Class Books and Compilations

Am I the only one who would like to have a single volume for each base class in the pathfinder campaign setting line? Something the size of the racial books would be ideal. With APG, UM, and UC coming out, I find myself referencing 2-4 books for all of the rules on any particular character class. I'd love to have a single book with all the rules for, say, the barbarian, which includes all the archetypes from the APG, UM, and UC, the various favored class bonuses for the barbarian, and maybe a barbarian-centric character sheet at the end.

If it could be kept under $15, it seems like it would be a great thing for a player to buy (particularly a player who only has the core rules and isn't interested in purchasing the other hardcovers).

I realize that there's a significant contingent of gamers who balk at ever paying for any type of reprint, but to me, the portability of a single volume, the ease of use for a new player, and a low price point would make such a product more than worth it.

Currently, I print out the pages from my various Paizo product pdfs for the class I am playing and assemble them in a three ring binder. It's ugly, it's inconvenient, and poorly organized. I'd love to have a better option, and would pay accordingly.

I would not be too surprised to see a class books in the future for the player companion down the line.

That said, most likely it would be more then one class and filled with all new rules.

Paizo has not been to receptive of compilations.

I wouldn't balk at new rules as long as there was a really good index/reference to the other sources (and maybe a reprinting of the core class rules to avoid having to flip around for those). It wouldn't be perfect for me, but if new rules would sell such a product and make it worth Paizo's while, I could roll that way.

The Campaign Setting line is aimed at GMs, so is not likely to see all that many player-orientated options. The Companion line (usually around 32 pages) typically contains player options and in the not so distant future we'll see a range of magic-orientated options for players in Inner Sea Magic. Likely a more mundane one will follow. You can also expect a eastern-flavored companion to appear to coincide with Jade Regent adventure path.

I am guessing that seeing an individual class based companion is not all that likely to appear soon; but I'm willing to be proved wrong.

Personally I would like to see many more products along the Inner Sea Magic line: Golarion-specific player options:

  • Monasteries of Tian Xia
  • Warriors of the Inner Sea
  • Pirates of the Inner Sea
  • Berserkers of Golarion

Anyone can do this, since it's all OGL - they just won't be able to include any of the actual artwork.

All that needs to happen once Ultimage Combat and Ultimate Magic is out is for someone to create a PDF containing all those nice classes - and then that can be printed and bound and even sold. And it's just take a wee bit of free artwork to make it really snappy.

Hell, I might do that myself for my players, I think it'd make a wonderful Christmas present. Maybe I'll finally actually use Blurb for something.
