Hello,

I'd like to invite you all to brainstorm a series of trials of Gorum in his plane, for a fallen warrior - a Thundercaller I'm returning to the game after three years of in-game time, in an auspicious thunderstorm, as the party is regrouping from the loss of a party member on his holy ground (a temple of trials itself).

I'd like to "level up" the Thundercaller via a solo adventure where Gorum judges his soul - to see whether he is worthy of being returned to enact his will. This solo adventure would be a simple series of trials, and after each trial the player would level up his character in order to face the next one.

A chance of failure should be there, but mostly for bad/lack of planning or abysmal dice rolls. The tests should have the option to just "dice it out" if the relevant stats are good enough, but would also feature a trick or tactic that would help immensely - preferably ones that feature sound, thunder or lightning.

The tests would be related to the six attributes

Test of Strength
Test of Agility
Test of Endurance
Test of Tactics
Test of Will
Test of Power (related to sound / thunder)
Test of Prowess - a final combat encounter.

The character would start the trials at 3th or 4th level and finish at 10 after the Trial of Prowess, leveling up after each trial.

I'm not looking to replicate the trials in a certain Kingmaker adventure, but they can be similar.

Thanks!

PS. Here is his character at level 1 and here's the link to the Thundercaller bard variant: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/bard/archetypes/paizo---bard-a rchetypes/thundercaller

"In a storm, he was conceived,
with lightning, born,
with thunder, named.",
from Ode To Tsadomax.

.. And as lightning streaked across the horizon and the wind blew, with one final yell Tsadomax lifted the Stone Of Trials above his head. An awed silence followed. Not since the time of Durok, had one so young become a man.
As he grew older, so did his legend. His music was so loud it could be heard in the halls of Gorum, his strength such that he could swim the fiercest rapids and climb the highest mountains. Admired by most, feared by all, he is the son of storms, the Spirit Caller.

They called both the capital and the realm Riverhaven due to the Stag Lord's fort's location and theme.

Yes, I agree that rewarding the players for the fortifying sounds good, but I would indeed have to raise the level of the troops and their preparedness in order to attack Tatzlford. That is an option, but then again they've established a settlement at the hex of the Temple of the Elk, which they insist on calling the town literally "Temple of the Elk" but the simple folk just call it "Elkton".

So probably the attack will simply shift there.

However, there is the case of the army rushing to the rescue as well, and for that the players will indeed defeat the enemy rather handily.

So, my players, reasonably enough, have secured their western border town in the forest with a Castle.

Any recommendations about what to do about the attack on the town? Could Ameon even have the resources to take the castle, realistically - after all, we're talking siege engines and a major engagement against a fortified town rather than an undefended village now.

With Ameon's forces staying relatively the same, what would be their plan of action now? Occupy the town and lay siege to the castle?

The PC kingdom does have some armed forces that are relatively fast to deploy from the Stag Lord's old fort hex in addition to the castle's permanent garrison.

Thanks!

In my Kingmaker game, one of the players decided outright after receiving the charter with the right to rule that she's a queen now.

I tried to explain how noble ranks are an established international etiquette and a way to establish superiority between nobles of different lands, but he firmly believes that an independent state always has a queen and is free to nominate whatever titles it wants, which I feel is just not how things work, not in medieval times and not in Golarion.

On the off chance that the rest of the group (she's a co-ruler) lets it happen, what sort of consequences would you recommend, domestically and in foreign politics, for deciding to spit in the face of noble etiquette and rank hierarchy like that even before the first village has been built?
