Feel free to RP but I want to keep the rest of the players involved.
The 1st day of the month long Kaybeau Arms and Technology Exposition comes to an end with the different companies packing up their wares for the evening and it turns into an armed camp, where security guards are heavily armed and everything is very tightly monitored. The five of you make off at 20:30 in order to make the meeting on time.
The brisk 10 minute ride in a carriage with a chest brings you to the meeting place.
The afternoon rains have sent home the construction crews, and the guards have conveniently left the premises. A gate in the wooden fence hangs open to the construction yard, and within you can see the massive pit dug for the future train station. A few steel and stone columns rise to suggest the skeleton of a future
building, with only a flapping tarp stretched between them as a makeshift roof to keep the pit from flooding.
Stacks of lumber, bricks, and girders provide plenty of hiding places, and the fence is feeble enough to offer numerous escape routes. But you spot someone on the far side of the pit, a woman with a high-collared coat and a huge coif of hair. Beside her towers a man, seven feet tall, draped in a black coat, his face
concealed with a wide-brimmed hat.
Perception DC 15
Angus McCormick |
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Angus with the box in hand will approach both individuals he has an ornate jewelry box in one hand a very big cloak is concealing his heavy armor
I am in a bit of a conundrum. In order to get an inheritence and prove to my father that i can managed something he has tasked me in bringing him some rare magical artifact. having failed to accomplish said task i was wondering if you might be of assistance
LeMond Asher |
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Asher comes to this meeting out of the Drakr garb he had been wearing, instead he is back in his usual field gear, his chain shirt on his back and buckler on his arm. A long cape covers him somewhat, but it would still be clear at a close glance that he has a dagger and a rapier on his belt, and another dagger in his boot. Like before, belt pouches accompany these weapons, and a bandolier of potions and specialty cartridges rest across his chest. His normally colorful hat has been replaced with a muted one, a simple wide-brimmed hat meant to keep the rain off of him. He wears no uniform or outward sign of the RHC, but does has whatever paperwork/badges he would have in a belt pouch.
He drives the carriage (or accompanies another doing so), and stays with it and the horses while the talkers go and do such, his musket resting on the seat beside him.
Asher spots the tall man from a distance. "Something is up with that tall guy, looks more like a piece of engineering than a man. I'll keep an eye out for trouble, now get on" he says before the others leave the carriage.
He'll position the carriage so he can see through the fence at the meeting (maybe right at the opening, if convenient, and lights up a cigarette while he watches and waits for trouble.
Cretien Dufrene |
Cretien sticks near the wagon, ready for trouble but not particularly interested in doing any of the talking.
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Cretien Dufrene |
I should have specified before, but Cretien would have his gun in hand, but not pointed at an enemy yet.
LeMond Asher |
So, just to be clear, only Angus is heading down to the meeting and everyone else is simply at the wagon with Asher? Or was Falko kind of at a midway point between the two?
"There are some... Mobile turrets out there." Asher says lowly between drags on his cigarette. "Musket mounted, spidery things. At least two of them, that I can see anyway. At about ___ and ___ o'clock from Angus' position, behind debris" where the blanks are, of course, their appropriate directions.
Asher eyes the other constables, the red cherry of his smoke bright below his darkened features. "Maybe they're just there in case we try something." His cigarette is shining just enough light on his bottom jaw to show a tight grin, clearly showing that he hopes this isn't true.
Cretien Dufrene |
@Jonathan: was that from before at RHC or in the here-and-now?
GMEDWIN |
To be clear, this is a completely new situation "normally" doesn't apply. However someone should have gone with Angus to help carry the chest with gold in it. So as far as I understand the other four are chilling in the carriage outside of the construction site
The woman says, "Well my elfen friend, as long as you have gold or platinum we can do business."
She then waves Angus to come across the bridge, as she does her friend brings a chest over to her and she touches the lock with her open hand and says, "Fulamen Fulminor a little love opens every door."
The chest then opens itself and then the man puts it on the floor in front of Angus.
Angus McCormick |
Platium is easier to carry large amount of cash he says with a smile
he wave over his shoulder to have is "man servant" come over and bring his bag of cash
as he peers over to look inside the chest
So what marvels do you have for sell ?
Angus McCormick |
Angus does continu in order to give some extra time for his RHC friends to get in better position
Angus McCormick |
LeMond Asher |
GM: About how far is it from where I am at the carriage to the meeting?
With angus and Falko running the sting and Johnathan creeping closer to get in a better position, Asher turns to Cretien.
"That's a nice weapon you've got." he mutters, barely audibly over the rain while his eyes scan the construction sight.
Cretien Dufrene |
"Thanks. Pieced it together myself. A bit picky, but packs a punch when it wants to."
Cretien isnt moving any closer unless combat breaks out.
Johnathan Eli Holbrook |
Guessing Johnathan didn't move very far then? He'll move back to Asher & Cretien if he's not close enough to whisper
Johnathan whispers to Asher and Cretien, "We should arrest her now. We should spring this trap."
He doesn't offer any explanation.
LeMond Asher |
Asher looks down at Johnathan. "Let the man signal. We don't know for sure if she has any contraband on her." he mutters softly.
"Also, watch where you are aiming your weapon! If you're going to use one of those, learn how to hold it! Point it up higher until you're ready to shoot with it, kid. I know that that's loaded and the last thing we need is a shot in our own asses from bullet or shrapnel from a ricochet." he says, even if Johnathan HAD been holding it safely.
Asher picks up his own weapon, and holds it. "Like THIS, see?"
Angus McCormick |
You hand is two big i am afraid for the soft skin of this bag. if you would please allow me Angus will put his hand in the bag
and rapidly will pull the handcuff out and try to catch the lady's hand with one off the cuff
Don't know how you want to roll for it DM is that can be an action or whatever :)
as he shouts loud and clear
We are the RHC, Resistance is Futile, you will be assimilated. Err Arrested ! drawing his weapon with his other hand
LeMond Asher |
"Eyes open boys! Spider turrets around you!" Asher bellows out as they initiate the sting, warning Angus and Falko to the threat.
And since I'm assuming this is going to be needed soon...

The woman and also the metal man see the deception and it attacks him with a slam 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 hitting him for 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 = 12 damage
as she stamps her foot as Angus clanks the manacles from inside the bag causing the beam of the bridge to fall, Falko and Angus fall 20 feet onto the ground taking 2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8 damage
Falko, I cannot find irresistible laughter on the SRD.
Concentration Check DC19 1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 3 = 17, Falko tries to cast his spell but the wind gets knocked out of him and he loses a level 1 spell.

Johnathan sets a hand on Asher's shoulder. "I tried to tell you..." he says sadly, casting Mirror Image and moving up towards the action.
Images: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Skyseer touch: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Asher, at any point during this fight when you make a roll and don't like the result, you can opt to use that 19 I rolled instead. Usable for: Attack Roll, Saving Throw, Skill Check, or Concentration Check.
Roleplay-wise, he's basically transferring a vision of the future to you, i.e. a vision of yourself making a perfect shot at a specific time. See his profile under Archetype: Skyseer.
Cretien Dufrene |
Cretien double moves towards the fray, drawing his weapon on the move if he didn't already have it in his hand.
ends up 11 squares up and one to the left
LeMond Asher |
Rad, I'll select Attack Rolls for that bonus.
Asher breaks out into a run. Moving very quickly, he runs around the fence (on its right side) and takes cover behind the +10 foot area near the bottom ramp (the one just to the right of the bottom right corner of the pit). (should be able to do that in 120 feet, x4 running)
GM: Where are those spider turrets at?
GMEDWIN |
J,L, and C are outside of the large tent so you can only move half speed because of the mud. The mud stops at 20 feet, you can double move which is normally 60 feet which means I can move you a total of 40 feet. this round. I put up the turrets now, just needed to find some cool looking ones :)
Turret 1 moves to attack Angus 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 hit vs touch AC 1d8 ⇒ 5
Turret 2 moves to attack Falko 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 miss
