Q: Will this set be part of Paizo's Pathfinder Roleplaying Game subscription?
A: This set is produced by WizKids under license from Paizo, and is not part of any Paizo subscription.

Q: How does this affect the Pathfinder Miniatures line from Reaper Miniatures?

Q: Do these miniatures use Reaper's sculpts?
A: These miniatures use all-new sculpts by WizKids.

Everything you need for the classic four classes

5/5

This was actually the first Pathfinder product I ever owned. I mainly bought it for Valeros (Because I usually use Fighters), but now I'm planning on using Kyra as a stand-in for my Aasimar Cleric. I'd like to see non-random sets of these for other iconics - I'd love to be able to own Amiri, Harsk (Dwarves rule!) or Seelah without having to go through the trouble of buying random minis. Anyway, these figs are a great buy for anyone who wants to play one of the "big four" classes.

First Pathfinder Miniatures I Owned.

5/5

I had dropped out of the RPG hobby for a while. When I elected to rejoin the fun I looked at several options and elected to buy into Pathfinder. I picked up the core rule book, the bestiary, and on a whim this set of four miniatures.

I opened the pack and took them out. I loved all four from the start. They were clean, nice paint jobs for PPMs and had that great "Fantasy RPG" feel to them.

Anyone who likes Pathfinder miniatures should own this set in my opinion.

This is a great idea!

5/5

This is actually the first set i ever bought from the pathfinder battles series. The sculpts have a wonderful level of detail and these are honestly all top tier miniatures for each of there respected classes. The paint looked a little better online then it did in person, but honestly for a pre-painted set with a vibrant array of colors for each figure, i can't complain at all. Most of all, I want to say that this was a great idea, and there needs to be more sets of nonrandom pc miniatures. I'd honestly buy everyone. The same goes for the Champions of Evil set.

Good, but not great

3/5

I was unsure of how to feel when i first heard about the Pathfinder PPM. The digital shots of the miniatures gave alot of promises but the on the other hand i have my experiences with Wizkids Mage Knight miniatures (who has some nice sculpts but really horrible paintjobs).

Ezren (3/5)
I dislike the pose and the choice to make the staff metallic. The flesh paint is not precise between the neck and hair which makes the neck look rather bloated. The cloak is nicely detailed and the rest of the miniature is slightly better than what you would expect from a PPM.

Kyra (4/5)
The cloak is really superb, may more detailed than you would expect from a PPM. Sadly the face lacks depth which makes Kyra look abit like a manikin. Her her armor could have been in a more exciting color as well.

Merisiel (1/5)
This is by far the worst of the miniatures, to my greatest disappointment. I was looking forward to this one but it really fails to deliver. The sculpt lacks quite alot of detail which means that it has to be painted on. And it goes without saying that with mass produced painted miniatures that's not going to yield a good result. A huge disappointment.

Valeros (4/5)
A solid fighter miniature. The armor looks good and the sculpt is resonably detailed. My only concern would be the face, which like Kyra is abit shallow (although not as much as Kyra). The paintjob on the face leaves Valeros looking quite dim.

All and all the quality is resonable for the price of the product. The good makes up for the bad.

This could also be used into supporting AP's (Horrors of Ustalav, Jade Empire Vanguard, etc)

Setting this up as a monthly subscription would not only get a steady stream of subscribers that would keep the mini line viable, but also would allow input as to what the community(customers) would like to see.

This right here - imagine a squad of Hellknights, a Hellknight commander, a few Thrune agents and capped off with a Church Inquisitor. All in their full red-black glory!

As for general use a set like this could double for evil fighters/cavaliers/knights, mid BAD martial types (the agents) or even a generic evil caster type (cleric/wizard) when it comes to the Inquisitor.

Pre-ordered! (two, in fact)

Stocking stuffers? Player rewards? Anally going through each set and picking the best of each figure for yourself?

Yeah, basically. (Well, maybe not that last one... but maybe. 8^)

I am already considering an extra Beginner Box for my nephews, and these would be perfect to go with it.

The player rewards idea has merit. (Hadn't thought of that until reading some of the above. Also: Anybody else notice that the character list also matches up with the PFS pre-gens?)

Plus, my little girls (1yo & 3yo) might want some for themselves one of these days...

Edit: Also, just sheer, unbridled support for Paizo and WizKids in this endeavor. 8^)

Someone above suggested that pre-ordering these minis would be cheaper with a subscription... How exactly does one get a subscription that includes them?

If you have an adventure path subscription you get 15% off Pazio products as well a few other items Pazio offers for sale.

Pre-ordered, cuz I'm way too curious for these!

Preordered. $11.04 with sub. Love it!

The discount you gain from subscribing to the adventure path applies to other subscriptions as well, including the Pathfinder Companion line.

Did anyone check the newsletter? I see that there is still no image here, but the newsletter had images of all 4 miniatures!!!!

Sorry, I meant that I'm a PC subscriber but it doesn't appear that I get the same discount as an AP subscriber. If that's true, it's probably common knowledge, so I won't belabor the point by complaining.

Where's the big version of the newsletter image?

Preordered.

However, is there a reason my sub discount was based on the 'list price' instead of the 'our price'?

The price should have been $12.99. I've fixed the product listing.

Edit: Fixed the fixed price. It really should be $12.99.

To be clear about the discount issue, the Pathfinder Advantage, which is a benefit of the Pathfinder Adventure Path subscription only, gives you 15% off of the MSRP of almost everything in the entire store, except for non-Paizo PDFs and one or two other products. So it's not just on a few things—it's on around 20,000 things.

That benefit does apply to other subs, so if you're an Adventure Path subscriber, your Companion subscription will effectively be at 15% off MSRP as well. But being a Companion subscriber doesn't itself give you the Pathfinder Advantage—only the AP sub does that.

Also note that the Advantage discount is off MSRP, not off of sale prices—if something's on sale for less than 15% off MSRP, you'll get it for 15% off; if something's on sale for more than 15% off MSRP, you'll get it for that better sale price. (Effectively, it doesn't stack with other discounts.)

I looked at that this morning and realized I was a little off on just how mch you can save if your an AP subscriber. :-)

Oh right! The power outage last night reset the machine that was going to automatically put up the image. I'll go take care of that ASAP.

Sorry, I'm actually still at the hotel for PaizoCon. I should probably still be asleep, which is why I went searching for coffee before attempting the drive back to the office. Turns out I should've just used the coffee maker in the room, which is what I'm doing now. Once I'm caffeinated I'll head over to the office and hunt down that image.

Well, the sculpts look really great (Merisiel first). Congrats to the Wizkids dudes.

And the paint job is detailed and "serviceable" (Ezren and Kyra); with just a bit of ink washing and highlighting, it will be pretty awesome in short order.

Cool. the Godkids will love these.

I hope these do well and that we eventually get all the other iconics from wizkids as well..if you included Lini's companion and Balazar's Eidolon then that would round out to 4 more sets..

I agree, a little bit of ink wash will add a lot to these already fantastic scupts. thanks guys for your hard work and effort in getting the image up!! Woot!!

Why must the Jerkfaces at Paizo let me know about something I can't get until October+, when I want to buy it yesterday?

WHY?!?!?!?

For kicks?

I'm wary of preordering this set. If the bases on the product image are 1" bases, the figures themselves seem rather small/skinny compared to most other miniatures on 1" bases (e.g. GW models, even some of their older, smaller ones).
Although I'd love to support the production of these, I might have to wait until they're out to see a comparison picture with other miniatures.

They look to be on par with most 1" minis.... merisel is the exception, but she is only in leather and is an elf. Look at the press release, it has a bigger picture of Kyra which is easier to compare, and then you can compare that to the others in this picture. It appears that this picture was also taken @ a slightly downward angle which makes them seem a little shorter than they are.

Merisiel, Kyra and Ezren look great, a bit disappointed for Valeros (what the heck, i hate him no point in hiding it).
Preordered the box set, can't wait to have them.

I wish I could pre-order, but funds are running extremely tight right now. I guess I will have to wait until October to buy them in the store. I would like to see more of these though.

Since you guys are partnering with Wizkids on this, is there any chance we will see a "Mage Knight RPG: Powered by Pathfinder" any time in the future?
