Female Aasimar (Angel-Blooded) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 4 | AC 18 (t 13, ff 15) | F+6, R+5, W+2 | Init +3, Per +4 | HP 5/39

Yeah, that's kind of what happened with Xan - I built her as a way to try out the Aldori archetype and then bolt a backstory on that... I'm happy with it, it's just Xan's personality I could never work out.

As for Exalted... frustratingly, despite backing the 3e core book on Kickstarter a few years back, I still have yet to find a group for it. Which is really frustrating because I worked out a great character I want to play. There's a lot I love about the system's design - and a livestreamed campaign that Beanduck is running is pretty good so far - but I'm basing this on second-hand accounts and such.

I wasn't worried about it under-performing, I just couldn't really get into Xan's head much. And, as I said, I'm getting kind of burnt out on Pathfinder in general (probably from having binged on stuff for Exalted a lot lately since the Kickstarter for Lunars: Fangs at the Gate).

Mechanically, all I had in mind for Xan was to eventually take that Angel Wings racial feat for aasimar (and potentially the one that makes the wings metallic, hadn't decided but the extra natural attacks could've helped with the damage thing). I really just took the archetype because I'm a sucker for dex-oriented melee combat and the Swashbuckler either wasn't out when I first made her or, for whatever reason, didn't appeal to me for Xan (probably the reliance on Charisma and I kind of pictured Xan being a bit abrasive at times).

Sorry guys but I'm gonna have to drop out - I'm getting burnt out on Pathfinder in general these days and I've never been happy with Xan from a personality standpoint so I've lost interest with her quicker than any of my other characters.

I'm sorry to bail on you but I just can't build up any enthusiasm for this game anymore.

"So much for diplomacy," Xan muttered, having stuck near Richard and letting him do the talking until now.

With the fight underway, Xan moved to engage the same lizardfolk that Richard was hacking at.

Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

If it wasn't clear, she's attacking Green.

"The hell kind of name is that?!" Xan remarked from hiding with the others. "Could've at least translated it into draconic first. Viingyolpah. Much more impressive."

Aren't you fighting 2h Xan? If so I don't think you can use Slashing Grace?

Nope, one-handed. Aldori Defender's class features all require you to be using them one-handed.

Although the hands is the other reason I'm not taking Slashing Grace and just waiting until I can start on the Swordlord PrC - its dex-to-damage feature works regardless of how many hands you're wielding the dueling sword with.

Female Aasimar (Angel-Blooded) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 4 | AC 18 (t 13, ff 15) | F+6, R+5, W+2 | Init +3, Per +4 | HP 5/39

I was tempted to grab that for Xan, but I'll be progressing into the Aldori Swordlord PrC soon and it's 1st level benefit is Dex to Damage so it'd kind of be a wasted feat.

Female Aasimar (Angel-Blooded) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 4 | AC 18 (t 13, ff 15) | F+6, R+5, W+2 | Init +3, Per +4 | HP 5/39

As for the loot - only stuff Xan'd want would be one of the armours. Although the +2 studded armour would leave her with the same AC she has now (it's got 1 more enhancement bonus but 1 less armour bonus), so only the mithril one would be an actual upgrade for her.

Female Aasimar (Angel-Blooded) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 4 | AC 18 (t 13, ff 15) | F+6, R+5, W+2 | Init +3, Per +4 | HP 5/39

Forgot to record the full list of stuff Xan got, though most of it was just more of the same. Save for Weapon Training (Heavy Blades) and her new feat, Aldori Dueling Disciple.

HP: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

"Thanks, Zelera," Xan said as her magic went to work, feeling a little sheepish that she'd had to retreat but still feeling more well-disposed to the cleric (even if she still wasn't too sure about her patron).

"I'm not sure what use we'd have for troll meat - reminds me of that stupid story about a barbarian carrying a troll's 'member' around in a bag of holding for years."

OOC Explanation:
That's a reference to Critical Role's first campaign - at some point in the pre-stream days, while it was a Pathfinder home game at (I assume) Matt's place, they ended up getting ahold of a troll's dick and storing it in their bag of holding. Was in there for almost the entire campaign, I think.

They never went into detail on how they got hold of it in the first place, just that it involved Tiberius disguising himself as a female troll to distract a pair of male ones and that things almost went very badly for him had the rest of the team not showed up in time. Apparently the relevant amputation was performed via a well-aimed arrow from Vex.

Last Round, because I'm a slow and forgetful bastard. Also, I'll update her HP above in a sec because I forgot to remove the damage from that bite I said should've missed.

Injured, but with the way somewhat clear, Xan headed for her dropped bow and recovered it, sheathing her sword as she moved.

Move action to sheath sword and move to bow, standard to pick the bow back up.

This round
Moving back towards the group somewhat, she took a shot at the troll the others were engaging.

Composite Longbow Attack vs Green: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Just realised; I forgot to factor in the "target in melee" penalty and anything that might be coming from the terrain.

Female Aasimar (Angel-Blooded) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 4 | AC 18 (t 13, ff 15) | F+6, R+5, W+2 | Init +3, Per +4 | HP 5/39

Sorry for not posting sooner. Guess that's what I get for forgetting - Xan's now down to just 5 HP. Although that bite would've missed - her normal AC is 18 and it would've been 19 vs melee if she made a full attack that round.

Crying out as the troll tore into her, Xan realised she had to fall back.

Withdraw action, though she'll still provoke an AoO from Purple if it has a 10' reach, so hopefully this Acrobatics check to avoid it is good.

Acrobatics to avoid AoO from Purple: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

EDIT: And I'll fix up her statblock now - I think the AC she has there is from before she got her armour enchanted.

I’m not gonna be available to post much over the next couple of days. Down in Melbourne for a cousin’s wedding. Flying back Sunday afternoon but it’s into Brisbane so there’ll be another couple hours on the bus to get back home to Toowoomba.

Last round

As the trolls approached, Xan dropped her bow and readied her sword, bracing to strike once a troll got into reach.

Move action to draw sword, standard to ready an attack against the first troll to get into melee.

Readied Attack on Blue: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

This round
Holding her ground, Xan continued to strike at the one that stumbled into the traps.

Full Attack on Blue: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Defensive Parry, +1AC vs melee

Crit Confirm for last round

Ah yeah, forgot about that.

Female Aasimar (Angel-Blooded) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 4 | AC 18 (t 13, ff 15) | F+6, R+5, W+2 | Init +3, Per +4 | HP 5/39

Moving past the fallen troll (and avoiding the grease as best she could), Xan positioned herself behind the traps before firing another arrow into the fallen creature.

Not sure if there's room for her to move past the grease without stepping in it. I'd planned to start this fight already behind the traps so the grease placement's a bit of an issue.

Composite Longbow Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Female Aasimar (Angel-Blooded) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 4 | AC 18 (t 13, ff 15) | F+6, R+5, W+2 | Init +3, Per +4 | HP 5/39

Can we move through our traps safely, since we know where they were set? I was hoping to get their attention with the traps between the trolls and Xan, now I'm thinking she needs to dash through the red traps to try and lure the trolls into them.

Female Aasimar (Angel-Blooded) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 4 | AC 18 (t 13, ff 15) | F+6, R+5, W+2 | Init +3, Per +4 | HP 5/39

I can't get Xan onto the map but I'm thinking, since she knows where the traps are set, she'll move up and get their attention from just behind the red traps, maybe between them and Colwyn, somewhere where she has line-of-sight on one of the trolls but where they'd have to cross a trap to get to her.

With the plan set, Xan positioned herself behind the traps, drew her bow, and called out.

"Oi, uglies! Looking for dinner?" she called out before shooting the lead one with her bow.

Attack on Orange: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Female Aasimar (Angel-Blooded) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 4 | AC 18 (t 13, ff 15) | F+6, R+5, W+2 | Init +3, Per +4 | HP 5/39

Well Enlarge Person wouldn't work on Xan - she's not a humanoid so none of the Person spells work on her.

"I'll be the bait," Xan said, looking over the trolls, "I think I'll manage. Although aren't these things supposed to be hard to kill?"

Female Aasimar (Angel-Blooded) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 4 | AC 18 (t 13, ff 15) | F+6, R+5, W+2 | Init +3, Per +4 | HP 5/39

"Here's hoping this is just exactly what it looks like," Xan remarked, moving up alongside Colwyn for security.

As the trial concludes, Xan braces herself for delivering the sentence.

"Alright there's a few parts to this so you lot watching need to hold off your reaction until I've explained in full, don't want to have to go talking over you all.

"Firstly; you're exiled from our lands - breaking this exile will be punished by an immediate execution, this is the only trial you're getting here. Second; we will be circulating your faces, description, modus operandi and what we've determined of your capabilities to neighbouring townships and cities - their law enforcement will be watching for you which will make things pretty difficult for you in the future. Be glad I'm in a good mood for that one - I was seriously considering facial brands as well so you don't pull this s%~% on anyone else.

"Finally; the only goods you will be taking with you on your way out of our lands will be the clothes on your back and maybe enough supplies to see you to Restov. No money, no weapons or armour, nothing else. And, yes, that means no religious iconography - I know enough about divine spellcasting that you need a symbol for at least some of the spells. The guards who will escort you out of our lands will also have standing orders that even a hint of spellcasting from you - even if it is just a simple healing spell - will be treated as an attempt to break your exile and will respond... accordingly." She emphasised the final word by placing her hand on the hilt of her own sword.

"You will each have three guards escorting you and you will be treated as prisoners until you have left our lands and, as I said, will treat anything suspicious from you as attempts to escape. So to put it simply; either you wind up penniless with a chance to turn your lives around in Restov, or dead. Up to you."

She turned to Colwyn as she finished. "Anything you'd like to add or change to that, dear Baron?"

Xan was still wary of the new woman - mainly with how cagey she was seeming to be about her patron. She was no expert on the fey, but she suspected that if even half the stories had some grounding in truth, then her object of worship wasn't something as trustworthy as a more straight-forward god. She made a note to talk to Elena and see if she knew anything about him. Or Niadroub if he was familiar much with the realm of the fey. Zelera's talk of knowledge being power had Xan thinking that she wouldn't be too forthcoming on the details.

Although... she was quite the looker.

Either way, she followed the others back to the inn, wanting a drink.

The new arrival had Xan somewhat on edge, particularly after their recent scuffle.

"I thought we had guards posted outside to secure the place while we were down here?"

Kind of leaning towards Zelera; she could add an interesting dynamic to the party.

We were doing alright just half-assing it between Xan, Colwyn and Richard, though.

Stepping forward around Colwyn, Xan once more tried to bring the cultist down.

Non-lethal Attack: 1d20 + 11 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 11 - 4 = 9
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

If she's already KO'd, then she'll instead use those rolls for a lethal attack on Green, who she could've reached with a 5-foot step from her original position as well. Also, since this was a full attack, her AC vs Melee is now 19.

Female Aasimar (Angel-Blooded) Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 4 | AC 18 (t 13, ff 15) | F+6, R+5, W+2 | Init +3, Per +4 | HP 5/39

Stepping around her target, Xan continued her attack, this time trying to knock her out rather than kill her.

Running in with the Claw, Xan struck at the unblinded cultist.

Both of us have 60ft darkvision. Not the best at sneaking around, though.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

"Relax Reknar; we're not interested in this masked guy. For now." Xan called down from the window before turning back to anyone else still in the room with her.

"And it sounds like Grigori is telling the truth; he was rabble-rousing for hire. Let's fill the others in on this." Hauling their spellcasting prisoner along with her, Xan went down to meet with Reknar outside.

Xan wasn't happy about working with a vigilante and never fully dropped her sword while listening to him. That was when she heard a floorboard creek when it really shouldn't have.

Following after the Claw's dagger and Niadroub's spell, she lashed out at where she believed the invisible assailant was.

"Drop your weapon, now!" she called out, seeing the masked individual.

Xan was hoping for a quiet time at the inn to catch up with some of the other guards they'd been hiring. A hope that was dashed as the cacophony upstairs got underway.

"Crap," she muttered to herself before running upstairs to see what was going on.

Any rolls I need to make, to break down the door, hear what's going on, or is that not for another couple of rounds while Xan climbs the stairs?

I think Colwyn or Elena have the best chance of helping here. Xan isn’t very diplomatic and would probably just make things worse (especially with how I’ve been rolling in a Return of the Runelords campaign lately).

Would Xan have had time to get some silver arrows for this? I'll make the roll below assuming she couldn't, but if she had time then let me know and I'll retroactively add them to her sheet.

"Thanks for the target, Niadroub, but I think you might want to keep behind us," Xan remarked aiming her bow, "that stuff's bad enough in hair, I hate to think what it's like in fur."

Probably just looking to see if the traders in town have any other alchemical silver weapons. Or at least arrows. Not sure how effective her sword is gonna be on a werewolf but she could probably be able to tank well enough between fighting defensively, her intimidate skills, and Defensive Parry.

Catalog of Maps 0one sells

4/5

This is a catalog of "blueprints" (map collections) that 0oneGames sells. Each has a paragraph describing the blueprint, followed by some plot suggestions for adventures you could create using it.

Would have been better if they could have included clickable links in the file to take you to each blueprint on their web page. Also, I would have liked to see more of the maps in each blueprint - this catalog only shows sections of 1 or 2 maps for each, and many of the blueprints contain over a dozen maps!

Humorous and Fun

5/5

I've played this twice, and GM'd it twice, it has been a lot of fun each time. Excellent module with lots of possibilities for Role Playing and "hamming it up", plus a handful of skill-check encounters and a few combats to balance it out. Provides some nice background and insight into how Goblin societies function, while keeping things funny and lighthearted. Also, since everyone is playing with Pre-Gens, there is no fear of character death. This allows PCs to try crazy things they may not normally try.

This adventure takes place near the town of Sandpoint, so it could fit right in with Beginner Box campaigns (although you will need access to the Core Rulebook and Bestiary, or an SRD, as there are a some things in "We Be Goblins" which aren't found in the Beginner Box rules).

Also, it is Pathfinder Society compatible. There is a link to download the Chronicle Sheet and PFS rules in the product description.

Bottom line:
Highly recommended, and a true bargain at the price!

Note for GMs:
I would highly recommend bringing a swamp/marsh flip-mat or pre-drawing a map for the possible "Lots-Legs" encounter.
