Cool But Difficult

5/5

The figure itself is extremely complicated from a detail point of view. I spent about 10 hours actually painting this mini not including prep, basing, and priming. This for me is about double the time I spend painting a single figure.

Overall, though it was a fun mini to paint, and I learned a lot from painting this one. My favorite part was the fire bird, and was the first time I’ve ever painted a flame effect. I would rate it as a very difficult mini to paint.

Lastly, to put this all in perspective for you other mini painters, my average rating on CMON is currently 3.9 of 10.

Amazing!

5/5

This is by far the coolest miniature I have ever had the pleasure of owning. From the killer detail to the heroic pose, it's just great.

12 different flavors of AWESOME!

O-kay!!!

Not to nitpick (ok so to nitpick I admit it) but Seltyiel is a half elf from everything else I've seen on the site.

Yes, you are correct. However, I don't see what you are getting at. The mini looks pretty much exactly like the picture of Seltyiel that Wayne drew. Is it the pointed ears that make you think he isn't a half-elf? I'm confused. :)

no its the opening statement it says human rather than half elf

Exactly this honestly... the title on the miniature is " Pathfinder Miniatures: Seltyiel, Iconic Human Eldritch Knight"

It's not a huge thing to fix (the mini looks fine to me) but if someone were to come on to buy a human eldritch knight and got that they might be slightly confused.

D'oh! Fixed.

I'm just getting back into painting, and am past the "Doesn't completely suck" stage. I can't wait for this one to hit my FLGS

This miniature is TOTALLY underpowered. Come on, Paizo! Get it right!

Is this a multi-part kit?
I'm looking for the points at which there would logically need to be a join, and I guess there would need at least three components.

Some great detail on this; all the pouches and buckles appear to be present. I can see his bottle of Brut aftershave at his hip!

Multi-part.

Multiple parts - arms are separate.

Can't tell from the pic...Is that a familiar or is it a spell effect in his right hand?

It's a spell effect. The mini is an approximation of Seltyiel's portrait.

Thanks IS

Just got this miniature in and I have to say, I'm in love. Bar far the coolest miniature I have EVER owned. Amazing detail and killer pose.

I would have to agree a little hard to paint as there is so much small detail but that is also the thing that made it look so nice after.

With the Magus class in playtest and coming out soon, bad time for this mini to be on backorder.

I ordered directly from reapermini.com, where I get the majority of my assorted minis from. I haven't had an issue there with something on backorder yet, and even if I did, miniature-giant.com usually has in-print and out of print reaper minis ready to go. The one thing I'll give Paizo props for regarding minis is that they seem to know before reaper does when a mini is ready to order. Which makes me scratch my head.

I put my comments in my review. Here is my rendition of this mini linked below.

My Seltyiel

Question for Paizo. Have you considered setting up some kind of official "inspiration gallery" for your minis, similar to what reaper does with theirs? I'm always digging for more inspiration and examples on my minis.

I purchased this model on impulse while looking for a model to use for the dwarf cleric I had planned on playing, and it is such a great model that it actually made me want to change from dwarf cleric to pure-blood elf sorcerer (gotta be a caster before becoming an eldritch knight, and I much prefer the sorcerer :P). It is a great model, takes a little work getting the arms to attach but over all a real beauty.

2 years later it is still an amazing model.

I bought this about a week ago and I'm wondering will it be painted when it arrives?
