Grand Lodge

Asking this for a friend.

How would you prepare a game and encounters for a party of 20th Level Bollywood Monk/Bards?

Grand Lodge 3/5

This was something I was interested in, mainly if other players (like myself) play a character to retirement and then create a new character related in one way or another to the character they just retired.

For instance.

Venture Captain Zeldana Asta (Level 13)
Human Female

4th Level Bard
1st Level Fighter
8th Level Pathfinder Chronicler

Zeldana Asta is a famed member of the Grand Lodge, having experienced much during her tenure with the Pathfinder organization. Late in her career, she visited the island of Averaka in the Linnorm Kingdoms and aided the Half-Orc society on the island. It was the resulting loyalty of Zeldana to the Grand Lodge faction, the Pathfinder Society and her overall Presitge and Fame that saw her granted the privilege of heading a Society Lodge before she ever became a Venture Captain (I spent the 50pp on the Lodge Vanity).

Years after she would embark on a grand journey and mission, leading into the very heart of the Pathfinder Society and from these trials emerge as a Venture Captain. She would go into semi-retirement, returning to the Autumnwatch Lodge in Averaka to watch over the lodge. She would also go on to mother children who would grow up in the Lodge and be trained to follow in their mother's footsteps and join the Society just as she had.

Those children are...

Thais Asta (Level 2)
Human Female

1st Level Bard
1st Level Investigator

Valon Asta (Level 1)
Half-Orc Male

1st Level Avaraka Arbiter

Calistril Asta (Level 1)
Half-Orc Female

1st Level ????

Story says that Zeldana claimed her children's father by knocking out a full blooded Orc in one punch during a drunken brawl. Though it's more likely that she bed one of the Half-Orcs of Averaka; which resulted in the twins Valon and Calistril.

Her eldest daughter, Thais, loves her siblings even as others view them as a perversion. She has decided to follow in her mother's footsteps and plans on becoming a Pathfinder Chronicler just as Zeldana had. All of her children seek to become worthy of the Pathfinder Chronicles in their own way just as their mother has.

I also plan on furthering the Asta name with additional characters as time goes on.

I even have Velarrior Ileor-Blakros (I completed the scenario that lets you marry into the Blakros family). I have his Half-Elf, Half-Sister Izora Ileor.

I also have plans for (3x) 'Ibis' Tengus, the Thothmoses lineage which will cover Thothmoses I, Thothmoses II, and Thothmoses III

Grand Lodge

I had been looking for a confirmation, though I do not feel as through it was answered in the thread that I was able to locate that was posted back in 2013.

To set the scene.

Our group is in a homebrew game that is based off a book series that our GM has read; with our characters based around Superheroes and Supervillains.

We are currently helping a Kingdom of Elves to clear out these holy sites. While clearing out this Mountain, we came across and managed to avoid (3x) Wraiths (at least that's all we saw, though there might be more).

My Archer (based off a combination of Nyssa Al-Ghul and the Huntress); is currently wielding a +1 Holy Evil Outsider Bane Longbow (The joke being that the average DMG is 88; and each hit is sending the defeated foe into the future).

Jokes and pop culture nods aside, I understand that a magic weapon does half damage to an incorporeal creature. The question though is, would the Holy affect do the full 2D6 of damage or would it also be halved?

The Exchange 3/5

I am unsure if this is the proper place for this question.

I have 1 GM Star and if my counting is correct, I am about 10-12 games away from my second GM Star.

I know that you can use them to replay a scenario so you can get full credit, though I was wondering when / if they recharge?

I just finished a game tonight before the big Gateway Con happening tomorrow in La.

With tonight's game reported I now have...

My first ever GM Star ^(^_^)^ YAY!!!!

I'm so happy.

The Exchange

Last night I just got the 1xp I needed to level up my Pathfinder Chronicler from 8th to 9th. This means that I'll be able to take another feat and I came across the Boon Companion.

Prerequisites: Animal companion or familiar class feature.

Benefit: The abilities of your animal companion or familiar are calculated as though your class were 4 levels higher, to a maximum effective druid level equal to your character level. If you have more than one animal companion or familiar, choose one to receive this benefit. If you lose or dismiss an animal companion or familiar that has received this benefit, you may apply this feat to the replacement creature.

Special: You may select this feat more than once. The effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a different animal companion or familiar.

I have seen multiple threads talking about it, however I've not seen an exact clarification on if it helps or not in terms of the companion.

The current rough draft plan for my 9th level advancement would cause the character to have the following classes.

4 Levels of Archaeologist (Bard Archetype)
1 Level of Fighter
3 Levels of Pathfinder Chronicler
1 (Planned) Level of Hunter

With the level of hunter I would gain access to an Animal Companion. Boon Companion would allow me to have an Animal Companion calculated as 4 levels higher than it is. Thus I see that I would be a 9th Level Character with a 5th Level Animal Companion.

Is this correct? Or would I be better off without taking the level in Hunter / is it a waste to take the level in hunter and the boon companion feat?

I know this may seem like a foolish thing for someone whose been around almost a year now to ask. Though I've seen it pop up from time to time.

I was wondering what my Paizo.com Email Address was.

Is it the email I signed up with? Or is it something entirely else that I would need to make one for?

The Exchange

I made a Viking character, Ulfen race and took the Heart of the Sea racial trait. This trait states.

Humans born near the sea are always drawn to it. They gain a +2 racial bonus on Profession (sailor) and Swim checks, and these are always class skills for them. They can hold their breath twice as long as normal, and spellcasters gain a +4 racial bonus on concentration checks when attempting to cast spells underwater. This racial trait replaces skilled.

In terms of leveling up, I was looking at possibly taking the Sea Reaver archetype at 3rd level. They have the Marine Terror ability which provides them with the following.

A sea reaver can hold her breath for a number of rounds equal to four times her Constitution score. In addition, a sea reaver can move normally though squares of standing water or bog that is 1 foot deep. It does not cost her extra movement to traverse these terrains. Lastly, a sea reaver ignores the normal cover bonus to AC when attacking creatures that are partially immersed in water. This ability replaces fast movement.

My question is, do they stack. There was one instance I could find that asked this, though they used an example for their con.

Right now my character's Con is 14, giving him a +2 Modifier.

How many rounds could my character potentially hold their breath?

The Exchange

I have been thinking of making a Cavalier, and the Beast Rider Archetype caught my eye. I have become a bit confused with the wording and even frustrated as I've been unable to locate a straight forward answer that has not been reposts of the question or turning it into a circle.

At fourth level it states that a medium sized beast rider can choose a mammoth (mastodon) as a mount. The 7th level states you can choose a large or huge sized animal provided that it was available as medium size at 7th level.

The stat block on animal companions had the mastodon/elephant as a medium creature at the start (which makes no sense as this means in Pathfinder a horse is somehow larger than a mammoth) which isn't large size until 7th level.

My questions are.

At 4th level, with the cavalier being able to choose a mastodon as a mount, would it be size large or size medium?

If it is size medium, would the beast rider be able to get it at 7th level or does the convoluted wording prevent the medium sized beast rider from having a mastodon until prestiging into the Mammoth Rider class at 10th level and only being able to use that mount for 2 levels?

The Exchange 3/5

Currently I have two 1st level characters. One of which has a 7 in strength, so I've purchased a mule, pack saddle and saddle bags to carry any of her extra equipment.

I also have a 1st level Lion Shaman and I purchased a Camel and Light Wagon for her (mainly for rp purposes).

My question was about the camel. I saw somewhere that mules and ponys were listed as Medium sized and counted as mundane so they were available anywhere.

The camel is a size large animal. Does it still count as mundane (and as a side note, does the light wagon count as mundane?). I plan on using both character's this Saturday and wanted to make sure that my equipment is correct.

Is it just myself, or does anyone else suffer on a regular basis from CHCSS?

I know that there are many people whom likely copy print or just type out a page of their feats and special abilities or otherwise needed information. Yet for me, I feel like I connect with my character on a deeper level when I put the time in to grab a pen and some paper and write out the Feats, Special Abilities, etc etc.

Are there others out there like myself? CHCSS suffers unite! (and find some ibuprofen.)

The Exchange 3/5

I just went through the first module of Emerald Spire, which gives you the Land Rush Boon, allowing you to purchase a hex of land. I have two questions (and after looking through the search, I didn't find an exact answer).

1. What is the Land Rush Chronicle Sheet and how do you get one?

2. The Boon itself mentions that it lets you buy a new hex of land, as long as you already have the starting Hex A. Can the boon itself be used to purchase Hex A or is there another module that I need to finish in order to purchase Hex A?

The Exchange 3/5

While I've only been a Pathfinder Society member since June, my main character Velarrio, has since that time remained at the age of 21 years.

In my mind, I see many of the adventures he's been on taking place over the course of many months or even years, with small lulls between them (which he has his caravan and now a house in the Ivy District to tide him over).

I was wondering how one would age a character. Would I just tack on a few years to make him older? Or is there some sort of ruling or precedent already in place for those players that want to add some roleplaying to their character by aging them?

The Exchange 3/5

I started playing PFS Organized Play back in June or July of this year. Already my primary character, Trade Prince Velarrio Ileor-Blakros the Faceless is 1xp away from 8th level and a total of 4 levels away from his retirement.

I've heard of people talking about the slow progression and was wondering just how does it work? When many of the sheets I've seen are usually 1xp gain, how do you get half xp? I've had a GM tell me that there are no things like half xp (as I had another GM I game with regularly give me a 1.5xp on an Emerald Spire level because I missed half of the level).

I would like to play Velarrio a bit longer, and if it means that I could potentially play other characters I enjoy just as long, I would like to learn more about it.

The Exchange 3/5

For those that have yet to play #5-99 Paths We Choose and would like to not know about the Boons, this is your spoiler as I am asking about one such boon.

New Recruits Boon Question:

New Recruits: Your faction's success enables it to recruit and train new members. You may designate one newly created PC under your Pathfinder Society number who shares your faction as a new recruit. This additional training grants that PC one of the faction's traits as a bonus trait, though the PC cannot have more than one faction trait. You must include a copy of this Chronicle sheet with the new PC's records, though that PC gains no additional boons, equipment or wealth from this Chronicle Sheet.

My question is about the wording, specifically

"This additional training grants that PC one of the faction's traits as a bonus trait, though the PC cannot have more than one faction trait."

At character creation, the character (from my understanding) gets 2 traits and one faction trait. The wording from the Boon however, to me, makes it sound redundant.

My questions are, what does it mean by saying that your PC is granted one of the faction's traits?

Why would it matter when at the creation of the character at 1st level and joining a faction would the Boon be needed when its wording sounds as though it is just replacing the faction trait that you've already picked at creation?

The character I have #5-99 completed on is Velarrio Ileor and I was beginning to take notes for a new Qadira/Exchange character once Velarrio here hits 12th Level.

The Exchange 3/5

Recently I got my hands on PDFs for the following.

Pathfinder Player Companion: Pirates of the Inner Sea

Pathfinder Player Companion: People of the North

I have so many choices for characters now that I don't know what to do xD

Do I make a Pirate? Do I make a marauding Viking or Skald!?!

I love this game :3

The Exchange 3/5

Before I left for Vegas on a trip, my group and I played through Merchant's Wake #5-21. However, one member in the group didn't play because he wouldn't receive credit for playing.

My question is this. As I've already played and received credit on #5-21 with my 4th Level Rakish Rogue Velarrio, would I be able to receive credit for it if I played again and used a new 1st Level Character?

If not, then what is the point of making additional characters if eventually you run through everything and the rest of your characters become stagnant because they can no longer receive credit for anything played.

The Exchange 3/5

I am currently in the North Las Vegas area and will be in the area for the next week to two weeks. In that time I was hoping to find and play in a couple of Pathfinder Society games.

If there are any Pathfinder Society groups in the Las Vegas, North Las Vegas area that are looking for new members to join, I would be very much appreciative if you were to contact me. I had previously sent an email to the Venture-Lieutenant of the area, however I have yet to receive a reply to the email that was sent.

As I've said, I will be in the area for the next week to two weeks before I return to California and rejoin my group there. However, until I find a stable job, I will be moving between California and Nevada and was hoping that I would be able to find a Pathfinder Society group in the Las Vegas area so I wouldn't be spending two weeks of downtime from Pathfinder Society.

Please contact me at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

The Exchange 3/5

Tonight I finished the Pathfinder Society Scenario #5-21: Merchant's Wake.

In it, if a person was with the Qadira Faction (which I was before it shifted to Exchange) it gives them the Kelishite Patron boon, which allows for the purchase of the Trade Prince or Trade Princess title boon for only the Prestige Point cost as it waves the Fame requirement.

Likewise, there is a vanity that you can purchase which is titled Noble Title and costs 20 Fame and 1 Prestige Point.

Noble Title (20 Fame, 1 PP) You gain one of the following noble titles: baron, baroness, dame, earl, lord, marquis, marquise, visbaronet, visbaronetess, viscount, and viscountess. You become specialized in Knowledge (nobility).

My question here is can they stack?

For instance could my character become known as Trade Prince Lord Velarrio Ileor the Faceless?

Or would I be forced to choose between either the Trade Prince title or the Noble Title?

The Exchange

At this moment I am running a 1st level Druid with the Wolf Shaman Archetype. I had the idea to multi-class it into the Viking Fighter Archetype once it's time to make the 3rd level to 4th level jump. While researching how to do this properly, I've come across conflicting accounts.

One says that I have to take level adjustment hits and penalties, while another says that I just add (things like BAB, Fort, Will and Reflex saves) together.

With these conflicting positions that I've found, I am looking for a definitive answer on how I would multi-class that is also PFS legal.

The Exchange 3/5

I'm thinking of making a druid or even multiclassing a Druid / Fighter together for flavor. The problem I'm having is with the Druid Archetypes. I haven't been able to find a list that wasn't vague or the search turning out a link that had nothing to do with the question I asked.

At this moment as of 9/6/2014. What are the Legal Druid Archetypes? I've been searching and I haven't been able to find out if the Bear Shaman (or any of the animal shamans for that matter) are PFS Legal or not to play. (Just as I haven't been able to find out if the Bear is a PFS legal animal companion.)
