I kind of want to create my own mega-dungeon by combining the following into a labyrinthine SUPER-mega-dungeon:
Maure Castle
Rappan Athuk
Tomb of Horrors
Castle Whiterock
Stonehell Dungeon
Castle of the Mad Archmage
Dungeon Under the Mountain
Grimtooth's Dungeon of Doom
Dungeons of Castle Blackmoor
Castle Greyhawk (Ruins & Expedition)
and probably a few more that I can't think of off the top of my head.

I was thumbing through the Lost Cities of Golarion the other week at the store and I noticed how it had a little more crunchy aspects to it, particularly, some statted NPC or monster unique to that location. I liked that idea and I'm just wondering if this book will follow a similiar format?
Haha, it's funny, I posted a similar comment in the Lost Cities product description. I loved all the crunch - the high-level menaces, variant monsters, campaign info, etc. Really hope we see the same setup here.

I'm actually disappointed in how much crunch there was. Between the statted NPC and the three encounter tables per area, there wasn't much room left for anything else. I tried to put together a couple-session adventure that would take place in two of the cities, and I just didn't have enough material to go off of. I was hoping for a more fufilling gazeteer.

Yes.
I also like to think we learned from some unfortunate choices in Lost Cities (too much room spent on sample campaigns, for one), to make Dungeons of Golarion a lot more useful for folks who want to set campaigns in them, by the by. We'll see if we were successful once it's out.

I only flipped through it so I can't comment much but I did like some of the crunchy stuff. From Jacobs' comment, it sounds like they are taking that into consideration but will still offer some of the crunch. So, I'm looking forward to this one.
Side note: Sup, Erik. I figured you'd be off on your honeymoon by now :).

I am very confident I'm going to enjoy the choices you've made in this new product. Nonetheless, I wanted to mention that the sample campaigns at low/med/high level were a big part of what I enjoyed in Lost Cities of Golarion. I finished that book with half a dozen campaign ideas I wanted to run immediately - the blend of in-game story elements with practical 'how to use this setting in a game' suggestions was an excellent feature, in my opinion.

+1 me to.. I actually bought a few more books (PDF's) because of it, and then found out it was the odd book of the type (though Fractions was good IMO). The more books like that (a mix of crunch and setting) would be more likely purchased by myself. I just recently subscribed for the new campaign setting so I will be interesting in watching the next few books to see how this goes. :)
Hopefully you find the right mix to keep as many of us happy as possible.

If that cover art we're being shown is what will be actually used for the book, then I do wonder just what exactly Seoni and Valeros has discovered to make such hardened veterans recoil in horror.
Seriously, though, great cover art.
It's not the final cover art. That image is taken from an early Gamemastery Module.

Her leg will never be the same!!!
I think the important thing is that the sinspawn just goofed. He pissed her off and turned his back on her.
Let's just say Ezren's gonna need a shower by the end of Amiri's next turn. ;)
(and ouch, this is first blood on an iconic happening in-pic IIRC. Valeros has been bloodied up plenty of times, but we always see him after he's been worked over...)

I think there's two in Dungeon Denizens Revisited I think. One off Harsk trying to reach his axe as ...something I can't recall is giving his legs and feet a bad time, and one (bloodless) of a roper having its way with Sajan while Merisiel is resting on her rapier behind a rock.
Is it wrong of me to say that when I read "a roper having its way with Sajan" my first thought was "Golarion hentai"?
And that cover... ouch! Poor Amiri! But man is that Sinspawn going to look nasty when she puts her sword into him.

Maybe she had to go, in a dungeon or not, when you got to go you got to go.

Didn't we, as a community, lobby for a privy on every map about three or four years back?
I think I remember a foreword about that...

Regarding the Pyramid of Kamaria, I went and looked up its entry in "Osirion - Land of Pharaohs." Here's what I found:
"The pyramid of Kamaria, though long since scavenged of any valuables, is a danger in and of itself, due to its prominence as a place of unholy pilgrimage for the cult of Rovagug."
Long since scavenged of any valuables?! Methinks that's going to change.

Turns out that dungeons that are scavenged of all valuables are boring.
Dungeons who've only had, say, the top part of one level scavenged and that makes folks think that the dungeon's empty when in fact there's an entire megadungeon waiting to be discovered, though... those are a different story.

That's awesome, and having been the person who did that original bit, I cannot wait to see a full writeup for that place. :)

Zen79 wrote:Yes, the only way to do a Mega-Dungeon justice would be to give it his own 6-part Adventure Part... ;-)Or a hardcover.
I will see your hardcover and raise it to slim style boxed set status (or an attractive glossy binder to hold the contents if you dislike boxes). Anything less would not do justice to a fully detailed mega-dungeon. Toss in at least the following and we are talking.
- A main adventure book. An AP is around 300 pages without all the extras. Something like a double sized 128 page book would probably be enough to detail most mega-dungeons as long as it was focused on the task at hand.
- A bonus encounters/ideas book. Something like a 32 page size would work.
- An even shorter player's book (similar to AP player's guide).
- Maps, some more maps, and perhaps a flip-map thrown in for good measure.
I posted a similar idea over in the Epic Level thread which would have moved the focus on this book to presenting a brief intro to the 6 future boxed sets (say 1 per 6 months as opposed to the 1 per month AP method) while adding in starter options for adding in a Society style challenge system to adjust the base content to accommodate those looking for a bigger challenge.
Either way, more info of any type for the setting is always welcome.

What flavor of sinspawn is that on the cover? Definitely not lustspawn, and it looks bulky-er that the wrathspawn we've seen.
It's absolutely a wrathspawn. In fact, the vast majority of sinspawn out there are wrathspawn, since they were created by the Runelord of Wrath. Other types of sinspawn were created by other runelords after the knowledge of the creation method leaked out of the Runelord of Wrath's clutches, by which point there were already a lot of wrathspawn.
