"I have a flip mat, what weird new way could I kill off the PCs using this?" The fact that they had seen the map before in another context would lure them in to overconfidence.

Folks around here are pretty quick about discussing things - you can look at the date/timestamp on the first post discussing it on the product discussion boards and that probably pretty close to the day it was "announced". Now you have a clue.
And I'm sure this thread didn't spark the idea for the maps, ol' Vic knew it was upcoming at the time and was just bating us...

Not so much baiting as surveying. :-)
I would be very interested in a Flip Map of important PC places...oh, such as the Fort from The Hook Mountain Massacre!

I'm not familiar with the other GameMastery Card Decks, so excuse me if this is a dumb question..
Are these items specific to the campaign? Like stuff that is mentioned in the books?
Also, how are they distributed through the life of the campaign (context: I might be finished with Chapter One by November 2007, will there be lots of value still left in the product for my current group?)

I'm bumping my own post.
As I mentioned, I'm a new Paizo convert, so I don't have as much familiarty with these 'Decks' as some you all might. I never heard of 'em before.I'm just looking for more insight to what they really are.
Are they specific objects found in the Adventure Path? Like the Sidheron Rune found in Chapter 1? Or are they general images, like a sample Ogre Hook and the Desna throwing star?
Also, like I said, by the time it ships we might be done with Chapter 1, I want to make sure I'll still have lots of value in it for the next Five Chapters...

Let me just go on record once and get it out of the way. I will buy anything that helps me run (or make fun) my Pathfinder games; maps, item cards, miniatures (plastic, rubber, or metal), whatever. I have only two requirements when considering a purchase for my games: price and availability.
Price is simple enough, as most Paizo products are priced fairly (those that aren't are generally second-hand items from other companies). Availability is going to be an issue for you, though (I believe, at least. You've surprised me in the past). I intend to begin running my game within the next month. I don't see much of a reason to buy things that are not out in time for me to use them.
Also, while I'm on the topic, there is one other item that I'd really like to see from someone (anyone, really). I want to be able to buy spell templates and lightsource templates. It's rather a pain to stop characters every time something's about to come up just so that I can check their lightsource distance to see if they have any chance to notice people. Yes, I could (and probably will) make simple wire templates, but I'd much rather have some type of nicely printed clear plastic templates.

I don't think they have lightsource templates, bu thave you looked at the Steel Squire templates? They aren't clear plastic, but they are very nice and high quality. I've used them before and found them very useful for all sorts of things.
Thanks,
cos

I'd much rather have some type of nicely printed clear plastic templates.
You could build your own clear plastic templates, with a few clear plastic sheets (those that teachers use on the projector), a permanent marker, a ruler scaled by inches, and scisors. Easy, fast, cheap, and you can make any shape your group desire.

I mean, I know it's the light source template thread and all, but could the Rise of the Runelords Deck questons get some love too? ;)

The cards in this set represent a mix of specific items from the campaign along with general items that might show up in the campaign. So while you might get a specific evil tome you will also get a generic dogslicer card you can use for any of them that might be found during the campaign.
Of course, just like all of our other Item Cards, they are completely customizable, with the backs having a good sized space for you to write the items powers onto the card. This also allows them to be used with any campaign, RotRL or otherwise.

Thanks Jason. I wished I'd left the sarcasm out of my post now, so I doubly appreciate your reply.
I'm just a new customer, so I'm trying to get product information to figure out if this is something that would really help or just kind of a luxury.

Does the $9.99 price cover a deck that holds all 54 cards? If so, it'll be on a future order list for sure.
I've bought decks of this sort before and the price usually does include all 54 cards. This isn't a random selection like the others. We'll see how things develop in the next few weeks. I for one would like at least a list for the cards that will be in here so I can begin to think about what I might and might not give out to the players. Plus I need to find the one binder I was using when I though Magic: the Gathering was so wonderful.
