I will be away most of December, can you please suspend any shipments to me until January?

I've brought this up a year ago but absolutely nothing seems to have happened with this. I'd like to get some addons on roll20 but it isn't being discounted properly on their end because while I own the PDFs here they are apparently for the special edition rather than the regular edition (despite having identical content).

Since it seems neither Paizo nor roll20 seems interested in correcting the syncing issues to check for both regular and special editions, would it be possible for me to be granted the regular edition PDFs in my account so the discount will show properly on roll20's end? At this time, I'd need the GMG, APG, and Bestiaries 2 and 3.

I applied a voucher to this order and part of it was put into my sidecart. I just wanted to confirm/verify that the remainder of the voucher would apply to the sidecarted item since I know the system can be a bit wonky sometimes...

There's two issues with the rewards in older seasons that had you draw random cards, so I'm starting this thread to shed some light on them and hopefully get a good resolution.

First issue: certain rewards are impossible to obtain if you play in scenarios above your tier. The Guide has the following rule:

Guide 6.1 wrote:
If you are rewarded with a card from the vault, instead take a random card of the same type that is not already part of your deck from your Class Deck box. The card’s level cannot be higher than your character’s tier. For example, if your character is Tier 2, and a reward gives you an item from the vault, you’ll take a random item from your Class Deck box that has a level no higher than 2.

This impacts the following rewards that all have you draw a card from the vault (and therefore your CD box):

0-3 (Adventure reward): Each character chooses a type of boon other than loot, then draws a card of that type that has an adventure deck number of 3 from the box. Adventure Card Guild characters may treat this card as an additional deck upgrade.
0-5 (Adventure reward): Each character chooses a type of boon other than loot, then draws a card of that type that has an adventure deck number of 5 from the box. Adventure Card Guild characters may treat this card as an additional deck upgrade.
1-5B: Each character chooses a type of boon other than loot, then draws a card of that type that has an adventure deck number of 5 from the box.
2B-2B: If you have the Shiny Eye Thing displayed next to your deck, choose a type of card other than loot and draw a card of that type with an adventure deck number of 2 from the box. Adventure Card Guild characters may choose a bonus deck upgrade.

If you earn the above rewards while at a tier lower than the scenario/adventure, as-written the reward has no effect (you aren't allowed to draw random cards of that level). This issue is further compounded by the fact you earn rewards before having the opportunity to increase your tier. Given these rewards are impossible to earn by lower-tier characters, it's unclear how to actually handle them.

The second issue is that these types of rewards just plain aren't fun for anyone. 80%+ of the time they will be completely useless, especially in later adventures when the reward doesn't specify to draw something on-tier (which is most of them in Season 0/1).

In my opinion a good fix would be to eliminate the quoted rule from the Guide entirely, and treat these rewards as drawing additional cards for the upgrade pool. We'll then need fixes in the scenario PDFs or a general Guide rule to specify that these types of rewards also give a bonus deck upgrade (for those that don't state such, which again is most of them).

Removing this rule would also remove ambiguity for recent seasons as well. 7-3A's reward begins with "Each character chooses a type of boon then draws a random level 3 boon of that type from the vault" -- this would also trigger the rule in the Guide, but it was confirmed by Keith Richmond that the 7-3A reward was intended to add a card to the acquired card pool instead of a random draw from the CD box.

tl;dr if we keep the above quoted rule in the Guide, the above-mentioned rewards need to get fixed so they aren't impossible to earn by people of lower tiers, and 7-3A's reward needs to get fixed to match the actual intent of it. A better option is to kill the rule entirely and just say all of these draws go into the acquired card pool for additional deck upgrade options.

The sanctioning document for the Wandering Way scenario (3C) includes the following sentence: "Characters may earn the reward for this scenario any number of times."

This doesn't seem to explicitly override the portions of the Guide that restrict you from earning XP and Hero Points:
"If you won a scenario your character has not won before, your character also gets an experience point"
"If you won a scenario your character has not won before, your character gets a hero point"

I believe to make it clear that XP and HP are intended to be earned each time the scenario is completed, the sanctioning document should be adjusted to read something akin to "Characters may earn the reward, hero point, and experience point for this scenario any number of times."

Outpost IV runs from February 16 to April 27. If people wish to continue playing after the convention is over, I am willing to continue running this table.

Please read below for some information on how I run my tables. By getting everyone on the same page, we can make the game run a lot more smoothly :)

Some ground expectations
1. Try to post at least once every few days in order to keep things moving. If you are going to be unavailable for an extended period of time, please ensure that your deck handler is linked and available for other players, and provide instructions so that other players can bot your turn. I recommend putting the link in your alias Profile, in the Class line. Wrap it in the url tags so it turns into a link -- see "How to format your text" below the reply box for details on how to do that if you aren't sure
2. Do not wait around for my scenario update posts, just base your turn around the most recent update plus what other players have done since then. I will post scenario updates upon request or if it's been a week or so without an update. To request an update, ping me on Discord.
3. There are no take-backs or retcons, with exception of invalid plays/turns. Use resources wisely, and keep in mind the other perks you get in Organized Play such as accessory re-rolls and hero points.

Things that make gameplay smoother
1. If a location is shuffled, you can continue to examine or explore cards in it by rolling a die to see which card you examine/explore. No need to wait on me to post an update first with the shuffled deck.
2. When encountering a card, be very explicit in what card you are encountering. This helps other players at the same location know where you left off so they don't accidentally encounter the same cards that you just got through and have to re-do their turn.
3. Use your Notes section to describe any cards or powers that can be used to assist other players on their turns and that you are willing to use. If you post that certain cards are available for use, have the card text available somewhere for other players to reference.
4. When something impacts another player (a power that affects all characters at your location, or you're playing one of their cards), bold that thing so that it stands out.

Things that make deck upgrades smoother
1. Write a list of your 2-5 most desired deck upgrades, in order, and roll 1d1000 for each of them. If you have any conditions on the upgrade, such as "I'll take this only if nobody else wants it or if my planned card X is better than anyone else's planned card" make a note of those as well.
2. That will let us look through those lists and see how we can get everyone their #1 preferred upgrade without lots of times lost in back-and-forth. If people are fighting over an upgrade, the d1000 roll is used to determine who gets it (highest roll wins).
3. You are free to disregard this and discuss upgrades normally; but try to keep discussions to a week at most so that we can move on to the next scenario.

I received a reply to the email I sent way back in August, but my issue was still not resolved. I sent a reply via email as well, but I'd like to get this resolved before March so I'm posting here on the forums for some increased visibility :)

Quite a few pre-Core weapons use wording like "If not proficient with weapons, the difficulty of the check is increased by 4."

Right now, there is nothing in the transition guide or conversion FAQ to modify this wording to a more general "If not proficient, the difficulty of the check is increased by 4." (which covers the additional proficiencies that Core allows, such as proficient with Swords).

Pre-Core Spells and Items that (now) go into recovery were re-mapped to simply say "If proficient, ..." instead of calling out specific proficiencies. Should pre-Core Weapons get the same treatment?

Blessing of Osiris has the following power: "When a character shuffles cards from his discard pile into his deck, discard this card to allow him to shuffle an additional 1d4 cards."

How does this interact with powers that heal a particular type of card? For example, Daji's power "If this card has no markers, you may discard a card and mark this card to heal 1d4 spells; if you have a role, heal 1d4+1 spells instead. At the end of your turn, remove the marker."

Let's say you have a role card. When using both powers, do you heal 2d4+1 spells or do you heal 1d4+1 spells and another 1d4 cards of any type?

When getting a special edition via a subscription (such that it grants the PDF as well), it seems that the PDF is not properly marked as "purchased" somehow:

1. The PDF shows up for download in Digital Content and I can download it, all is fine there.
2. The PDF does not show up on the product page for the regular edition as "(In your downloads)".
3. The PDF does not show as purchased to partners using paizo account sync (such as roll20), so the discount is not applied on their end.

While point 2 is cosmetic (unless I suppose if you try to buy the PDF twice), point 3 is pretty important. I'm guessing the two are related however.

For my account, this can be seen with the PF2 GameMastery Guide. Not sure if this bug is happening just to me or if it's something that's impacting more people.

This is the order for my April subscription, so would appreciate a solution before your warehouse raptors send it off :)

The shipping is marked as non-trackable. Can you change the shipping method so it can be tracked (and ensure that the shipping will be traceable in all future months as well)? I understand this may make the shipping a bit more expensive.

I have enough subs to qualify for both PFS and SFS scenarios, however I seem to only be receiving PFS ones. Not sure how long this has been going on for and how many SFS scenarios I'm missing because of this, but could this be looked into and relevant PDFs granted to my account?

"Suffering Damage" on p13 brings us the following quote:

Quote:
Collectively, the party may play no more than one boon of each type to affect damage to the same character from the same source, although powers that say they can be played freely do not count toward that limit.

This is all well and good, but how does this work when multiple characters suffer damage during an encounter or a check? Reading just that passage, it would seem that each character has their own limits on the damage instance. So, if a monster caused all local characters to suffer 1 Fire damage before acting, Valeros could use an armor to reduce his damage and Seelah could also use an armor to reduce her damage. Or, if fighting a monster that did damage to all local characters (such as the Cyclops in Skull & Shackles), Valeros and Seelah could again each play an armor on themselves to reduce it.

However, we have the following rule as well, in "Suffer Damage, If Necessary" on p12:

Quote:
(Remember that collectively, the party may play no more than one of each type of boon during a check, so if someone already played a spell on the check, a spell can’t be played to reduce damage.)

This seems to contradict what was stated on page 13. Note that this is a "reminder," so the same logic would apply whenever playing cards is restricted (such as the restriction during each step of an encounter). Let's take the Cyclops example from earlier, and say that Valeros is fighting such a monster, and fails his check to defeat by 4. This means that if Valeros plays an armor to reduce his own damage, Seelah is unable to play an armor to reduce her damage and is required to take the full amount. It would also mean in the before acting example, only one player total could play an armor, since it would be the one armor allowed in the Before Acting step of the encounter. Everyone else would be forced to take full damage (unless they have other means of reducing it such as a spell or item).

Can we get some insight into how this is supposed to happen?

Bonus question: if this is resolved such that the text on page 12 is in error and removed/reworded and the card limits reset for each source/character combination of damage, what happens if the same character takes multiple instances of damage from the same source? For example, Elemental Arachnid's (slightly reworded to use Core terminology) "Before acting, suffer 1 Acid damage, then 1 Cold damage, then 1 Electricity damage, then 1 Fire damage.". The wording on page 13 indicates that Elemental Arachnid is only still a single source of damage, so the party can only play one boon of each type across all 4 points of that damage, instead of one boon of each type on each individual instance of damage. This interpretation would be consistent with how such powers were ruled pre-Core, but I was never satisfied with that ruling. Since Core got some wording around the damage department, I'm hopeful that the pre-Core way of doing it was intentionally changed and that the rules just didn't get all the way there to make that clear.

Discussion thread. Cards Against Gnomanity II runs from June 21 to July 21. Fangwood Thieves consists of a single adventure, and I expect that we will finish it during the convention period.

Please read below for some information on how I run my tables. By getting everyone on the same page, we can make the game run a lot more smoothly :)

Some ground expectations
1. Try to post at least once a day in order to keep things moving.
I generally try to post an update after every 5-7 turns. If you would like one before then, please ask in Discord or on this discussion thread.
3. There are no take-backs or retcons, with exception of invalid plays/turns. Use resources wisely, and keep in mind the other perks you get in Organized Play such as accessory re-rolls and hero points.

3. Use your Notes section to describe any cards or powers that can be used to assist other players on their turns and that you are willing to use. This saves time because people can use your notes instead of having to ask and wait for a response if something is OK to use.
4. When something impacts another player (a power that affects all characters at your location, or you're playing one of their cards), bold that thing so that it stands out.
5. When you need to grab a random card, use the first card in the Random Cards spoilers that has not already been used (don't randomly pick a card from the spoilers). If you need a random card of a specific trait (such as a random Alchemical card), keep going down the Random Cards list from top to bottom until you find such a card. The random cards lists are refreshed with new cards each update.

3. You are free to disregard this and discuss upgrades normally; but try to keep discussions to 2 days at most so that we can move on to the next scenario in time.

Discord
There will be a discord server set up for this campaign, link to be posted later. Joining is entirely optional, but highly recommended; it typically speeds things up a lot when people can @mention each other and have an interface for chatting that is easier to use than this discussion thread.

If you are one of my players, please dot into this thread (post and then delete your post) to add this campaign to your page. Please check the Discussion thread as well for some basic information and helpful tips. More details will be forthcoming as the event approaches.

Per title, here's an example:

The First wrote:
When This is The Hour: When you would fail a check, you may bury 1 card to reroll 1 die.

So, if someone played a blessing on the check, would you be prevented from using this power? I'm pretty sure RAW the answer is "no, it doesn't count as playing a blessing" simply because the "When This is the Hour" is not in the "Powers" box (and is therefore not a power), and you only ever play cards by using powers on them. But, I wanted to get some second opinions since it came up earlier today and I wasn't sure how to rule it.

Going through the guide and I spotted a couple of issues that could stand to be addressed. Some are major and game-breaking, others are minor typographical things. They are listed in the order present in the Guide.

Issue 1 (Major): Feat limits break Season of the Righteous
In the Character Conversion sidebar on page 5, the "Adhere to Feat Maximums" breaks Season of the Righteous, which hands extra feats out like candy. For example, the AD2 reward that gives a skill feat for each medal checked off on the troop card clashes with this rule. Given how inflated the numbers are in the Wrath of the Righteous box, the loss of these feats will make the season significantly more difficult.

Issue 2 (Minor): The Hierarchy uses old wording
The Hierarchy sidebar on page 7 uses "set indicator" instead of "level" and mentions the Basic trait. When using the conversion guide in Core, the Basic trait no longer exists and we're instructed to treat all B cards as level 0.

Issue 3 (Major): Take One for the Team contradictory wording
Page 7 says "When that character is eligible to have played that scenario, that character may earn the transferred rewards as if she had played it." when describing Take One for the Team. However, the example on page 8 indicates that you can only apply the reward when your tier matches the scenario's # ("then when your character Melindra later advances to Tier 5, before playing any one Tier 5–legal scenario, Melindra could opt to earn the reward from the scenario you played with Kyra. If Melindra advances to Tier 6 without having opted to earn the reward, however, she loses the reward and the play credit.")

The sentence on page 7 indicates that it'd be possible to apply the reward as long as Melindra is either Tier 4, 5, or 6. But, the example contradicts that and limits it to Tier 5. Which is correct?

Issue 4 (Minor): Possible layout issue in Modifying Your Class Deck
The example paragraph with Balazar (bottom of first column in page 8) looks like it's part of the final bullet point at first due to the indent. It may be better if this paragraph does not have a leading indent given that it immediately follows a bulleted list, to make it more obvious that it is a separate paragraph.

Issue 5 (Major): Removing Cards From Play and Cosmic Captive
While this rule is a much-needed improvement in that "come across a boon" covers pretty much every scenario imaginable, the special 8-00 The Cosmic Captive gives such a card as a scenario reward. I believe the fix for this would be revising the scenario rather than the Guide, however.

There's issues with location removal in Core applying to older seasons, but I'm not going to bring that up here again; wanted to keep this focused just on the Guide itself. Overall I see a lot of positive changes to the Guide, so great job :)

I placed this order a while back but it's still listed as pending, despite one of the items being available on the store page (Pathfinder Society Adventure Card Guild #5-4: Rise From the Wreckage PDF). Could this order be finalized and that download be added to my account?

Discussion thread. OutPost II runs from March 11 to May 6, however we can continue this table afterwards as long as enough people are up for it.

Please read below for some information on how I run my tables. By getting everyone on the same page, we can make the game run a lot more smoothly :)

Some ground expectations
1. Try to post at least once a day in order to keep things moving.
I'll get a scenario update out once per day unless there is nothing to update. I'll have other (non-update) posts interspersed throughout the day as needs require.
3. There are no take-backs or retcons, with exception of invalid plays/turns. Use resources wisely, and keep in mind the other perks you get in Organized Play such as accessory re-rolls and die bumps.

I've seen a few threads where the OP made a relevant and on-topic thread (very clearly not a spambot), and then the OP followed up with a quote of someone replying to that thread including numerous spam urls embedded in the quote followed by a line and a "Thanks my problem has been solved."

I'm surfacing this here because the spam itself is a bit sneakier than normal and it seems the automated filters may need some adjustment, but also because the original posts made it seem like their accounts were being compromised instead of accounts created just for the purpose of spamming. I'm not sure what sort of logging paizo has, but it may be good to monitor this and alert the impacted users if this is indeed the case.

For people reading this: please please please stop re-using your passwords! If these are indeed account compromises, it is almost certainly the case that paizo was not compromised and instead the spammers got passwords from elsewhere and are just trying them here to see if they work.

EDIT: Addendum: It is also possible that these are indeed spambot accounts as I see the two examples I looked at are very new accounts. It's possible that the bots just found an earlier thread and then copied the original post into a new thread to make it seem more legitimate.

Discussion thread. Game runs from January 14 to March 8.

Some of you are coming from other tables I ran, whereas for some of you this is the first time I'll be running a table with you :)

Some ground expectations:
1. Pay attention to everything that the Overseer GM says. If they announce a condition of some sort without describing what it does, check for my follow-up post to describe what the effects of that condition are. I'll try to get those follow-ups out as soon as possible after the Overseer post.
2. Try to post at least once a day in order to keep things moving. If you are going to be unavailable for an extended period of time, please ensure that your deck handler is linked and available for other players, and provide instructions so that other players can bot your turn. Hangouts/Discord:
I'd like to start either a hangouts or discord chat for this campaign if everyone is on board (I have a slight personal preference towards discord but am fine with either). You don't have to do it if you don't want to, but it typically speeds things up. Please post and let me know if you'd be interested in joining it and which chat program you prefer.

Additional details will be forthcoming as the event draws near.

The product Pathfinder Society Adventure Card Guild #5–2—The Patchwork Prison PDF does not seem to be applying the 15% pathfinder advantage discount. I added it to my cart and it still shows $4.99. The previous PDF (adventure 5-1) is correctly discounted, for comparison.

Can you look into this?

Recruitment is open for Season of Faction's Favor Adventure 1 - Chasing Yellow Sails for the Pathfinder Society Adventure Card Guild. This is part of PbP Gameday VII, running from August 13th, 2018 until September 30, 2018. If there's time and everyone is interested, we can continue on to Adventure 2 and beyond, but we need to wrap things up on September 30 so that characters participating in this can also participate in Session 2's Assault on Absalom ACG tables (although, we can pick up again after AoA is finished if people want).

If you're interested in participating, please post a reply (indicating what character/class you want to play as well as your tier would be helpful, but not required). This adventure can accommodate characters from Tiers 1-2. The table has 6 open slots, and will run as long as at least 3 of those are filled. Recruitment is first-come, first-served.

If you have any questions, please post and ask :)

I threw the flip-mat classics onto this order in hopes that it'd still be eligible for the free PDF. I don't actually care about them going out this month with my sub order (they can wait for next month), so long as I get that PDF for the map :)

So, can you confirm that if it goes out next month that I'll still get the PDF?

I have 3 PDFs in my cart, but Pathfinder Advantage is only applying to 1 of them. All 3 should be eligible for the 15% discount. Can you look into this?
