Set of 3 markers. This multi-part marker assembles to make a stand-up torch which is placed next to your miniatures. These Torch Bearer markers are designed to snugly fit 25mm or 1-inch round bases and are perfect for showing which character in the group has a torch.

Assembly required.

We recommend Craftics #33 Thick Acrylic Cement for assembling our multi-part acrylics.

Handy little things to have around

4/5

This was an interesting little idea that Paizo had several years ago. The GameMastery Torch Bearer Pack is essentially a little baggy containing (in multiples of three) a crescent-shaped plastic base, a vertical plastic shaft that slots into the crescent, a brown piece of plastic that looks like the wooden handle of a torch, and then a red piece of plastic in the shape of a flame. With some superglue, the pieces can be assembled to create a plastic torch that hugs a round miniature's base, so that it's always clear which PC has a torch or light spell active. It's a clever concept, and I've used the torches in several sessions now. They're basically just a nice little visual reminder that helps the players and GMs avoid having to keep mental track of one more thing. I don't really resent the $ 4.99 for a few laser-cut pieces of plastic that I had to assemble myself, but I wouldn't mind if there were four or five in the bag--many encounters may require more than just three. I'd also caution that they'd be easy to break if a book or something else fell on them, so some care is needed. Overall though, I'm happy with them.

who has the light?

4/5

These have worked out really well in my campaigns. There is always a human in the group somewhere and these have been great for keeping track of who has the light source. Use a small piece of blue tac to keep it from coming away from a miniatures base when moving around. Also the label on the bag they came in says "Assemble with plastic cement, super glue recommended" That SHOULD be mentioned in the product description here on the web page not just assembly required.

Well, I liked them!

5/5

Yeah a bit fiddly to put together, but there you go. Sized to fit around WOTC pre-painted DnD miniatures, which is the 99% of my collection. And worked on the table great! It's always been a hassle with "who's got light?" Now we glance and KNOW. And my players know "no arguing, where is it?"

Even used them as wall sconces in one hallway.

Love these!

5/5

Not sure what the problem was with the previous reviewers? The need for glue was made clear when I bought these and likely explains their affordability. I also really can't fathom how one might say that Lego flame bricks (which I also own) are better than these. Other GMs and all my players love these things. I get compliments each time I pull them out at a Con. I bought one set and I am back to buy two more (one set for my player bag and another to put with my GM stuff).

Poor Design

2/5

For as many five-star ratings I give for quality products, this one is 1-star to 2-stars at best. I perceive poor production value and misfitting parts along with conceptually poor design in terms of usability.

I won't be contacting the company with ideas, but think its fair to suggest to peers to avoid this item.

Disassembly is also not possible once glue must be used, and no indication is given on the product that glue is required.

I like this idea. Could be good for those miniature using tabletop dungeon delver types.

You know, we have actual online wishlists now... check "my Wishlists" on the top right corner of the site.

I'm aware. But I need to make note of some things due to my constant shifting of allocated funds.

I myself use the (dreaded!) Torch card from the Item Cards line but this makes a nice product.

These are GREAT! I'll post links to picks when next we game. I normally use a red 6mm die placed on the mini's base to designate who carried the torch or were it was set down/thrown, etc...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You could also stick a tiny flying creature to the base, to allow familiars to be 'perched' on their masters, or attacking a larger creature in the same square.

If you like using dice as indicators with your minis, but hate having to precariously perch said dice on the tiny bit of exposed base you might have, you'll want to check out these.

I put a 6mm die on the miniature base, not the miniature on the die. Plan on grabbing a set of flying stands soon, I always used white foam discs under the mini's base to indicate flying, several in fact, each disc represented a different altitude. Thinking I can use those stands with a 6mm die on the base to determine altitude...

Is it possible to get these for 25mm square bases.....I mostly use reaper minis which use square bases.

It would be also great to have sets of four of these with bats etc to use to indicate which squares a swarm is in.

I don't believe they're available as squares. However, Litko does have custom shapes available by special order, and you can contact them at their site with other suggestions (like a square base version of this item or the bats idea) at their website:

And if they start making a new product, you can ask Paizo to add it. :)

Hmmm. probably could be used for dancing lights (if you had enough of them), wall torches, will-o'-wisps (other colors), tiny fire elementals, fire shield, flame blade bearer, flaming sphere indicator, light spell effect. Only three?

like the swarm idea!

I saw before ordering that these things required assembly, but I'd assumed that meant a base and an upright. I received them today and discovered each of these little torches is in four pieces. Hard to believe that was necessary.

Also, I spaced and forgot to order the glue. D'oh!

I'm no expert on acrylics, but I'd say that the orange flame and the brown torch have to be separate from the clear parts because they're made with different color materials, and the upright has to be separate from the base because they're in two different planes.

Yeah, I'd expected a separate base and upright; and I'm sure you're right about the different color materials being the reason for the rest. I guess the number of separate pieces just surprised me.

D'oh!

Got mine in the mail yesterday. They are super cool, but the flames do not fit into the torches. I know I probably should use glue, but I expected them to fit like all the rest of t he pieces. Disappointed, but still satisfied. I am going to write an email to Litko to see if this is the way they are meant to be. Overall good product, but I think square bases would be better too.

works for will-o-wisps too!

Sovereign Court

The need for glue is a downer. It would have been simpler to create a pre-assembled product, or create a product that "snaps" together.

At least it should be specified that glue is required for this product to work, and not just recommended.

Sovereign Court

Don't suppose any thought had been put forth to the possibility of making torch/lamp stands like these but for square bases? Most minis i've bought from reaper and other fantasy miniature lines tend to use square as opposed to round.

You can contact Litko directly here and suggest they start making that sort of thing.
