Given the fact that ratfolk can be found pretty much everywhere, it makes sense that there would a lot of ratfolk living in Taldor.

My question is would playing a ratfolk be a good idea? What sort of challenges (besides pretty much a lot of humans regardless of class being unnerved by talking rat in their midst) would my character face?

I'm thinking that the Youthful Reformer campaign trait would be a good idea as my character would be sick and tired of humans treating ratfolks as barely sentient and not even counting them as citizens half the time. And maybe my character thinks that having ratfolk take part in the government and Taldan culture might improve things for everyone. Maybe ratfolk culture might even benefit Taldan culture!

I'm thinking of having him be a psychic with the warp discipline.

Since there is a a lot of trade coming into Taldor, would catfolk be appropriate as well?

What are some good options for orders for Cavaliers?

Just curious here but what's the best way to do a gnoll paladin/bloodrager of Sarenrae?

I think that two good paladin archetypes would be Holy Guide and Warrior of the Holy Light.

As for stats, I don't want to do any dump stats as I never liked the idea of dump stats.

I think the Celestial bloodline would be perfect for the bloodrager side of him.

So what do y'all suggest?

Just curious on what monstrous mounts and unique animals would be appropriate for cavaliers and roughriders and any other class that would use a mount for this campaign (besides riding dogs, wolves, and horses).

I'm a player so please be careful with spoilers.

Our previous GM had some real life issues happen to him and he was forced to depart the forums. I and my fellow players decided to wait and see if he returned.

Well it's been over a month now and we decided, after talking about it, to go ahead and continue the campaign.

We lost both our warpriest and arcanist but right now we have a good crew consisting of a kitsune samurai (me), a kitsune oracle, a human paladin, and a human investigator.

We are still in Book 1, making our way to the goblin camp. Here is the campaign.

So if any GM would like to help us out we would gladly appreciate it!

Okay, I'm thinking of running Jade Regent, but I want to try and combine these two rules together?

Any advice?

I'm curious to see if this sort of multiclass is feasible. Which one should be dipped and which one should be level up the most? And which order would be the best one to take?

And wouldn't combining the Smite Evil and Challenge abilities lead to an overpowerful character?

Trying to think if this multiclass idea would work. Both classes and archetypes would strengthen each other but at the same time, you would have to figure out which one to level in the most to get any real benefits from such a combination

Then again you could be able to get the winter witch prestige class easily by taking a level in witch and then take a few levels in sorcerer before jumping over to the prestige class right?

I'm just brainstorming here so any advice would be useful. Thank you.

Entry 1

I was unable to write an entry yesterday due to Ameiko getting injured after being ambushed by goblins armed with fireworks (the little green varmints are like cockroaches!), so I will try to recall yesterday’s events along with today’s before I set out on my adventure. I am thankful that Shalelu was able to save her and bring her back to town. Gave me quite a fright when I saw how badly wounded my childhood friend was. I’m just glad that Lady Koya wasn’t angry at me for trying to beat down her door to get to Ameiko. I was able to use what healing skills I learned from the Order of the Shield to aid Lady Koya in tending to both Ameiko and Shalelu. Both of them are better now, although Ameiko still need rest in order to fully recover, but knowing her, she will refuse to stay lying down. I am glad once again that I decided to write all my journal entries in Sylvan least someone tries to take a look at it, especially someone who my heart sings for. Although, it seems that my attempts to keep my feelings for her a secret have been for naught, as it seems apparent that I do, especially since Shalelu pointed them out along with those who will be traveling with me to the Brinestump Marsh! I do hope Ameiko doesn’t suspect anything! Shelyn and Daikitsu, help me if she does! I’m not sure I’m ready to tell her how I feel just yet! We have been friends for many years, and I don’t want to ruin that friendship by making things awkward for us both. Although I do wonder what happened to her to make her give up adventuring and what she was doing the night she was attacked by the goblins, but I respect her too much to pry into matters that I shouldn’t stick my muzzle into. I will however be there for her if she ever wishes to tell me when she decides to.

Ahem…anyhow, Sheriff Hemlock has reestablished the goblin bounty due to the attacks. The reward is quite substantial to say the least, especially if one brings back the head of the goblin chieftain, but I’m more concerned with going after these goblins that are responsible for attacking not only Ameiko and Shalelu but also several travelers, merchants, and caravans. My blood boils as my mind recalls seeing my childhood friend’s bloodstained body. The only reward I seek is to spare others the memory of this sight. I can never remove that brand in my mind’s eye. Ameiko is dear to my heart so I can only hope that I can return to her. While goblins are weak and stupidity incarnate, they are dangerous in great numbers so I must be careful. However, there are other factors to take into account upon entering the Brinestump Marsh. I hope we do not meet the Sandpoint Devil! I shudder to even think of such an encounter.

When I say ‘we’, I’m referring to those who also want to put an end to this goblin threat and who I will be traveling with. Shalelu wishes to come. She has always hated goblins, or so I’ve been told. I’ll see the truth of this very soon I’m sure. The others that are joining us are:

• Caerwyn Callandriil. He has lived in Sandpoint for a long time, and I know that he has trained with Shalelu and that he’s a member of the town militia; not sure if he still is though. He is excellent scout from what I’ve heard, so I know that his skills will prove beneficial as we track down the Licktoad goblins.

• Leokian Trasandoral. I don’t know much about him I’m afraid. The elven…I think he’s a wizard since I saw that he had a spellbook with him, but I could be wrong…seems to know Shalelu. Maybe they are kin to each other as he called her cousin. Seems to be a bit…stuck up at times. Besides that, he seems friendly enough so he can’t be all bad right?

• Rhis Alberuti. A priestess of Desna, she has lived in Sandpoint long before my foster family moved there. I’ve heard that she’s a friend of Lady Koya and was even saved by Lady Koya’s mother, Nishka! Rhis seems human, but there’s something about her that’s not human. Of course, the same is true of me, so I can’t criticize her even though she is quite blunt. Okay, she’s often blunt, but having a healer is a good thing.

• Shaeda Stormborn. The Halfling priestess of Calistria is also joining us. It seems that my belief that anyone can become a heroic adventurer has been proven true. I know that she is friends with Lady Koya and was good friends with Lady Koya’s mother before Nishka passed away. She has a good heart, even if she does worship Calistria (I’m not going to judge her, even though I tend to stay away from the Pixie's Kitten). She does sometimes forget that I’m a kitsune, but I’m not going to fault her for that.

As a member of the Order of the Shield, it’ll be my duty to protect my companions and guard them from harm. While I’ve never been far from home before, I’ve always planned on becoming an adventurer one day. I guess you could say that my father’s tales of the honorable samurai of Tian Xia and the brave knights of the Inner Sea have always caused me to feel a bit of wanderlust, to seek my destiny.

I'm not doing a dump stat, so that is out of the window.

Challenge (Ex) Once per day, a samurai can challenge a foe to combat. As a swift action, the samurai chooses one target within sight to challenge. The samurai's melee attacks deal extra damage when made against the target of his challenge. This extra damage is equal to the samurai's level. The samurai can use this ability once per day at 1st level, plus one additional time per day for every three levels beyond 1st, to a maximum of seven times per day at 19th level. Challenging a foe requires much of the samurai's concentration. The samurai takes a -2 penalty to his Armor Class, except against attacks made by the target of his challenge. The challenge remains in effect until the target is dead or unconscious, or until the combat ends. Each samurai's challenge also includes another effect, which is listed in the section describing the samurai's order.

Change Shape (Su) Kitsune can assume the appearance of a specific single human form of the same sex.

Childhood Crush (Ameiko) You've never had the guts to act on it, but for as long as you can remember, you've had a crush on Ameiko. Someday, maybe you'll be able to earn her love, but for now, you're content to spend time in her proximity, or even to do things for her that might earn you a word of thanks or a smile. Once per day, you may attempt to earn a kind word or a smile from Ameiko by making a DC 15 Charisma check. If you're successful, the elation and joy at the attention gives you a +1 trait bonus on all saving throws for the remainder of the day. If you're ever lucky enough to win Ameiko's love, this +1 trait bonus on saving throws applies at all times, as long as your relationship remains active. In addition, you gain a +1 trait bonus on all attack rolls against foes that threaten Ameiko.

Kitsune Magic (Ex) Kitsune add +1 to the DC of any enchantment spells they cast.

Low-Light Vision Kitsune can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.

Low-Light Vision (Ex) You can see x2 as far as humans in low illumination. Characters with low-light vision have eyes that are so sensitive to light that they can see twice as far as normal in dim light. Low-Light Vision is color vision. A spellcaster with low-light vision can read a scroll as long as even the tiniest candle flame is next to her as a source of light. Characters with low-light vision can see outdoors on a moonlit night as well as they can during the day.

Mount (Ex) A samurai gains the service of a loyal and trusty steed to carry him into battle. This mount functions as a druid's animal companion, using the samurai's level as his effective druid level. The creature must be one that he is capable of riding and that is suitable as a mount. A Medium samurai can select a camel or a horse. A Small samurai can select a pony or a wolf, but can also select a boar or a dog if he is at least 4th level. The GM may approve other animals as suitable mounts. A samurai does not take an armor check penalty on Ride checks while riding his mount. The mount is always considered combat trained and begins play with Light Armor Proficiency as a bonus feat. A samurai's mount does not gain the share spells special ability. A samurai's bond with his mount is strong, with the pair learning to anticipate each other's moods and moves. Should a samurai's mount die, the samurai may find another mount to serve him after 1 week of mourning. The new mount does not gain the link, evasion, devotion, or improved evasion special abilities until the next time the samurai gains a level.

Natural Weapon (Ex) A kitsune has a bite attack in its natural form. This bite does a base of 1d4 points of damage on a hit. This is a primary attack, or a secondary attack if the kitsune wields a manufactured weapon.

Order (Ex) At 1st level, a samurai must pledge himself to a specific order, typically the order of the warrior. The order grants the samurai a number of bonuses, class skills, and special abilities. In addition, each order includes a number of edicts the samurai must follow. If he violates these edicts, he loses the benefits of his order's challenge ability for 24 hours. The violation of an edict is subject to GM interpretation. Most samurai belong to the order of the warrior and are dedicated to their lord. Those without a lord, or who chose to abandon their lord, are ronin. A samurai may instead elect to dedicate himself to one of the orders listed under the cavalier description (see pages 34-37 of the Advanced Player's Guide), but such samurai are rare. A samurai who wishes to change his order must undertake a lengthy process to dedicate himself to a new cause. When this choice is made, he immediately loses all of the benefits from his old order. He must then follow the edicts of his new order for one entire level without gaining any benefits from that order. Once he has accomplished this, he gains all the bonuses from his new order. The only exception to this is when a samurai decides to become a ronin. A samurai can elect to become a ronin immediately, losing all the benefits from his old order and replacing them with the new benefits from the ronin order. Once a ronin, however, the only way for the samurai to change to another order is through the method described above. Note that the names of these orders might vary depending upon the campaign setting or GM's preference.

Order of the Shield Whenever an order of the shield cavalier uses the Heal skill on a creature other than himself, he receives a bonus on the check equal to 1/2 his cavalier level (minimum +1).

Reactionary You were bullied often as a child, but never quite developed an offensive response. Instead, you became adept at anticipating sudden attacks and reacting to danger quickly. You gain a +2 trait bonus on Initiative checks.

Determined As a standard action, the samurai can spend one use of his resolve to remove the fatigued, shaken, or sickened condition. If the samurai is at least 8th level, he can alternatively remove the exhausted, frightened, nauseated, or staggered condition. If the condition has a duration longer than 1 hour or is permanent, this ability removes the condition for 1 hour, at which time the condition returns.

Resolute Whenever the samurai is required to make a Fortitude or Will save, he can spend one use of his resolve as an immediate action to roll twice and take the better result. He must decide to use this ability before he rolls the saving throw.

Resolve (Ex) Starting at 1st level, the samurai gains resolve that he can call upon to endure even the most devastating wounds and afflictions. He can use this ability once per day at 1st level, plus one additional time per day for every two samurai levels beyond 1st. Whenever the samurai defeats the target of his challenge, he regains one daily use of his resolve, up to his maximum number of uses per day. Defeating the target of his challenge usually involves reducing the target to 0 hit points or fewer, but the GM might rule that an enemy who surrenders or flees the battle is also defeated. He can use this resolve in a number of ways.

Unstoppable When the samurai is reduced to fewer than 0 hit points but not slain, he can spend one use of his resolve as an immediate action to instantly stabilize and remain conscious. He is staggered, but he does not fall unconscious and begin dying if he takes a standard action. He does fall unconscious if he takes additional damage from any source.

Samurai Proficiencies

Now, here's the thing: my group has voted me as the face of the group and I'm also one of the party's frontliners, so I'm going to be the tank of the group. We've already started, so I doubt that I can just change anything and I don't plan on retraining.

I'm looking for ideas and suggestions for feats later on.

I thought about picking up levels in the armor master fighter archetype to help me out, but I'm open to hearing other's suggestions and thoughts.

Playing a half-elf bard of Shelyn in a Hell's Rebels game and thinking of picking up a few levels in fighter with the polearm master archetype. But now I'm not sure. This is my character right here: Kethaera. I've also thought about picking martial weapon proficiency and pick glaive. I know that I would take spell song feat as well as persuasive feat too. But can anyone give me advice on what to do and what sort of build I should do?

I would appreciate any help you can give. Thank you.

Thought I might post a thread where we could all share ideas for additional monsters to the AP. So post away and don't worry no monster idea is outrageous (besides if that weren't we wouldn't use them right?).

Half fiend elf banshee (probably a former elven cultist who was killed by crusaders and came back as one of the undead)

Half fiend unicorn (represents what the evil that the demons have committed against nature; if you really want to be evil make it a half fiend unicorn vampire!)

Graveknight army (for the sword of valor when you're marching your army)

Half black dragon centaurs

Half red dragon trolls (this adds a lot of problems for he PCs!!!!)

I'm just curious if this archetype works well in the Wrath of the Righteous. And I'm also curious about what people who have played this archetype have to say about it.

I'm trying to figure out her background and bio. She's pretty much a beastbrood (rakshasa spawn) which would mean she's most likely from Jalmeray. Of course considering who her mother is she would have the best features of both a Taldan and a Vudrani. However, since her mother is a divine being (read celestial) and she's a tiefling (read fiend) I guess the two energies would try to cancel out each other which might result in the tiefling being a hermophadite (she's meant to be btw). Of course, my problem is wouldn't Shelyn's divineness cancel out any infernal bloodline in the child's body? She is a goddess.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We play Magic: The Gathering, Pathfinder, Mutants & Masterminds, Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40k, and Lord of the Rings.

I have to be GM for a group this Friday, and I'm using the D&D gods (Pelor, St. Cuthbert, Ehlonna, Kord, etc.), but I want to use the Pathfinder domains. However, I'm having a heck of a time converting them!

PLEASE HELP ME OUT HERE! I really need help.

I'm planning on writing a story based on the Jade Regent Adventure Path.

I'll share it with the rest of you, so you can enjoy it. Please note: THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!

Starting to work on the characters:

Kyrsaku McClain: NG Kitsune Fighter: adopted by a Taldan Knight and his family after being rescued from an oni who kidnapped him and teleported to Taldor. Worships the White Fox (doesn't realize that his parents were devoted followers of Daikitsu, and he doesn't know the name of his patron deity because he knows nothing of Xian Ti's culture). Was born in Minkai.

Kyrsaku was born in a small kitsune village in Minkai months before the Jade Regent came to power. While still a babe in his mother's arms, an oni, allied with the Five Storms, attacked his village, hoping to steal many of the children to be corrupted and transformed into nogitsune. However, the villagers fought back, as the oni had not realized that there were several toshigamis and kodamas kami, as well as a zuishin kami protecting a temple of Daikitsu, living in the village as well. The villagers and their kami allies drove the oni back, but the oni was successful in kidnapping one little kitsune kit: Kyrsaku. Kyrsaku's parents were the leaders of the village, with Kyrsaku's father being a samuari of the blue rose and his mother being both a monk/druid/cleric of Daikitsu, and they wanted their son back. The oni attempted to teleport away, but the attacking villagers and kami caused him to fumble the spell transporting him and the baby kitsune countless miles away to another land: Taldor. The oni teleported right in the midst of a group of Taldan Horse and Phalanx companies, patrolling for bandits. Surprised and baffled by the sudden appearance of the demon, the Taldans attacked. A Taldan knight named Baron Marcian McClain led the charge, aided by his brother, Lord Galadon McClain. The McClains and their soldiers fought long and hard, but eventually, succeeding in felling the oni. Marcian soon heard cries as if from a baby, and began to search for the source. To his surprise and amazement, he found Kyrsaku, crying. The other Taldans were shocked by child, believing it to be a gnoll baby and wanted to kill it, but Marcian would not let any to lay a finger on the child. He did not believe the child was evil, but he too was baffled by the child, who looked like a foxlike baby boy. Marcian, his armor covered in blood, took Kyrsaku home to be raised as his own son, as Marcian had lost two sons already to Qadari skirmishers. He found a silver holy symbol of a nine-tailed white fox with the name Kyrsaku written in Sylvan on the back. Marcian's friends believed that Kyrsaku was a gnoll child who was born being attractive and not ugly like other gnolls and that Lamashtu had sent the demon to bring the unlucky gnoll pup to her or one of her priests to kill. Marcian and his wife, a Senator named Viviana, raised and loved him as if he was their own blood son. While growing up, Kyrsaku was trained in the ways of the Taldan Knights, while learning of Taldor's customs and ways. However, he began to have dreams of a faraway land where he saw others that looked like him. He also saw a white nine-tailed fox telling him, "They are looking for you...Your destiny lies north...Have you forgotten our ways?". Kyrsaku then left to visit an old family friend in Sandpoint, Varisia. Joining him was his adopted cousin, Theodric. Kyrsaku felt drawn to Sandpoint, almost as if he was destined for something great...

Theodric McClain: LG Human Cavalier of the Shield: Theodric is the son of a Taldan Cavalier of the Dragon and an Andoran Eagle Knight. He is also Kyrsaku's adopted cousin, although the cavalier treats the kitsune like a younger brother. Later, he will multiclass with a Cleric class, worshipping Abador.

Drogheda: CG Half-orc green draconic sorceress: A Varisian half-orc, she has lived in Sandpoint for awhile now. She has a crush on Shalelu.

Skender: NG Human Rogue: Skender is the fourth son of a family of Pathfinders. He used to live in Taldor, but his family left to travel to Sandpoint. He is great friends with Ameiko, Kyrsaku, and Theodric. Doesn't get along with either Drogheda or Shalelu.

Well, I created a kitsune fighter who was raised by Taldans, and well, we all know what Taldan culture is like (pretty much the complete opposite of what Kitsunes value and believe in). I didn't know where to post this, but since my kitsune fighter starts to fall for Miyaro (a character in Jade Regent), I thought this would be the best place to put this thread.

Anyhow, my kitsune, named Kyrsaku, was stolen from his parents as a young babe by an oni (allied with the Five Storms) who had hoped to steal kitsune children and corrupt them. However, the kitsune villagers fought back, and the oni was only able to kidnap Kyrsaku, and attempted to teleport away, but screwed up the spell which sent him to Taldor instead. There, he landed dab smacked in the middle of a Taldan Horse company. The Taldans believed the oni was an evil demon and attacked. A brave knight and his brother, a cavalier of the dragon, slew the oni. The knight heard the cries of Kyrsaku and took pity on him. Although, the Taldan knight believed Kyrsaku was a gnoll child who was born being attractive and not ugly like other gnolls and that Lamashtu had sent the demon to bring the unlucky gnoll pup to her to kill. The Taldan Knight, named Sir Marcian McClain, took Kyrsaku in as his own son. Kyrsaku was trained in the ways of the Taldan Knights. He then traveled to Sandpoint to meet an old friend from his youth and that's how his adventure to the land of his birth began.
