Guy Humual,
Apologies. I have another question. I should have read the text more closely the first time. I am coding up the dataset for use in the character generator that I use, and am confused by the:
Bardic Performance:At 4th level, a fili adds her fili level -3 to her bard level to determine her effective bard level for the purpose of bardic performance. This includes the number of rounds per day she can use her bardic performance and the bardic performances she can create. For example, a bard 2/druid 4/fili 4 has an effective bard level of 6. She can use her bardic performance a number of rounds equal to 16 + her Charisma modifier. She gains new bardic performances as a 6th level bard (of her archetype, if any). When a new fili level is gained and her effective bardic level increases to 7, she can start a bardic performance as a move action instead of a standard action, just like a 7th level bard.
The first line is "Fili level -3", but the example is "Fili level" (bard 2 + fili 4 = bard 6). Which is correct please?

This is an ghost from a previous edit making it's way into print. "A fili adds her fili level -3 to her bard level to determine her effective bard level" is the correct wording here and "a bard 2/druid 4/fili 4 has an effective bard level of 6" is a ghost that was meant to be edited out. I spotted the error and passed it along to Ryan but somehow it made it into print. I felt full bardic music along with full spell progression would have made the class too powerful but I felt the class needed access to bardic music as it's the defining aspect of the bard. The -3 is the compromise that I came up with (much like a paladin's old turn undead ability). In that example the Fili should have an effective bard level of 3 for determining bardic music.
When I downloaded the PDF it was the second thing I spotted. The first being the artwork :)

As a DM, I completely understand the need for the -3, and that is actually the way I coded it into the character generator since it seemed the best way.
But as a Player, I must say *rats*. hehe,

I'll get on that this week, so that they'll go into the next-ish shipment.I believe I have a parcel ready to go, that can still be altered.
Would it be possible to slip Chris Leaper's copy in there? (artist on page 69)
I know he doesn't have a subscription, and he lives 5 minutes from me (one street down from my old house!).
I'll make a note of that, Robert!

@Dark_Mistress, and anyone else interested.
Here is the full list of spells known by Melissa (the witch from page 16). In my original thinking, she has the following spells stored in her familiar. These were recreated from memory because I couldn't find the notebook I was using back in April (it's in storage somewhere), so if anything doesn't make sense, that's why! Her patron grants spells as per the deception theme.
Level 0: All
Level 1: cause fear, charm person, cure light wounds, diagnose disease, enlarge person, reduce person, sleep, summon monster I, ventriloquism
Level 2: cure moderate wounds, hold person, invisibility, scare, steal voice
Cheers, Will

@Rumbleroar- thanks for the review! I hope the goblin items wreak havoc in as many games as possible, to be honest. I'm glad you liked the goblin-y prose? I love that Scary-Horse-Face-Mask art too.
@Kevin Andrew Murphy- I'm thrilled to have inspired somebody with your creativity. Run with it and let me know how it goes!

Of Magic and Mettle: I really like the idea of a spontaneous magus, and was rather surprised that wasn't the default option. This works well to fill those shoes. The Extemporaneous Metamagic arcana seems a bit unclear - do you get additional metamagic options with one choice of this ability as you level up, one at +1, another at +2, and another at +3? The "At 6th level..." stuff could be read either way. Also, should the +3 option be available at 6th level? 6th level is listed twice, for both +2 and +3 metamagic feats. Also, can you use the Spell Reserves ability to prepare a spell with a metamagic feat? I'd assume so, but the language is just for magus arcana that duplicate a metamagic feat. (Oh - does that use the 1/day limit of those arcana, or does it not count?)
A typo snuck in during the editing process:
At 6th level, a magus that selects this arcana can choose a single metamagic feat that uses a spell slot up to two levels higher than the spell's actual level, such as Persistent Spell or Sickening Spell. At 12th level, a magus that selects this arcana can choose a single metamagic feat that uses a spell slot up to three levels higher than the spell's actual level, such as Widen Spell or Dazing Spell.
The extemporaneous metamagic arcana was intended to alleviate the need to create a unique metamagic arcana for every metamagic feat. Each time a magus takes the extemporaneous metamagic arcana, he selects a different metamagic feat to replicate (similar to taking Weapon Focus more than once, and each time it applies to a different weapon).
If any standard or archetype magus took extemporaneous metamagic (Enlarge Spell) as his arcana, he would be able to cast one spell per day as if it was modified by the Enlarge Spell metamagic feat, just like as if he was using the still magic arcana to replicate the effect of the Still Magic metamagic feat. The first enlarged magus spell that he casts that day -- lets say magic missile -- expends the normal spell slot level (in this case, a 1st level slot).
If an extempresario magus took the extemporaneous metamagic (Enlarge Spell) arcana, the first enlarged magus spell that he casts that day -- again, magic missile -- expends the normal spell slot level. If he wishes to cast an enlarged magic missile (or other spell he knows) later that day, he can use spell reserves to prepare it as a swift action by spending the normal 1 arcane pool point (for a 1st level spell) plus 1 point for enlarging it and 1 point for adding one metamagic effect, expending a total of 3 arcane pool points. He can now cast this reserve spell using a normal standard action. He can repeatedly prepare and cast enlarged spells this way as long as he has sufficient points remaining in his arcane pool.
Hope that clears it up, and thanks for the review (and catching that typo). :)

Rumbleroar, thank you very much for taking the time to comment on every article in the magazine, especially since the feedback was so constructive.
I'm sorry that my story, "Hollow Hearts" didn't resonate with you, but I still learned some things from your comments and will apply them to my future work.
With respect to the quote at the beginning, I agree that using quotes from the real world can be jarring. However, I thought that the text was appropriate because it was a rather poetic way of describing what early surgeons were expected to do, and it would have been wrong to simply attribute it to a fictional character in Golarion.
The quote fit the story because, physically, it is what the killer was trying to do when committing the crimes that occured "off stage." It is also what must happen in order for the characters to be healed, emotionally.

@Timitius - I thanked my collaborator and the artist (in the Wayfinder #7 submissions thread), but I forgot to thank you and the Wayfinder team! Mea culpa! Thanks so much for publishing my first article (I've got some other stuff accepted with a 3PP but it ain't out yet!) I too am blown away by the content of this free magazine!
@Rumbleroar: Thank you for your kind words on the Bonewitch archetype. I agree with others here, feedback is awesome, even critical reviews.

Since feedback was asked for, here is some of the stuff that stood out to me that I would like to see more of. Keep in mind I have not even touched the fiction yet. Haven't had time to read any of that.
Lure of Greed - is a nice add on to RotRL AP.
The goblin magic items - where funny, especially the flavor text.
The Hag and the Seeker - mostly cause Melissa fits in as a great NPC to act as a bit of a mentor to the PC witch in the group and as a contact for the PC's.
Defying Logic and Fate - the two domains where ok Some of the feats where very interesting.
Burdens of Power - I found it a mixed bag, two I really liked and two new curses I was kinda meh on.
Dracochymist - cute and a friend of mine loves it. He is playing a kobold alchemist in another campaign.
Bonewitch - I thought this was pretty cool and would like to see more archetypes for witches but I am partial to them.
Choppers Isle - was pretty cool and like Lure of Greed is a nice little side trek for RotRL AP.
Ruling Rannick - was a nice addition, since taking the fort over has been very popular with PC's. Though I would have liked to have seen a bit more dealing with rebuilding, taxes, etc basically some tweaks to the kingdom building this was modeled after on the running of the fort and getting it going again. If that makes sense.
Pregen characters - where pretty well done and will make nice NPC's.
Raging Blood artwork - it was very good. not to take away from the other art but I thought this was the best art in the book.
Anything not mentioned above, either I haven't read it. Or I didn't have strong feelings about it.

yeah but bookmarks are more handy than a index. Since you can see the bookmarks while looking at any page of the product and skip to anywhere. The index you have to keep scrolling back to it, so while useful is less useful than bookmarks. Which for as i mentioned a product like this with tons of little articles is very handy.

Oh I agree completely. Bookmarks, when dealing with short content, are essential ... not sure why I spaced on plugging them into #6 other than the holiday haze that surrounded the production of that issue.
Hmmm ... may need to shoot Tim an email ...

![]() |

Never to late to go back and add them to the one with out them. Then reupload the updated version. :) *crack*
Yes ma'am!
<quickly pulls up files, makes adjustments and uploads to dropbox>
Whew ... OK, so the updated #7 file lost the bookmark names, that has been fixed and #6 has been updated with bookmarks. Keep your eyes out for Tim to announce that they have been sent to Paizo for upload. :)

We live to serve.....Mistress.
I just uploaded and shared the updated files with Paizo. Should be uploading and in the downloads shortly.
Thanks to zylphryx for raising the bar, and makin' our Wayfinders so snazzy!
Also, thanks to everyone who has provided feedback! I appreciate it VERY much, and will take your comments and try to make even MORE improvements to Wayfinder #8!
Tim

I wanted to thank Tim and the team for such a fantastic job. Wayfinder 7 looks stunning.
I would also like to thank Russell Akred for his illustration of the Rune Oaks. This is my first writing credit and to have it perfectly layed out and adorned by your superb artwork is a thrill. If I was a Varisian goblin I would go and set fire to something to celebrate!

I'll also note that I don't think there was any article that I overall disliked, and they all had their awesome parts. I just find feedback to be more helpful than praise, and I knew it'd be a long post :)
Nice review Cheapy! I'm always happy for feedback even if it's not positive but yours was both constructive and mildly positive :) That ladies and gentlemen is the best kind of feedback.

Ambrosia Slaad: my suggestion for how to do that in the future was based on this. I think the bard and magi have the same spell progression and everything, so it works out. (I didn't double check that though, so could be wrong!)

Bardess |

@Cheapy
I don't remember if something got lost in editing or if it was my fault... anyway, the correct phrasing in the Opposites Attract ability description should be:
For example, a good cleric could turn the positive energy she channeled into negative energy just for her dhampir friend, thus healing him (it remains positive energy for all the zombies surrounding them).
So that was an energy attack, after all. ^^

Weal or Woe: The Hag and the Seeker: I really liked this WoW article. The characters are closely interwoven, realistic, and interesting, and dealing with either or both of them would be very fun to do in game. I'm going to have to try to work these two into a game at some point. The poor inquisitor wandering around trying to avenge someone who doesn't care about him is pretty sympathetic, even for a worshipper of Asmodeus.
Late to the party, but thanks for the postivie review and feedback, Rumbleroar. Melissa and Gregan were great fun to write and design, and I hope they see use for you sometime.

Eric "Boxhead" Hindley |

aaaand reviewed. I think I got most of the "crunchy" bits aside from the bestiary. Only had 200 words to spare too.
Ha, thanks for the review Cheapy! I totally missed it at the time, but I like to thank everyone. (Even if you did attribute my article to the Eldritch Mr Shiny...) it's cool to hear that you liked them, even if I had trouble with my goblin grammar...
For the record, Dave did the art, and it is awesome.
