They'll be all-new cards. I think the artist is yet to be finalized.

I thought wrong. They'll be by Christophe Swal, who will be making his Item Card debut in the Wondrous Treasure deck that's about to ship.

We would have loved to have had Vincent Dutrait continue to do the Item Cards, but he got a bit burned out on doing them, so he asked us to give them to someone else for a while. Vincent is doing some pretty kickass art for us for Legacy of Fire though!

Truer words have seldom been spoken amidst this community. The cards in these collections are pure gold. Heck, I've even used one or two as visual references for commissions I pay for at conventions.

Will this set be ONLY Pathfinder/SRD weapons, or will this also include weapons from the Campaign Setting? I really like the earthbreaker

On a very related note, I would support adding module items to these great card sets. My players do enjoy getting cards when they find stuff.

Heh. I'd like to see an item card set with a pistol/revolver and a rifle (with bayonet?) in it, but I won't hold my breath for those.

Steam Punk pistols and rifles with or without bayonets are excellent ideas. If Paizo ever does an item card set for Steam Punk adventures with either or both those items I know I'd want a copy.

I just noticed there's a pistol in the Dragon's Trove deck. I haven't seen it but I'm guessing it's like a single-shot dueling pistol?

Oh well, my request for a pistol/revolver and a rifle stands. I have a PC in my campaign with two masterwork six-shot revolvers. Plus I might like to run a Western campaign at some point.

I don't have the 110 card Dragon's Trove yet but it just went up a few notches on my wish list. (I prefer the 54 card decks though because they're easier for my budget to swallow.)

OH! You know what else would be AWESOME?! A sword cane! I'm just saying.

Yep..they are great for DMs and players alike. Also nostalgic for all of us that remember a similar try from wizards in the days of adnd.

PS: Have a look at the Gamescape pdfs on this site.I find their story card line an interesting addition to my collection.

I really hope this deck will have a bastard sword and katana or two. So far I've only seen one bastard sword at all amongst the card collections thus far.

It'll be interesting to see if the pathfinder adventure paths take a tour of the Grand Duchy of Alkenstar: Magic-Dead Scientific Microstate. If they do, you'll surely get your wish for pistols and the like for the item card set for that adventure.

The cards are great and are a hit with our group. One thing though, I have yet to see a net. I just noticed now that I was using some treetop monsters that net their opposition from above, I've searched all my sets and can't find a net. This would be a good set to release this in.

Halfspears have yet to be represented as well as nets.

I want more!!!! :O)

Which "other" set? I think most sets allow you to treat the items as mundane or magical. Some look fancier than others, but looking fancy and being magical aren't really the same thing. Even a mundane non-masterwork weapon could look attractive, it could just have poor balance/bad workmanship that keeps it out of the masterwork category.

I got Dragon's Trove so have the pistol in that set now (I mentioned maybe getting it above) but I'd still like to see a revolver-type pistol and a rifle w/ bayonet in a 54 card deck. I'd also like to see a net. Had the party brought down by a group of primitive humanoids with nets once. Oh, and a sword cane! Can't forget the sword cane.

I was confused. There's not a great sword in Elements of Power. I was thinking of the one in my Essentials deck.

Vic, or any one with the answer, is there a place or a PDF or something that has the symbols of the cards so I know what deck they have come from. I am purchasing some of the older Heros Hoard and Relic of War boosters and know I have some already but want to complete the set.

Yet right now all the cards I have are in a folder ( actually multiple folders) and I combine the same art work together so it is a little hard for me to see what was with what set.

If you guys had a place or file that had the symbols that are on the cards telling me what set they came from that would be awesome.

If not I will work on making one my self just it will take longer.

D'oh. IE, for some dumb reason, won't display CMYK JPEGs. I'd converted this one to RGB as soon as I got it from the art department, but then it looks like I uploaded the CMYK version anyway! Should be fixed now, though.

Just saw some of the artwork on Christophe Swal's website - looks pretty darn good. I loved Vincente's artwork in the first packs but Christophe's stuff is great too (still hate the Second Darkness cards).

My players are always salvaging the weapons of enemies they slay. I need lots of weapon cards so I can keep track of who is carrying what and better enforce encumbrance.

Nice to see another Bastard Sword. Also good to see a full selection of monk weaponry. Still no katana though. I'll keep hoping! :)

Man, I'm hooked. I used the Thanksgiving weekend sale to order cut-rate booster packs of Relics and Hero's Hoard. Just to try and fill in the three or four cards I don't have in each set. Maybe I should pass on this set . . .

I think there is a mitstake here : the Short Sword is from Christophe Swal and not from Kieran Yanner. And some sketches from Christophe Swal was also used to do colors (as the Dwarven spear axe here)... I think it should be clarified.

BTW, the pics above work just fine for my needs, so I hope that means doing up a digital product version would not be hard to do. As it is I only get to use these cards in my home game, but none of the 4 games I play or run on line using Maptools from RPTools.net.

Then again, its probably best you don't, I might feel bad if I turned the 12 or so people I play on line with into Paizo junkies like myself.

The answer for Item Cards is the same as it is for Map Packs: Several of us believe that if we offered them in PDF form, a significant number of gamers would choose the PDF edition exclusively over the print edition, which would mean smaller print runs for the print edition, which—since print costs are based largely on volume—would in turn mean higher costs for the print edition, which would lead to even smaller sales for it, which would mean we wouldn't have a profitable line anymore. So, it's just not in the cards.

If we want to pull back the curtain and really look into the sausage factory for a moment - looking at all the ugly details no one really should want to consider before biting into their delicious Item Card bratwust - this set of cards had a particularly unfortunate number of setbacks and problems.

As printed - said with the authority of one holding the entire printed set in his hands - every card and the credits card bears a credit for "Abyssal, Inc." The reason for this is twofold: as I'm told Abyssal either produced or tinkered with every illustration in the set, and our graphic designers (a team separate from those who order the art) are used to laying out entire sets with a single illustrator (as every previous set has had). As the finals for the entire set came from a single studio, that studio was credited for the entirety of the work.

In truth, another artist was hired to work on this set, but that artist was unable to complete the set for us. In the end, Abyssal, Inc. was able to take up the uncompleted project and finished the work with commendable skill and alacrity.

Ultimately, it works out that about eleven cards: sickle, mace, blowgun, javelin, club, dagger, throwing axe, pick, sap, falchion, and quaterstaff, (and perhaps one or two others that unfortunately slipped through the cracks with our recent FTP house cleaning and Abyssal's considerable work) were taken a measure of the way through the process by the original artist. As it's not our policy to air our dirty laundry online, I'd like to leave the matter at that, which I'm sure the original artist would appreciate.

It turns out that the three card fronts added earlier this week were non-final drafts; I've replaced them with finals, which credit Kieran Yanner's studio, Abyssal, Inc., instead of Kieran himself.

How about releasing a digital version 3 months after the print run? Or after the cards have sold out? Something like that?

Like I posted earlier, my needs would be for me to have both.

Besides, with these being as colorful as they are, the cost of printing them, on far inferior card stock as far as I have found in STAPLES, etc..., its actually cost EFFECTIVE to just buy your cards to also get the superior production quality.

Then again, people would have to be smart enough to see the value/cost differences, so maybe that isn't an effective point...

Yup. Since item cards are system-neutral, they don't use the OGL. Since they don't use the OGL, we can't really use words that Wizards of the Coast made up. And so we renamed the urgrosh and a few other weapons to make them generic rather than make this set the only one to have an OGL statement printed in it.

You know, I also play "gritty" RPG's such as Warhammer and Hackmaster, and it would be nice to have "poor" looking weapons, armor, robes, and the like for RPG's like these.

Plus your cards would fit in pretty well with the new Warhammer 3E's card heavy nature.

I've been hoping for some less flashy weapons and armor for some time, stuff I could use for mundane as well as magical. These look really nice and possibly less unique (no crystal shields of flaming rapiers), but I would buy several sets of "ugly" weapons and other items.

I'm enjoying the nice variety this set has. However, after dividing all of my cards from all the sets I own into categories I noticed that my armor stack is very thin. Any possibility of an Armor Locker Deck in the future?

Is there any current set that has a fair amount of armor I should pick up? I don't have Essentials yet, so I know I should get that for a basic line up.

I also want to second the vote for more arrows and bolts in future sets.
