Be on call though, if something were unfortunate were to befall our heroes... :)

Is it too late to add a life insurance policy onto the the things we want to start out with?

haha

Just typing 'haha' seemed like a waste of a post so here are some more words to make it look like I posted something of substance. Also, ooc text.

Edit: yay! 4th page!

I assume we will probably be fighting mostly benders anyway, but it might be tweaked further to work on non benders by paralyzing a random limb for X number of rounds. That might be a little too powerful though.

I don't see how having my jaw broken would prevent a firebender from doing anything over any other benders, as bending doesn't require any use of the mouth. Fire breath being the exception.

However, I don't want to seem all negative and confrontational. I would rename Jawbreaker to Ki breaker and alter the description to instead say something like '...you strike the opponent at several key points and block the flow of Ki. This Ki blockage causes 1d4 points of bleed damage. Until the bleed damage ends, the target is unable to use any bending abilites. A creature that is immune to critical hits or that has no bending ability is immune to the effects of this feat.'

Right, any bender of sufficient strength can learn any of those abilites. Its just high level, specialized katas, not a whole new class.

As it is its a bit like psionics(pity there aren't any core books). Psion is the base class but then you basically pick an archetype based around a core stat. It works a little like if a wizard specialized in a spell school.

As for prestige class the only thing I really see in that department is turning into the Avatar. Prestige classes tend to blend aspects of multiple classes, which don't really exist in this world.

Nothing else really to spend cash on, Monks tend to be a frugal lot.

Also, I've been slowly putting together my character sheet. He'll post in a few minutes probably. I just need to figure out skills and feats.

I noticed this before but didn't think of it until now. Just to be clear, am I right in reading that an Element Bending Monks unarmed attack does less damage at first level(1d4) than a regular monk (1d6)? I notice this is still higher than the 1d3 a regular unarmed attack does.

Edit:I assume its this way because you can seemingly throw in an unlimited number of katas into your flurry of blows.

Yeah, its right under where it talks about armor and weapon proficiencies. You always get your wisdom bonus to AC and CMD unless you're wearing armor and an additional +1 every 4 levels.

You know element benders aren't proficient with armor right? They lose the AC bonus, fast movement and flurry of blows abilities.

OK! fleshed out back story!

Quin Jee was born to wealthy parents, they were able to afford to send him to study under the great masters. However, having everything handed to him didn't do much for his drive to succeed. He eventually left the monestary under the protestations of his master that he was wasting his great potential. Moving back in to the comfortable life with his parents, Quin loafed around for nearly a year before they decided enough was enough and no son of theirs was going to be a no good layabout. They called in some favors and got him accepted into the Fire Army Officers school, there he met the bird masked man and his service began.

I know nothing about this mysterious masked man, so maybe hes just highly connected and heard about Quins potential and that interested him enough to come recruit him back out of the army for his own goals.

Wow yeah....that doesn't even seem to be a typo. I just assumed it worked like the child of the sun feat for fire benders. So according to the way its written water benders can punch like a truck but couldn't spit if they wanted to.

I thought we were all in, considering we were the only people to reply to the first thread.

I've been poking around a character sheet but haven't really finalized anything yet, and thanks for finding the updated element bender rules Hragas!

Edit: Also Tirq said he was on vacation so hes probably ignoring us to do fun vacation stuff.

just so i am understanding the class, you have to take the chakra level feat with almost every feat you get to be any good....

Yeah I noticed that thing about the chakra level, I would assume that everyone would also start level one with that feat for free...since you would have to take it twice to get any initial benefit from it....that and anything multiplied by zero is zero so our bending wouldn't actually do anything but look snazzy heh. Think we should modify the class slightly so we automatically gain a chakra level every two or three levels instead of needing to waste a feat on it?

Ok, so fire bender it is for me.

I'm thinking eldest son of a noble or well-to-do merchant. Mom and pop get sick of him loafing around the house and paying for bending lessons hes not exactly taking to. They call up the local Fire Nation recruiter to come pay him a visit and enter stage left our bird-masked friend.

Seems simple enough, and I enjoy writing.

A bit on topic though. Would we play in the last air bender era where the Fire Nation is at war with the world, or Legend of Korra. Or even further perhaps, because air benders are still pretty much non-existent.

I'll throw my interest in this down. I'm new to the PbP format but I haven't had an RP group in quite some time and I've started fiending for play lately heh.
