Pathfinder Player Companions are an invaluable resource for Pathfinder players and Game Masters alike! Each 32-page volume contains player-focused articles exploring a specific theme or region found in the Pathfinder Campaign Setting. You'll find new rules, traits, magic items, and more for all types of characters that will better anchor them in the world of your own Pathfinder campaign.

Paizo releases Pathfinder Player Companion volumes monthly, with each issue providing you with new player-focused resources. With your ongoing Pathfinder Player Companion subscription, we'll send you each new installment and charge your payment method automatically as we ship each product. You only need to sign up once, and never need to worry about renewal notice or missed products.

Aside from receiving the latest supplements for your character, you'll also receive:

  • A free PDF copy of each release shipped as part of your Pathfinder Player Companion subscription

By starting a Pathfinder Player Companion subscription, each release will be automatically bundled with any other Paizo subscription items you're subscribed to releasing in the same month.

When you start an ongoing subscription, any existing preorders for products covered by that subscription are automatically cancelled (or have their quantity reduced by one if you've preordered more than one of an item).

WORD OF ADVISE:

The Player Companion line is not really checked thoroughly enough for balance or mistakes of the new content, because the monthly release window is too narrow for that with all the different contributors per book.

As a result there is a lot of power creep and sometimes a few underpowered things.

All in all one has to pick the Player Companion that appeals to him/her.

You should check with your GM for permission to use the new content though.

As a GM i would roughly allow half of the PCs content and ban the other half.

Being a Pathfinder Player Companion Subscriber, I disagree with this blanket statement. Do they make mistakes? Yes. Editing errors are made, including giving differing archetypes the same name. That has happened a few times.

However, power creep seems to happen more in 3PP than in these Player Companions, in my experience. Often, these options are more flavorful than optimized.
This is my favorite line of all of Paizo's products because many contributors are not part of the Paizo staff and therefore have some fresh new ideas (as do the Paizo contributors, also) not seen in other parts of the game line.
While $15 is a fair amount to pay for a 32 page book, I have yet to regret subscribing in the year or so I have subscribed (I think it will be a year in January?). Love Player Companion!

Do subscribers get a higher priority for products to get shipped to them, compared to someone who just pre-orders an individual product?
If not, what, if anything, determines in what order things get shipped out?

Usually books ship to subscribers between 16 and 5 days before they are available in stores (street date).

The order in which the individual subscribers receive their books differs.
But as soon as shipping begins, a subscriber may download the free pdf document of the book!

I don´t know about pre-orders, but if i had to guess, i´d say subscribers get them before.

5 out of the 5 3.5 "Pathfinder Companion" books are sold out.
12 out of the 69 "Pathfinder Player Companion" books are sold out.

"Pathfinder Player Companion: Dungeoneer's Handbook",
"Pathfinder Player Companion: Goblins of Golarion" &
"Pathfinder Player Companion: Weapon Master's Handbook"
each have less than 100 copies left in stock.
One of them will probably be the next one to sell out.

If everything stays on schedule, january 2019 should see the release of the 100th Player Companion!

On average, I have gotten my PDF within the first 3 or 4 days of shipping. Very worthwhile to be a subscriber.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens Subscriber

What does the cost for this run with shipping? I am interested, but trying to figure out if it would fit into my budget...

For me, I choose the cheapest method to ship. Shipping (from Seattle area to Tulsa, Oklahoma area) is about $4 and comes in a fantastic protective sleeve. Never had any of these bent in transit--ever. The physical book seems to take about 4-6 days to reach me once shipped.
Does that help?

Will there only be a PC bi-monthly next year?
I really hope that the even months will have surprise releases...

The exact order of shipments varies from month to month in no order that we can reliably predict. They do tend to batch identical orders together for efficiency, so subscription orders and pre-orders for the same products would go out at close to the same time.

The free PDFs are the main reason that subscribers can see the contents of known products before anyone else does, as these PDFs become available the moment the corresponding shipment leaves the Paizo warehouse.

Liberty's Edge

Pathfinder Companion Subscriber

What is the future of this subscription after Chronicle of Legends?

Will it be automatically canceled for every subscriber?

Can I leave it running without canceling even though there will never be new product?

Or is it possible that there will be new product under this subscription?
