Usually it takes a lot less time, even when Player/GM core released. I thought that maybe that's because of Sandpoint HC, but posts above indicate that people have no problems with HC outside of missing PDFs.

I'm not sure if they still do, but the used to randomize their packing list so the same people didn't get stuff first every time due to sorting. We may have just has back luck in that randomization, there shipping window goes all the way to friday.

Have their been any customer service reps regularly posting in forums and on product pages other than Aaron?

Honestly I'm more than a little concerned that if aaron left, there simply isn;t anyone minding the forums at all.

Got it, thanks for checking on this, Usually just tweeking to elite monster stats has done the trick before for my 6 player groups, but post Remaster, I have to tweek more at times and though in an extra extra monster for it to balance like it was before.

But maybe I'm just an outlier here if no one else has experienced this yet while using the remastered and the newer classes in their groups for AP's.

And Thanks Davelozzi for that blurb, I missed that!!

Tom

I typically run a 5-6 player group, and i've found that at least with the APs post GM guide and monster creation rules (EC and forward) that for 6 people i always have to either add more scrubs or tweak up some numbers if I want players to feel really challenged. Pre and post remaster this hasn't really changed any.

of course my recent experience may not be reflective, because i'm running Blood Lords with almost all undead PCs, and despite being the from Geb in Geb undead campaign, it is very very much written with the assumption the PCs are alive. The number of encounters i have to scrap and replace or skip because they are made up entirely of creatures that ONLY do negative (void) damage is a bit redic.

I also don't have it in my downloads. It's not unreasonable that that might take a back seat to getting the remaster ready. Or maybe that adventures are done fully in the remaster format/ruleset and they want to wait til after the books are out to drop it? i dunno, just speculating.

Which is it, Tondro?!

I think the answer is both. The first is what she _says_ to the PCs. The second is how she feels internally. She knows the PCs are dangerous, and she's rightfully frightened of them, but she also doesn't want to PCs to now that.

Price of paper and printing is going up, not enough people are purchasing pawnsets.

Yea that seems to be the case, after having gone back and read the thread. It's a shame, pawn availability is something that sold me other products, and I guess being someone who has bought a pawn set for every AP and book available makes me a pretty serious outlier.

I also totally understand the business decision to delay announcing the cancelation of the line until the likely front end sales of the last few APS were already done. Had I known at the time there wouldn't be pawns, I know I personally would have cancelled my AP subscription ahead of Strength of Thousands. Having a pawn set available made those products "I'll get this and maybe sell some players on running it" instead of "i'll buy these hard copy or PDF individually when and if I have players that really want to play it." It's hard not to feel tricked at having bought those products on the expectation, and having that rug pulled after the fact.

I'm sorry if i sound harsh compared to where the thread is. I'm still processing this news that has been hashed in this thread for a month, but it's a painful change to how I run my bi weekly pathfinder game that i'm still grappling with.

I recognize i'm a while late to the party, i just stumbled on this blog when i went looking for pawn sets for an upcoming campaign.

I'm not sure where else to say how extremely disappointed I am that paizo is discontinuing their Pawns line. These products are one of the primary tools that make running pathfinder 2e as a gm easier. The companion pawn set is one of the key aspects for me for running a Paizo adventure path, having pawns of unique creatures and villains found in the AP. Without the pawns the pair with bestiary, i'm honestly not sure buying the bestiary is worth the investment, without a pawn available i'm very unlikely to include monsters from a new bestiary in anything to plan myself.

Is there any more information on what is driving this decision? Are there any plans to adjust AP PDFs or sell art assets in a format conducive to printing my own pawns?

The deafening silence from Paizo seems pretty telling to me. I've tweeted the company, Erik Mona and Jason Bulmahn (Jeff Alvarez is not on Twitter) seeking clarification. I'll give them until tomorrow to offer some explanation and if it's not forthcoming I'll be cancelling.

And incidentally, this is not a decision I make lightly. I have been a subscriber since Dungeon and Dragon days but I will not support them any longer unless they can offer some sort of plausible explanation for both what has happened in the CS Team and the accusations made in the Price thread.

I hate to say this, but even if Jessica made up 100% of her allegations and there was definite proof of it, you still wouldn't be seeing an individual response from Jason or Erik. This sort of thing is much too sticky to not go through PR and probably an attorney.

I may be incorrect, it's true, but to my eyes you set an impossible ultimatum.

Maybe, maybe not. But given this is now 24 hours plus old and there isn't even a bland "nothing to see here" denial on this site is pretty telling to me. If everything is false then I'd expect a quick denial. Delay suggests, as you say, lawyers getting involved and some sort of PR response being crafted. That leads me to believe that not everything is 100% untrue.

Oh I'm sure that not everything is 100% untrue. But how much actually is true, particularly among the more egregious or nasty bits, is not a dialog Paizo will want to have started. Even if they're virtually entirely innocent, it's just the start of a mess and spirals everything way wilder.

But I mean, given your personal feelings here, would a bland corporate dismissal satisfy you?

The gencon keynote will be something to keep on eye on tomorrow.

A lot going through my head right now but I'll try to be coherent.

I'm not here involved in the forums and discussions just because of the systems. Finding the Paizo forums led me to becoming genuinely happy for the first time in my life, I had found purpose, I had found friends, I had found family, all of it interwoven together.

I have my subscriptions as a way to support the people who I look up to and admire, the editors, the artists, the freelancers, and what they do. If I just wanted the rules I wouldn't have to pay anything, I could just use Archives of Nethys and you wouldn't see a cent from me.

I have my subscriptions to support the people making the books and to voice "Hey, we need more of this!" (I am terribly lacking in writing reviews though, and that needs to be alleviated), similar to being a patron on Patreon. The people actually pushing for awesome things, for good things, to make theirs and other's dreams come true, I wish to support. The writings espouse inclusiveness and joy and fantasy and supporting that I am more than glad to do. More inclusiveness please, it's not a quota, keep going.

You take that away however, you take them away however, and there's no reason for me to continue supporting this company with my wallet, or for me to be here.

Agree completely. The inclusiveness in the writing and the quality of the material is what keeps me coming to paizo for my ttrpg gaming. I'm very pleased with the direction things have seemed to go with pf2e and the reform of mwangi in the setting and the lost omens book there in particular. The company moving in that direction is a good thing and the reason I support their products. I'm very disturbed by what I've read this morning and will be watching closely to see if I need to change that.

Perquisite and prerequisite are sometimes confused.
Perquisite usually means ‘an extra allowance or privilege’: he had all the perquisites of a movie star, including a stand-in.
Prerequisite means ‘something required as a condition’: passing the examination was one of the prerequisites for a teaching position.

Maybe it's my own personal retcon, but i read it in the other direction: Initiates are working to attain the Perquisite, at which point they are no longer probationary members of the school but have earned the rights and privileges of full Magaambya students. That's the point at which they get their mask that declarers to the whole world they are Magaambya Magi.

Another delay for the first part of fists of the ruby phoenix? oh come on!

I'm sorry but i'm really upset about this by now. I know that Paizo has its reason for when they ship what. But delay upon delay for a finished product (the pdf) just to keep brick&mortar stores happy is for a customer who buys directly from you a bad experience.

And for me who is a first time subscriber, who hoped to get the pdf version early (as i heared those who sub get them on occasion a few days earlier) it's disappointing as it not only affects me, but my whole playgroup who were so fired up to start with it.

vent over

I really hope Paizo learns from this and plans a contingency for their customers if something like this happens again in the future

It sucks I know, but Paizo's relationship w B&M stores around the world is way more important to their continued solvency as a company. They could backstab their loyal shop owners and we would get our PDFs now... and that would be great, but I also want paizo to continue to make great content for my games another few decades at least, so I'm happy to trade a little disappointment now for more content later.

They are also being WAY more transparent about this than any other gaming company I can think of. Could you imagine Games Workshop telling you your products were late because they were stuck in customs and which particular products from the partial lists were going to show up when?

Well i put in the work for my group so i figured i would share it. I took the images and rotated them and cleaned uo the overlaping borders a bit. These would have been really nice to have been included in the interactive maps PDF or something since they are clearly intended to be individual handouts but the cover format doesn't really make them suitable for printing that way

I simply don't like that some subscribers have the pdf, and others do not. The physical book being late is fine with me - they are mostly shelf decoration to me - the content is what I purchased, and that I'd expect to be fulfilled when the order enters my cart - not at some arbitrary date when the order ships.

It would certainly be upsetting if come the 30th, any non-subscriber can go onto the site, purchase the pdf, and have it immediately - while subscribers have to wait until their particular order ships.

It's certainly a distinct possibility at this point, and it's not one I'm pleased with. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like Paizo is in a position to change it. I'd love to demand that they roster on a bajillion more pick-packers at their warehouse, but that's just not realistic.
You misunderstand. I don't care when my book ships. What I don't like is that for some reason the pdf access is tied to the shipping progress. They don't need more warehouse workers to fix that problem.

I think it's less that the PDF is reliant on the shipping, but more that giving you the product you bought doesn't happen until you've actually bought it by giving them money, which happens when the sub ships.

Yea getting the PDF early is a good thing that might happen because of the way the PDF credits when you charge your account and ship. It's certainly not something anyone is entitled to or something they advertise w the subscript.

Now if it comes to street date and my stuff hasn't shipped and i'm getting penalized for supporting paizo directly instead of my local brick and morter.. that's when i get upset.

So here’s something interesting that I ran into during book 1 (but am posting it in this thread because it’s more readily explored in this book): in Lovecraft’s The Music of Erich Zann, the titular character is described as playing a viol (and Paizo likewise used this terminology to describe both Zann’s instrument and the random one that was in Briarstone Asylum). However, the viol of potent summoning and Erich Zann’s art both depict a violin (based on the chin brace as well as how Erich is playing it), which is actually incorrect. A “viol” is short for “viola da gamba,” which is, in short, a pegless cello, and in an interview or something (important thing is that it’s not said in the story itself), Lovecraft actually described Erich as being a cellist. However, most artists’ depictions of anything related to The Music of Erich Zann (including depictions of Zann) show him as playing a violin rather than a true viol, so that’s actually an understandable mistake on the AP authors’ part.

I feel like it's probably a confusion between Viol, a variant cello, and viola, a slightly large deeper violin. People read Viol and picture viola.

The cleric, who was cooling his heels in the Bag ladies room for the first half of the fight due to player absence saved the day. She had a spell prepped that wiped the fear off the two characters that fled to her first. She also manged to save against the fear aura and position herself well to lay out some group heals with channel positive before the tatterman moved in among the group. They also had Jenny Two-Tails pitch in with a swarm of rats (that did no damage, but effectively hedged the tatterman a bit) It was still a pretty grueling fight and the barbarian almost dropped, but they prevailed. They are now "safely" in Thrushmore, so on to thread number two

Had our next session. Nothing too exciting going on this time, working their way through the hallways with the doctors offices. They twigged to the creepy babies pretty quickly from the slime trail, and handled the ratlings with diplomacy, having met Ratch first and using their relationship with him to talk down the other. They settled on the idea of coaxing them into Losondros office to eat her books while they used the library.

One of the nurses could mention the archive where the players could find more information about Zandalus, since Dr. Losandro is known for taking notes on the patients and their treatments.

Crisis averted. The players dispelled the Devlin haunt/monster, then having solved the old lady haunt last session backtracked through the now cleared blood hallway and searched the archives (they are utterly convinced Red Destiny is cursed) and spent a lot of time mulling over the files for Zanadalus, themselve,s and the other ones i cribbed from further up this thread. They were a big hit. They then proceeded Losandro's office the back way, the rest of the session was trying to figure out what to do about this strange woman who appears to be belching fog. They eventually decided to spend a use of the incense of open mind to try to communicate with her since she wasn't able/willing to communicate otherwise. After a lot more inter-party discussion and arguing, they decided to put her out of her misery and we ended the session there.

They were still talking it over this morning on the group chat, so i think i'll mark that down as a success.

I'd be tempted to punish them a bit for leaving enemies at their rear, by having them run into an ambush or booby trap from the cultists or ratlings while backtracking through a "cleared" area. Preferably while beat up, out of spells, and looking forwards to a chance to rest.

After all, the rats are going to get hungry eventually, and the cultists aren't going to sit around in the records room forever.

I don;t really see how they can have even a basic understanding of whats going on without Losondro's diary. There no reasonable way for the cultists to have that information, and I don't really want Zandalus or The Tatterman to have to start monologueing.

Doppleman: Sounds like a great session(s)! One of my players is a bloodrager and she completely brute forced the fungus door puzzle. Shes also been responsible for killing every ghoul and all but one cultist on sight before they can even get a word out.

Grammatically, "their" refers the reader to "goblin adventurers." But the "destructive past" referred to here must belong to goblins generally rather than the goblin adventurers specifically.

It's in their past. For normal goblins, its not only in the past but also in the present.
That strikes the note of racial sin, which I'm really not a fan of and which I assumed was not the intention of the clause. Hence my comment.

ewveryone keeps making this argument about "NO one would trust a race thats eeevil" and it doesn;t make sense to me. Humans are still pretty roundly trusted, even though they are often horribly evil, and most of the foulest villians are human. If you don't think everyone would condemn the whole human race for the actions of their worse members, who would you expect everyone would do that to goblins.
