Far be it from me to steal keftiu's thunder, but I didn't see one of their signature Character Concept threads for this AP and since my spouse has decided they want to run this adventure I figure I'd be the first!
We're still a ways out from starting (we're waiting for the Reign of Winter campaign I'm GMing to conclude first) but several of us have already started cooking up characters for the AP.
Mine is Xanthe of Aelyosos, a minotaur Fighter/Kineticist originally from Iblydos (full stats to be completed once Howl of the Wild comes out) who was Myth-Spoken by the cyclops mummy known as Stone-Eye to become the latest hero-god of that island. Problem is...she completed her foretold quest, but no mythic power was forthcoming. Barely fighting down panic and an identity crisis, she joins in on the campaign to "correct" her fate and obtain the demidivinity she feels is her due. I'll find out as the campaign goes on whether she overcomes that urge.
I'm attempting to start up a new campaign, and my Gameplay thread won't let me or any of my players post.
I was having the same issue with the Recruitment thread, but after Unsetting and re-setting it up it appears to be working okay now. However the campaign edit page doesn't give me the option to Unset the Gameplay tab, so I'm not sure how to resolve this.
Unset the previous thread, hopefully this works. If you can see this, please comment in and once everyone has checked in I'll post a Discord invite link.
The subject line says it all, I recently discovered Lancer and immediately fell in love with it. I am considering running a game and hopefully also getting to play it sooner than later. This is just a check to see if there are others interested in playing a smaller game like this.
Welcome to the discussion thread! Please introduce your characters and tell us a little bit about your expected role in the party. In addition, I'd like to have a round table about if/how your characters know (or at least know of) one another. The Dalelands are a fairly rural/pastoral setting so active 10th level characters would be figures of note.
The hardy folk of Daggerdale have been suffering raids by a long-feared foe--the dhaerow, or drow, wicked demon-worshipping elves who dwell in the dark depths of the world and emerge onto the surface only to murder and enslave, to the wags in the taverns tell it. In recent weeks they have begun creeping out the Dagger Hills to raid villages and isolated farmsteads, driving mobs of ravening undead before them. Some locals blame the sun elves, insisting their so-called Return is stirring up old evils best left alone. Others claim the drow have formed an alliance with the hated Zhentarim, while still others contend that the drow would have started raiding human lands sooner or later--and it's a wonder it wasn't sooner.
Randall Morn, the Lord of Daggerdale, is already beset by problematic neighbors and fiercely independent subjects as the world rapidly changes around him. His resources are stretched to their limit, and so has put out a call for heroes to track these dark elves down and put an end to their depredations.

Welcome to my recruitment for City of the Spider Queen converted to PF1. I've upgraded and modified the encounters to be a more reasonable challenge to a party of five Pathfinder characters. This campaign takes place in the Forgotten Realms setting, but I don't expect any of you to be 3.5 FR lore-hounds so please don't sweat it too much if you aren't familiar with that setting. If you are, that's awesome too.
MY EXPECTATIONS
1) Posting rate of 1/day (including myself). I don't always manage to post every single day, and if there's a prompt or player(s) we're waiting for I will usually say so in Discussion, but I generally prefer to keep up a strong pace because otherwise PBP games tend to bog down and players' attention starts to wander, in my experience.
2) 10th level character building using 20pt buy, no race or class restrictions but I reserve the right to veto if something seems over the top or gets out of hand. Standard WBL (62,000gp) but you cannot spend more than 20% of your wealth on any one item. 3pp material is not automatically going to be rejected but it will face a higher degree of scrutiny, and if your build includes 3pp material please specify what and where you got in in your submission.
3) Give me knives. A good mechanical build is one thing but what appeals to me most is a good character, . Hopes, flaws, hooks, all of that is good. To help get those creative juices flowing I like to use a short questionnaire that helps turn your character into a person; use it to lovingly craft knives and give them to me to stab you with :)
Character Creation Questionnaire:
Please list two goals your character has. Try to avoid self-evident things like “I wish to become more powerful” and focus instead on tasks or deeds you wish to accomplish. “I wish to become more powerful…in order to find and defeat the night hag who cursed my beloved and break the spell” is much better.
You character has three secrets.
1. A secret the character keeps from others,
2. A secret that has been kept from your character, and
3. A secret determined by the GM!
Please list 3-5 important people in your character’s life, no more than one of whom should be an enemy. This can be friends, family, mentors, or anyone else who has had a strong impact on your character’s life. Again, this should be more than just a “kill list” of enemies you want to fight :)
4) For the maps I prefer to use Roll20, though the gameplay and RP will all be done here. Handouts, maps, visual references etc are just all easier to do in Roll20.
5) I will choose a party of FIVE CHARACTERS with submissions being open until Friday 12/04. If you have any questions or desire more information/context for designing your character please let me know!
Sorry, didn't realize the Discussion thread hadn't posted up. Please dot in here, and if you want to make any last-minute adjustments to your character now is a good time!
Hello, welcome to my first PF2 recruitment! I'll be running the module "Hollow's Last Hope" fully converted, followed by "Crown of the Kobold King"
I have played some PFS2e and am a player in an Age of Ashes campaign but have yet to GM a game in this edition, so this will in many ways be a learning experience for me and I thank you in advance for your patience.

2) Build rules. This is pretty straightforward, since there's much less PF2 material relative to PF1. All races and all standard class options/feats/items etc are available. If you want Uncommon spells or feats you'll need to clear it with me first.
3) Give me knives. A good mechanical build is one thing (though I'm less practiced at assessing one in PF2) but especially in PBP what appeals to me most is a good character. Hopes, flaws, hooks, all of that is good. To help get those creative juices flowing I like to use a short questionnaire that helps turn your character into a person; use it to lovingly craft knives and give them to me to stab you with :)

4) I will choose a total of 4 characters for the party, and submissions will be accepted until midnight on Wednesday 11/18. Then I'll need a few days to review and my decisions will be announced on Sunday 11/22 so we can start gaming the following Monday.
Alright, so a small confession: more or less for fun I have converted about 4/5 of the D&D 3.0 adventure City of the Spider Queen to Pathfinder.
I don't have any plans to run it IRL and honestly my IRL group isn't all that interested--drow kind of wore out their welcome in our circles--but I figure why let good conversion work go to waste so I'm putting out some feelers here!
The adventure starts at Lvl10 and carries the party all the way to Lvl17 or 18 by the end. While drow are the central antagonists it also features plenty of undead, demons, giants, and assorted aberrations. It takes place in the Forgotten Realms setting so I'd be using that cosmology/deities/etc but otherwise standard Pathfinder 1e rules. Be aware I would be applying the rules of faezress (a sort of magical radiation that occurs in some places of the Underdark) so teleportation will be very iffy.
NOTE: this would be in addition to my upcoming PF1 modules converted to PF2, not replacing it. Assuming there's sufficient interest in both.
I find myself contemplating running a PF2e game to get used to it on the GM side of the screen, but I'm not ready to take on a commitment as large as a full AP. My understanding is that converting 1e materials to 2e is fairly easy, though I have not yet done it myself. Would people be interested in playing PF2e version of various modules? If so, which ones?
I could put together a survey if that would be easier, or post your top 3 preferred modules and we'll crowdsource something. At least at first I'm going to do a lower-lever module but I have a strong desire to run something like Moonscar (heavily modified) or Feast of Dust when I'm feeling more comfortable with the conversion process and the 2e ruleset as a whole.
Welcome to my Tyrant's Grasp game! I fell in love with the AP immediate from the excellent book one, and while not every volume of the AP is as stellar as its introduction it is overall a great adventure and breaks with some of tropes of high fantasy TTRPGs.
I know I've mentioned this before, but I just want to reiterate for everyone: in this AP your characters will die, and short of abandoning the main story there's no real way to prevent this. This triggered a lot of criticism from some corners of the fanbase, and while I think much of that was bleed-over from people unhappy about PF1e ending I'd still like to emphasize that the ending is very much not "and then Tar-Baphon wins and nothing you did matters."
This is ultimately a story about doing practical good where you can and sacrificing to protect others--even giving up everything for what you know is an incomplete victory. I just wanted to be clear about this upfront so no one feels caught out that your character that you've shepherded through a PBP for the past...ten years or something is going to perish.
In my two homegames I have six players each; in one of them there was a druid and a summoner so really there were eight(!) combatants, while in the other there were no familiars or animal companions and wow what a difference it makes. For both personal preference reasons and plot reasons I don't recommend starting with an animal companion or familiar at Lvl1. Summoners or conjurers are fine but it will be your responsibility to know what the stats of your summons are, including any feats or abilities that modify them.
The past decade has not been kind to the city-state of Bard's Gate or the Stoneheart Valley as a whole--and many of the troubles of these recent years appear to have something in common: they occur or originate in the Valley of the Shrines to the north.
This coincidence has not gone unnoticed by the powers that be in Bard's Gate, and so at their behest the fading Church of Muir has commissioned a small band of adventurers to investigate what evil (if any) has taken ruin in the Valley of the Shrines. What will you find there, in the foothills of the mighty Stoneheart Mountains, where unknown dangers and the faded glories of noble gods yet rest?

Hello!
I created a new PBP campaign and the gameplay thread won't post anything. I took awhile on my first post, so it may have timed out but I don't know if that would cause the entire thread to go on the fritz
Please help! I hope this is the right place to post this.
The DISCUSSION thread should be used for out-of-character discussion, questions, player-to-player banter (as opposed to character-to-character).
For the most part the GAMEPLAY thread should be in-character posts, with the main exception explained below.
Underneath the text box you should see a "How to format your text" section, that will show you how to makes words bolded or italicized, larger or smaller, etc etc. It won't you long to want to jump out a window figure it out and start posting!
My group and I have had an unfortunate steak of bad luck with GMs for our Rise of the Runelords campaign, over the holiday break our most recent GM disappeared. We're currently partway through Book 1, about to begin our assault on a goblin island base (and also rescue/recuit a replacement character in the process).
It's a great group with a lot of excellent role-playing, and we'd like to keep the campaign going--would anyone be interested in taking up GMing with us? Several people in the group also GM other campaigns on the board so I think it should be doable to swap a game for a game!
Our most recent GM had a few house-rules on economics & item prices, if you don't want to use those we'll need to do some minor rebuilding for our characters but it shouldn't be a major issue.
I haven't done a GM recruitment post before so please ask questions if I missed something!

Alright, so my party has recently captured Tidewater Rock, went to Bloodcove to make nice with the Aspis Consortium after stealing two of their luggers, and are now sandboxing around until they get about a third of the way into Lvl6 when I'll throw Isabella Locke's assault on the Rock at them.
Thing is, I want to mix up the ship encounters a bit because the ones in the book are pretty same-y and I want to avoid boring the party. Current ideas:
--upped the challenge for the Sanbalot by making the captain an Air-kineticist and giving the manticore a ranger-archer rider.
--Jolis Raffles has offered to "sponsor" their effort to get a letter of marque from the Hurricane King if they'll take care of one of the Rampore Isle slavers for him. The ship I have in mind is an armored frigate called Ironroar and its captained by a tiefling Gunslinger/Cleric of Cixyron & a cyclops Gun Tank.
Does anyone have any other ideas for memorable ship fights that don't step on the toes of later awesome encounters like Dyrad's Grave? Thanks for any and all suggestions!
What a lively day! Today is a day of celebration for the mystery cults of Ashava, the Empyreal Lord of dancers and moonlight. Small processions of the brightly dressed but veiled celebrants can be found all over the city's safer districts--especially, it seems, here in the Lowcleft District, affectionately called "the Rubble" by locals in reference to the small but frequent
Taking advantage of the dancing cults and the crowds of gawkers, numerous small merchants, local businesses, and street entertainers have set up their stalls or thrown open their doors, and here at least a festival atmosphere reigns. Children run in shrieking packs, musicians play, traders hawk their daily specials, and a few bystanders join in on the dancing processions (perhaps prompted by one to many mulled beers...)
Alright, so it is almost midnight here for me, so I'm headed to bed and will get the Gameplay thread up tomorrow. Welcome and I'm excited to game with you all!

Alright, recruitment is open! Looking for five players for a non-AP campaign that starts off in Magnimar with investigative elements, but eventually heads into the Darklands as the mystery gets unraveled.
Character Application
1) 15pt buy
2) Open to all Paizo races under 15RP
3) Starting Level 2
4) No 3rd Party Material--I don't own any of it and don't feel like hunting it down. I'm going to have enough work as it is since this isn't a campaign from a book.
5) A quick note about homebrewing: I'm a firm believer that the published rules are not intended to be the sum total of what exists in the multiverse, and so on occasion I'll borrow/create concepts & rules for feats, monster abilities, etc. It's not a lot, maybe 5-10% of the time, but if you encounter a thing that makes you do a double take and say "I've never seen that before in PF" that's why. I'm careful not to make anything OP because whatever I create is potentially accessible to PCs too (i.e. feats, spells, items, etc).
6) Please include a decent-sized paragraph for character background, I'll be assessing characters based on the total
7) I'm really going to put my foot down about regular posting, at least once a day. I have another game where 2-3 players rarely post even with prompting and it's incredibly frustrating.
As always, feel free to ask any additional questions that I overlooked. Recruitment will remain open for two weeks, until April 18.

Hey y'all, I have been/am a player in about 6 PBP games, not counting the ones that fell apart after a week, but I'm only the GM of one. I have a couple of campaign ideas bouncing around in my head and thought I'd ask for people's thoughts.
What are y'all's preferences between:
1) Kingmaker AP. Exactly what it says on the tin. Wouldn't be opposed to doing Second Darkness or Jade Regent either.
2) "Ilyarandin, Cradle of Nightmares" Inspired by Lost Cities of Golarion, this campaign would start off in Magnimar but eventually lead into the Darklands.
3) "The Sunspawn War" Also inspired by LCoG, this campaign would start at level 5 and have a narrower focus: the party would play as a Mordant Spire strike team, quietly infiltrating the island of the Sun Temple Colony to disable the temple's powerful artifact-weapon.
I'm also a longtime lover of 3.5 Forgotten Realms, so if people are interested in that I have a zillion ideas.
Steel walls. Steel floors. Steel ceilings. For six months since you left the mustering ports on Sinophia you’ve been barracked in the narrow metal halls and chambers of the Radiant Throng, a converted mass-haul conveyor commandeered by the Imperial Navy and converted into a troop transport. By the standards of Imperial vessels she’s not big, but she comfortably holds the 5,000 fighting troops of the 304th Teutonian Crusaders, including support staff, though perhaps “comfortably” isn’t the best choice of words. Each day goes much like the rest; roused at 0600 by your sergeants, marched to ship’s central loading bay where the sergeants put you through your paces. The food is bland, the accommodations spartan and uncomfortable, and you barely even see the crew—just servitors, moving through their programmed duties without seeming to even recognize your presence. Most of the troopers give them a wide berth, and try to fill the long hours of down-time as best they can.
But now, at last, you’re nearly to your destination—regimental scuttlebutt has it that you’re reinforcing some half-civilized hellhole out on the fringes of Imperial-held space, but nobody at your pay grade knows exactly who, where, or what. As your platoon embarks upon its designated lander, Lieutenant Konrad Bremen shouts orders up and down the line, consulting his data-slate as he speaks.
Lt. Bremen:
”All right, troopers, final gear check then strap in before this tub gets moving. Our pilot informs me that we should be making landfall in about forty-five minutes. This planet is called Skrynne, and it’s classified as a frontier world. Lots of thick vegetation, low population density, above-average incidence of aggressive predators. Imperial defense line is made up of a string of fortified fire bases, each projecting force sufficient to pacify the surrounding environs. Company D has been directed to Supply Depot Gamma-29, where we will reinforce the current garrison. Further orders when we hit planet side. Strap in!”
The lander’s loading ramp rumbles closed, and you feel the deck beneath your feet vibrate slightly as the engine powers up. There are no windows, no pict-feeds, no way to see anything going on outside the ship. The interior is dimly lit by dull red lights lining the floor, and all around you are the sounds of clacking buckles, lasrifles being racked, and the low mutter of your comrades.
Alright, so I have seen a posting rule employed on a few other threads that I'd like to borrow: the "Rule of Two". Namely, if a player suggests a course of action, and another players seconds it then that's what the group does, in order to keep the pace decent. If a player has a strong objection to the named course of action then they can naturally voice their concerns, but as a general rule I think it's useful. Is this acceptable to everyone?
Comrade Gear:
I've had this come up in previous games, so feel like it's necessary to note here. Comrades are not quite the same as NPCs, but for the purposes of equipment we'll treat them as such. Your Comrade will generally be considered to have the same ammo count as you--if you run dry, so do they. They will always possess the same Standard Kit gear that you do, however, so a Comrade who gets killed partway through a mission might have valuable munitions on their corpse like grenades or an unused Exterminator. I will even allow you to order them to attack with these weapons as a full-action Comrade Order. I think that's fair and helps provide incentive for keeping Comrades around ;)
Pathfinder Lost Omens, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber
A bit later than I'd hoped, but I'm pleased to start GMing my very first PBP. Since I'm still new to this particular format, we will be starting with a one-off adventure, "Against the Savages" from the Only War Core Rulebook. If all goes well I'll move on to a longer campaign, set in either the Spinward Front or the Jericho reach.
I'm allowing rules from Core, Shield of Humanity, and Hammer of the Emperor. Ordinarily I would also allow rules from Dark Heresy sourcebooks but I unfortunately don't have access to my copies at this time. Players should be able to provide a reasonable fluff-based rationale for their choices, and I reserve the right to veto options if I deem it necessary, though I don't anticipate that I'll need to do so. For the full-length campaign I'll want applicants to have a say in selecting & designing their regiment, but for now we'll be using one I've already generated below.
Teutonian 304th Crusaders (12pts):
Homeworld: Fortress world
Regiment Type: Siege Regiment
Commander: Sanguine
Doctrines: Anti-Armor, Well-Provisioned
Favored Weapons: RPG Launcher, Lascannon w/gun carriage
Drawback: Regimental Rivalry
The 204th are a proven force of vehicle killers, skilled at digging in and obliterating enemy armor or bunkers with a few well-placed lascannon shots. Infantry fight in support of the weapon crews, using RPGs and heavy stubbers to fend off enemy infantry while the lascannons do their work. The fortress world of Teutonia has defended the Leil Sector against the depredations of Chaos warbands from the Asamene Cluster, and the Crusaders take a fierce joy in killing heretics. The regiment even boasts several platoons of ogryn auxiliaries, usually trained as Bullgryn shock troops.
After a quick reread of the rules, I've only settled on one house rule for this particular mission.
1) Fate Points. RAW says that players regain their FP every session, but since we're doing this via PBP your Fate Points will be restored at the conclusion of each "mission." In exchange, each player rolls normally on the FP Table then adds +3 to their total. You'll have more points, but they won't replenish frequently, so use them carefully.
I'll be accepting 4-6 characters, and the application window will be open until November 20. I'd like to keep this moving quickly along, so I expect players to be able to keep up with a minimum of one post a day. If for whatever reason you won't be able to post for a few days please let me know in advance, I realize that life happens. Looking forward to your submissions, feel free to ask questions if there's anything I've overlooked!

So by my count there are 17 (counting Strange Aeons) APs set all over Golarion, concluding with quite powerful characters, usually level 16-17 or thereabouts. Assuming 4-person parties and a 25% casualty rate that's 51 movers and shakers loafing about. In your worlds, where do these powerful characters go? After you complete an adventure path, do you do epilogues, continue playing, or does every powerful adventurer embark on a planar journey, never to be seen again?
Just curious how other people handle their canons.
