Just to let you know they are working on an accessibility version of the pdf. I think Vic said it should be up in a couple days and I saw that post yesterday. So I would say by Monday or Tuesday they should have one out that hopefully works better for you.
I have a hard time feeling bad for some of the complaints about the new eidolons mostly because the specifics are what people are complaining about. "I can't do this the exact same way/the way I want to anymore so it's bad." Pathfinder/Dnd has never been a game where you could make everything, some concepts just don't work with the base rules, it happens. Re flavoring Fluff can help. I like the changes I actually might build a summoner now, I can actually look at these and go hey now I get a pet and the ability to make it better as I level instead of getting this shapeless blob and trying to come up with something that isn't the same pounce machine as every other eidolon you hear about.

Not to mention how long it can take to get to some of those feats. If you're not going to be able to realistically complete the chain by twelfth level it's to long.

As much as I love R.A Salvator, I really wonder if he should be blamed for drow being the race of special snowflakes or if it was just a natural part of the race and the settings.

Ahh yes the monthly or weekly rehash of the same topics over and over. We all know everyone's thoughts on the subject they can be left alone unless something changes.

Special Snowflake existed before these boards and will exist after them. It is generally used to refer to someone who has to try and invent a reason that their special so that they can be special. Now I will say that it is used incorrectly rather often, but there is a reason it exist within the rpg messageboard lexicon. We have all run into that player who wants to build a half drow half dragon with a mangled back story just so they can be different. Now while there is nothing wrong with that combination doing it just to be different really isn't going to be seen as a valid reason for doing so. They are trying to build a character that stands out from the rest so that they can feel special in a game where we are all trying to succeed together. You'll also see it come up when someone asks about playing some weird class or race, and how to convince their gm to let them, or is it a valid choice. People will give them another more basic option that with a little re-flavoring would work. They get told that the person doesn't want to do it, and that's when the special snowflake posts will start.
1. Get a copy of his sheet and print it out. If he forgets to use it it's his own problem. Write down the attacks with the modifiers from the feats, already added in as separate attacks to help him out, and then ban the use of tablets by players at the table. 2. Just make it a simple rule that if you are going to use something from the prd to print it out, whether you type all your prd stuff up on one new page or print the specific prd page out that way it is on hand and easily referenced. |
