One of my favorite mini minis

5/5

Lini is so tiny, but so much fun to paint. A lot of detail in her accoutrements and all that. I love the sickle, which I find amusing because it has become the mark of a druid. As a druid myself, I think the gaming class is interesting. Mine did not come with the snow leopard for shape changing. Love snow leopards and gnomes.

Great Mini

5/5

The detail on Lini is amazing for such a tiny figure.

Is Seltyiel, the 12 iconic, will be among the miniatures relase in february or is it only Lini?

C'mon, image!

Seltyiel has not yet been announced.

Given that we just got images of the greens for January today, I'd guess it'll be about a month before you see the green of this one. (I could be wrong, of course.)

So, is that mean that he is suppose to be release in a near future or Lini is the last of the iconic? What about the march release, we saw the green of the red dragon on reaper mini page, is there anything coming out with it? Thanks for the quick reply

They have stated that all 12 of the iconics will be done. but it seems that paizo offers reaper a wishlist, Reaper sculpters make 'greens' of the characters they plan to make next, and reaper sends them back to paizo for an ok 2-3 months before they ship. So it depends on 1) how quickly the greens are done and 2) what figures reaper decides work best together - maybe the price of the red dragon means it will be released alone that month....

Damn, I took the wrong reply and I can't edit. I meant this answer for my reply.

Seltyiel has not yet been announced.

It's probably more likely that I am a wee bit impatient when I get excited.

not officially, but multiple people (Lisa Vic and Erik) have all said that all 12 iconics will be done eventually... the question is how long eventually is. Where Seltyiel looks a little more 'modern' look than the other iconics, I would guess that he is most likely the last of the 12, after the miniatures line is secure.

Liberty's Edge

Figures since Seltyiel is my personal fave looking character.

I have to admit, I'll be happy to get my hands on a Lini mini. Wifey has a gnome that needs a good mini :D

I have a tentative list from Reaper for March; it includes two reissued Crocodile Games minis, the Red Dragon, and another all-new figure that I don't believe has yet been mentioned anywhere. But no Seltyiel yet.

How do you spell the name of that new figure again? The spelling looks off.

It's spelled just like it sounds.

This is a conspiracy against Seltyiel ... and I doubt he's happy about it O_O

But ... is Seltyiel ever happy? If he's normally unhappy, and you make him unhappier, isn't that like making him happy?

:)

Maybe it's just because it's a green, but her face looks really weird. This looks like the least faithful iconic mini thus far, unless the final metal or painted version looks different than this one.

Woo hoo!

As usual, Vic's guess is pretty much spot on.

Paizo Employee Franchise Manager

I am very glad they're two different minis. I don't know why they'd have been the same base, but it's nice to see that they are distinct figures.

Looks good (Yeah the face is a little odd but then I thought that when I first saw Lini anyway.)

The only difference I realy see in the face is the mini's cheeks are less round.

Looks gread but still waiting for Seltyiel.

I assume you Seltyiel fans have seen the green we posted? It's by Werner Klocke!

I really want to see the cat painted, looks like an intimidating one to do well.

Nah, he has his texture built in, makes it pretty easy:

Light gray base coat, drybrush with white.

Darker gray on top of face, back, legs, tail, drybrush with light gray.

Take an old semi-ruined round brush that's splayed out a bit, dab at where the spots should be with a a nearly-black gray-brown.

Take smaller semi-ruined round brush, jab at center points of spots with the darker gray (the color you used for his back).

Tan-pink on nose.

Ivory yellow on teeth, drybrush with white.

Green on eyes, dot or stripe with black.

Here is a simplified example of a snow leopard paint scheme you may want to consider.

I noticed these are back ordered... Any idea when more will be available?

Not specifically... but we are seeing Reaper at PaizoCon in two days—maybe they'll bring us some! (Or maybe not.)

Silver Crusade

I received my Lini, the first miniature I've ordered from Paizo. It looks good, but she's so big! She's 15/16ths of an inch tall, including only from feet to head (not including hair).

Is that normal? Are 6' characters two inches tall in miniatures?

What is the scale of these supposed to be?

If the scale is 1 inch to 5 feet, she is over 4' 8". If it's 28mm to 5 ft, she is 4' 3". If it's 28mm to 6 ft she is over 5' 1".

The maximum height for a female gnome is 3' 6" according to the PRD.

Are you measuring to the eyeline, or using her massive hair?

That hairdo is going to distort heights.

Game scale - that is the squares on the grid - is roughly 1 inch to five feet. But virtually no miniatures manufacturer has adhered to that with regard to height of minis in years.

The standard means of measuring these things is SUPPOSED to be from foot to eyeline. However, not every manufacturer seems to know this anymore.

Reaper does know it, but their models (of which this is one) can sometimes experience scale creep, and you will hear claims that they are anywhere from 28mm scale all the way up to 32mm scale. Splitting the difference, and assuming they are 30mm, that's roughly 1:54 scale. That would be 30mm from foot to eye for a figure representing an "average man," (a man 5'/8" tall - 1610mm to eye height).

Using the gnome height given (42 inches), we can convert that to 1066.8mm (let's call that 1067mm). Now, we have to adjust for the distance between the top of the forehead and the eyes (I have no idea). That would 120mm for a full grown man, but let's call it 60mm for a gnome. 1067mm - 60mm is 1007mm.

Now we can divide that by our rough scale approximation of 1:54. That's 1007mm/54 = 18.65mm (rounded up) or 0.73425 inch from feet to eyes. Almost 47/64ths of an inch.

Now, that's just an approximation of what she should be. It sounded like you measured from feet to top of forehead?. So you're measuring a little higher than you should be. But assuming a 2mm adjustment, she's still about 3mm over.

Thing about minis you have to understand is that there is creep amongst sculptors, manufacturers, artists, etc. And also there are practical considerations to take into account. A mini that is too thin will be very weak, and a mini that is too tiny will be hard to paint, and then hard to see. They take all of this into consideration when they sculpt these things.

Silver Crusade

I measured to the top of her head, not including her hair.

It's just really disappointing, since she's supposed to be half as tall as the humans, and she's not.
