Didn't Ashley say that we fought this guy before the imprisonment. I wounder how long this tradition has been going on, how long I've been a participant.

With little modification this is possibly the best for me.

Paizo is being poopy butts! Been eating at least half my posts lately and its really disheartening me.

Mystics are probably the weakest damage class in the game, I'll admit. But my group would be dead with a capital D without our mystic healing and supporting us. They're REALLY good at support.

Joseph shakes his head once Ashley finishes her question. "Not a thing, again I only knew about you because of this thing." He holds up his ring for her to inspect. "It told me I knew you, when I asked it to bring me to you it dropped us off here." He puts a hand on his chin and rubs it. "It's been, almost a day I think, since I woke up like this. After I awoke I found myself grouped with this motley crew, I stuck with them, thought they'd help me figure out the goings on. After that we got a key to everything from a guy named Kamii that hired some mercenaries to kill us when we didn't give it back. We got them on our side though."

Joseph rubs his chin with his free hand. "Let's see, we sorta killed Kamii? Maybe? Meet with some crazy Lady of the woods who told us we where prisoners that where recently freed from some utopian society that doesn't exist anymore, and then we came here." He smiles at Ashley before ending. "So there it is, a quick summary of my day."

ALSO! Since this game is a pretty darn fast one, I took the liberty of making a Discord server for us.

Here

Join if you wish, I believe it will make small communications and the clearing of mix ups easier.

Bro I JUST played final fantasy 15, it was my first forae into the series and I loved the world and characters. I'd definitely be down for game based on something like that.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Glad we give you that impression!

Be cautious though, I feel like the nature of this game attracted the more creative and dedicated of the paizo community. I often find that adventure paths in particular draw in the crowd of people that don't really care to much about online games and are only applying because they think that a PBP will fill the void of a real life game when it's really an entirely separate thing.

Behold, the form you may call... Co-GM.

Everything so far seems cool as a cucumber and everyone seems to have a solid grasp of their characters, so me being the rules guy is unlikely to be relevant. The only thing I'm likely too say no to are abilities in the vein of "predicting the future" as Tass's has already said in the recruitment that that doesn't jive well with the theme of the game.

** spoiler omitted **

I was thinking about this earlier, and I think you should add in an effect for when you're been critically hit:

When you suffer a critical hit, instead of making a demoralize check, those within (x feet) who have been splattered by the blood and gore must instead make a Will save(DC = to your intimidate check) or run in fear.

******

Or, you could have them cower in fear, rendering them paralyzed, stunned, helpless, etc.

Maybe if the DC was equal to the unmodified DC I could see it. Though it's more about how Joseph clearly doesn't care about and even enjoys receiving tremendous wounds than it is about how gross the whole ordeal is.

Also welcome back Argos, Hope the family business went well.

Oh, then Joseph will give his level to Alyssa. Her character needs more levels to function as intended than Joseph. Who can spend his days as a level one commoner for all I care.

So here's my idea for Josephs personalized advancement.

Masochistic mania:

Joseph can turn wounds inflicted upon him into a gruesome and disheartening display for his enemies. Reminding them of the futility of fighting him

Whenever you take damage, immediately make an intimidate check with the damage taken added to the modifier too all creatures within sight. Ignore typical size penalties for this check.

If the party breaks up I'd totally be willing to help out with GMing. You providing me with the direction you'd like things to go and letting me hammer out the details would make things a lot easier while still keeping it as your game.

After seeing the negotiations veer south hard, Joseph rushes too Kamii. Not trusting his always poor aim to hit the man, or even near him for that matter, he brings the orange between him and Kamii and closes his eyes as he presses a finger into the orange. "Don't leave me while I'm out!" He yells just before his "Kamii"kazi.

I am actually loving this. The opening scene so far has more fat to chew and more tough choices than some whole campaigns I've seen.

Joseph is probably going to split off from the big guys, at least for the time being. He's going to be furious about not getting any information and'll probably try to convince those that wanted to hand the key over to split off with him.

As for his goals, he doesn't have any, not for the long term at least. Finding out what happened is priority number one.

I like this. You write very well my friend. We are lucky to have you as a GM.

Joseph looks at the five others presently surrounding him and begins too feel a sense of being out of his league. The muscles, the talons, the opposit sex. It all works together in quick succession to force the man too take a step or two away from it all and simply sit in the grass.

Deep breaths... He thinks to himself, slowly and consciously drawing air in only to exhale it after a few moments. The action occupys his mind and allow's him too begin processing all that's happening.

Everything's so crazy all of a sudden. Woke up in the middle of a forest after DEFINITLY bleeding too death surrounded by muscle men, talking animals and a woman that seems to be taking this way harder than I am... He looks around at the remaining forms. More to come too it seems.

The bird seems strange and dangerous, I'll keep my distance.
Joseph scoots a few feet away from the Vulture king.

The Bage guy seems fine, normal enough. A bit intimidating if nothing else.

Hercules seems to know a lot, it scares me. Might be worth getting in good with though.

The girl seems in the same boat as me. If we're all in the same boat then us two seem to have gotten the short end of the stick.

Most recent arrival seems suspicious, cute, but he seems way too quick to get used to this.

OH! I should pick up all those "Put yourself at great risk for your allys" feats like body guard and broken wing gambit. Invulnerability's surely to be a boon in their use.

Still needs character personality description and the like but mechanically sound.

Yep yep, I like to take a little more time on background and the like.

Here's his background.

Backround:
Joseph lead a fairly painful life. He was born with hemophilia. After twenty three years of managing, the day finally came where it happened. He had fallen after getting into a fight with a friend, the friend turned to leave immediately after pushing Joseph, failing to notice that he was unconscious and bleeding from his head.

Joseph remembers waking up with cloudy vision and confusion in his mind,
he could barely remember what happened. He just knew he felt weak and cold, he knew what that meant, he tried to sit up and failed, splashing back down into the roomwide pool of blood. Joseph bleed out that night, he died cursing his fragility, wishing for a second chance with a body that didnt die from a push.

And his personality

Personality:
Joseph is a kind, cautious person. He often puts others before himself, though he tends to shy away from conflict and prefers to keep out of danger he's not one to let things that he finds distasteful carry on.

Oh definitely, but I'm talking about after they're all nice and integrated and it might not be too out there to have one sitting at your table on game night.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

If a race of aliens showed up and integrated into society, would paizo turn them into a playable race?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

SPAM CYCLOPS! They are pretty much a death sentance to anything that's close to you in power, and even later on they're pretty much a garentead 50 damage a round plus a few meat shields.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Well, the best AOO build I can think of is a mounted half-elf reach hunter, using teamwork feats and high crit ranges to get upwards of 12 AOO's out of one AOO. All this combined with the fact that hunter has access to a bunch of stuff that boosts AOO's (Like paired oppurtunist, snake animal focus and outflank+pack flanking) means that most of those attacks will be hitting at around +25.

I would say keep going. 4 man group is what most AP's are geared towards anyways.

Funny thing about halflings, their save bonus, literally called "Halfling luck" is not a luck bonus.

Deadeye Bowman: Seriously, worship Erastil and ignore soft cover on your longbow shots if it is provided by just one creature. It is really amazing, hardly need to position yourself anymore, and you can have at lvl 1!

Eh. I don't like it that much. A little bit of teamwork makes it mostly obsolete, and since most archers are going to pick up Imp. precise at some point anyway it eventually becomes a dead trait. Not even mentioning the fluff restriction and the fact that you actually cant use it with a composite longbow.

I almost got my whole group killed because I convinced them to buy hundreds and hundreds of house centipedes to let loose as a trap for a convoy we where supposed to ambush. The guy we bought all those centipedes from sure was happy.

20 is way more than workable. My 12th level inquisitor still doesn't have a 20 in a stat and he's doing great. I get that you must play in larger than life games, but to most people there high stat will usually be a 18 after racial bonuses.

Rollings really has no advantages, in that you cant really pre-balance adventures around rolled stats.

Incorrect. In order to take the charge action as a standard action you need to be FORCED into only taking a standard action. like when your staggered.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Well, I think there just needs to be more ways to allow movement with a full attack. Pounce is a prime example, but that's not very accessible. There need's to be an option that most classes can take (With a little investment) that lets them move and full attack. Heck, just letting the full BAB characters have a 12th level ability that's just "You can now move up to your speed and make a full attack action" could help them out a lot.

Her Crunch isn't completely finished but it's mostly just the shadow that needs stating.

Why you are a thief:
"That's a bit of a doozy of a question now isn't it? Well, I suppose I wouldn't call myself a thief at all, I would call myself a liberator. I take things that people don't deserve, need or are to selfish to part with willingly to help the people that need it.

Oh my that sounded a little preachy didn't it? Sorry, lets move on to the next question."

Your favorite past exploit/crime/?:
"Well that's as easy as asking me how many fingers I have. It was my first crime." Marina sneer's and puts up some air quotes ""Crime." Heh, but yeah, I escaped with some of my family and friends from Cheliax. It was probably the hardest one to date to, didn't have my little buddy helping me out." Marina holds up her hand to her side and after a moment a inky black arm shoots out of her shadow and slaps her outstretched hand.

How did you get caught and locked up in the Black Whale?:
"Carelessness mostly, I was looking into a passing convoy carrying some trade goods, "trade goods" to Cheliax. I suppose you could say I tried to bite off more than I could chew getting them out by myself. Should have just waited a little bit longer, might have gotten a better opportunity."

What is a crime you've always wanted to commit?:
"Well, the family I used to work for is one of the cruelest most slave extensive family's in Cheliax. I want to bring them down, I want to make it to where they cant afford to own one more person, I want them to be NOTHING when I'm done with them."

List three people your connected to, either through love, hate, rivalry, contact, blood:
"Let's see, lately the Bellflower network and I have been interacting a bit, they're the ones who got me the lead that got me thrown in the Black whale.

There's a little Pub in the puddles called The Soggy Pipper, the owner there gives me odd jobs sometimes. It's often really strange stuff, but it pays well for the kind of work it is and he seems to know something about every place in the city, I don't know how he gets all that money though.

Lastly there's another bar that I frequent, not for work, but for actual fun, there's a group of mercenary's there that for some reason took me in as there mascot. I tried to tell them that I'm not a very glib halfling but they where having none of it. I think they'd help me if I asked them, they seem pretty loose."

I personally like the idea of a skilled rider and mount pulling quick maneuvers to simultaneously fight multiple people at once. I also just generally disagree that its more unreasonable to quickly mount and dismount multiple times in six seconds than it is draw and shoot multiple arrows.
