Drop new beasts, foes, and friends easily into your Pathfinder game with Pathfinder Pawns! Pathfinder Pawns are released in two formats: boxed sets (these include roughly 200 unique pawn types and plastic bases) and collections (these include roughly 100 unique pawn types and no bases; additional bases may be purchased separately here). Each Pathfinder Pawn features artwork by premiere fantasy artists and can be easily used in any Pathfinder or fantasy campaign.

Paizo releases an average of three new Pathfinder Pawns products annually, with each set providing you with dozens of monsters and personalities to bring to your table. With your ongoing Pathfinder Pawns subscription, we'll send you each new installment and charge your payment method automatically as we ship each product. You only need to sign up once, and never need to worry about renewal notice or missed products.

Aside from receiving the latest set of creature and character pawns, you'll also receive:

  • A free PDF copy of each release shipped as part of your Pathfinder Pawns subscription

By starting a Pathfinder Pawns subscription, each release will be automatically bundled with any other Paizo subscription items you're subscribed to releasing in the same month.

When you start an ongoing subscription, any existing preorders for products covered by that subscription are automatically cancelled (or have their quantity reduced by one if you've preordered more than one of an item).

A great way to play!

5/5

I admit I was skeptical about how useful these would be when I first opened up the Pathfinder Beginner Box, but after using them it's amazing how they just dissolve away and you no longer think about them as these cardboard cutouts. You just see the NPCs or the enemies (in gorgeous detail for that size). It's very clear to me, over the course of two Adventure Paths using only Pathfinder pawns, that it's truly an amazing investment for the price point. I hope Paizo continues to make them!

Good, More Pawns!!

4/5

i buy this one monday 6th at amazon, today it arrives, very hasty timing Cheers for amazon!!

Good pawns, i dont realy care the absence of bases in this expansions, and the fact that pawns haven´t colossal sizes!!

but what can annoying me, is the fact that theres a lot of missing creatures and npcs from this, and rotrl!!

Still a great buy to add to my collection of pawns
-Bestiary
-RotRL
-Skull & Shackless
Waiting for more!!

Official pawns would be great to have, but a little DIY goes a long way. Creating your own pawns isn't too hard, as I am not at all crafty and I've done it for creatures as large as gargantuan. All I needed was a color printer, chipboard, some glue and a razor.

Here is a thread full of ideas.

Do not plan for any Strength of Thousands pawns, they are not on the schedule. Sorry for your frustration.

WOW. This is a HUGE disappointment and a complete FAILURE by Paizo. I have no other words.

Any chance of news on why? I think a blog post on the topic was mentioned a while back.

Will there be pawns for Quest for the Frozen Flame and Outlaws? Or were those scrapped as well?

We've had a blog written for months. We are waiting for the tech ability to launch new subs to post the blog.

Those answers will be posted in a future blog. Paizo wants to make all its sub announcements in one blog. I am breaking protocol by telling you because of your frustration and because I regret the months-long delay that I can do nothing about. Thank you for your patience and patronage.

With all respect… Strength of Thousands was two APs ago. I’m sympathetic that the tech is running later than expected, but surely publishing a blog with a “more to come” at the end is better than keeping folks in the dark for months?

If Paizo isn't going to be offering a pawns subscription anymore, why are they still listed?

Paizo has not made any official subscriber changes at this time. The number of subscriptions is very important for some customers to qualify for Paizo Advantage.

Oh hey, that's right. If they canceled the Pawn subscription before having something else ready, I wouldn't get the advantage discount anymore.

Well well well. Here we are. Another month has passed and still no news about our pawn subscriptions. Is there any news on this? When can we expect an update?

I try not to have expectations.

It's based on past experience with them, so yeah.

There’s really no need to be rude like that, and scrolling up on this very page will show you that I’ve also voiced some frustrations on the topic. Radio silence for months on Paizo’s part doesn’t feel good.

you're probably right. I am only a customer who's money is probably not as good as everyone else's. I guess I shouldn't care.

It's not radio silence, it's "we will announce changes to subscriptions once we're ready and we've encountered difficulties in getting there". I'm presuming that this will mean an end of the Pawns sub, but for sake of people not losing their PF advantage due to an axed subscription, things are kept in limbo. I'd sure appreciate an update, but as long as I'm not getting charged for a product that doesn't materialise or promised a product that doesn't happen, I'm cool.

Yeah, they're not turning away anybody's money, they're just not producing things from this product line right now. A lot of that may be the global paper shortage that we're still in and pawns are a much easier thing to cut out of their line than books, and pawns take a lot of paper to make. They aren't announcing sub changes until they can do it all at once because THAT will hurt customers who rely on this to keep their Advantage discount.

Woof, guess I won't hold out hope for Horizons of the Vast pawns either. Not that they had too many unique ones, but still.

Then maybe they should change the Advantage discount model instead of counting a ghost subscription for how long, 3/4 of a year? Communication is key and since the only communication here is hidden inside the comments, I don't think it's fair to continue this farce.

I'd rather prefer for Paizo to get rid of flip tiles and spell/item/npc cards instead of pawns.

DnD's 2d acrylic pawns has me wondering if they are thinking of doing the same here.

I personally like the 2d acrylic tokens. I like having standees, but the tokens are very nice too.

Feel for you peeps that rely on these though. No news in quite some time.

Oh yeah, we got some similar ones as well. That might solve the material procurement problems.

I really hope Pawns aren't dead. It really is my favorite of Paizo's product lines. I hope it's not a switch to plastic over paper. I find the plastic ones, and basically all the competition (I've tried all I've found) inferior to Paizo's.

While not a subscriber (I buy from stores), I have every product in the line, and regularly use from them. Even the APs I've never run. Even the PF2 and Starfinder ones though I play PF1.

Paizo hit it right with this line. Uniform layout (rather than "cut tight to art"), no need for double-sided art, easy re-use of art they'd already commissioned for other uses. The perfect paper quality for the item. The solid-color white background that made the art pop well. The numbering system so it's easy to find and sort [except those 2? boxes that skipped that for some reason!]. The multiple color bases for identifying figures on the table even more easily.

And then the AP-specific collections was ideal for those running the paths!

:fingers crossed: that this is just a reorganization of how it's sold and not a cancelling or major change to the line.

Your last post was abusive. I get that you're frustrated, but getting aggressive at people who are asking you to be patient isn't the answer.

The fact that they stand with their employees in the face of unfair criticism should be commended!

At this point, the meme from SpongeBob where the fish go "How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man?!?!" is close to being applicable.

Like, we got it. You are frustrated, rightfully so to a degree. And I would almost understand if Paizo were taking your money with promise of pawns, without actually giving you the actual pawns. But they AREN'T doing that.

They're figuring out their tech issues before issuing the statement, and they aren't taking down the subscription right now to let those who have the subscription keep their multi-subscription discount. They aren't taking your money unfairly, and all they ask is for you to just. Wait.

So please, do us all a favor, especially the poor Paizo folks who are doing their best to moderate this forums, and WAIT.

Perhaps you mistook my post. I was coming to delete it myself and discovered that it already was. It was commendation, not condemnation. Calling Paizo a class act was a compliment, not ridicule.
