About Thortoren of Syrklist
Thortoren is a 5'5", dusky-skinned dwarf of the Phamet dwarves, that roam Osirion. He joined the Pathfinder society at the youth-full age of 48. Having served the Pathfinders on many missions over the years; faced death and been brought back to life, He has gained favor with the Dicemvirate. His missions now come directly from the Ten, independent of the chain of command; and his personal chronicler reports back directly to the Decemvirate.
These days Thortoren might be found settling into a semi-retirement. With the expertise Thortoren has gained in the area of alchemy, and prestige gained among the Pathfinders he has returned to the deserts of northern Garund. The Society has helped him set up his own business, in Thurvia. The modest alchemical shop can be found in the city of Lamasara, on the border with his home nation of Osirion.
Lamasara is known for its artisans and performers. It is also one of the locations of auction, for the Sun Orchid Elixir. While many of its greatest acts migrate with the sun orchid elixir, there is always music in the air of Lamasara, and light and laughter in the nights. Queen Zamere is considered to be the cleverest diplomat in Thuvia, and when a single voice speaks for the city-states, it is usually hers.
Day to day operation of the shop is left in the care of a seneschal, for Thortoren often can not be found at that location. With contacts in the local assassin and thieves guilds; Thortoren is able to protect his shop, stay apprised of any nefarious dealings, and gain information about most anything of interest happening in the desert nations.
Some of this information is gathered on the Citadel of the Alchemist, and House of Oblivion. Thortoren's days with the Pathfinders brought him into contact with such places. As a Riftwarden (Society Guide p62), Thortoren is charged with keeping an eye on the latter location. As Living Monolith (Osirion p22), paragon of Osirion justice, he can be called away, into the desert; to still the heart of a miscreant, comfort wayward souls, or scare off would be tomb robbers.
When encountered afield, he may be traveling by cart, pulled by mule, containing his alchemy lab. The pockets of his vest, adventurers sash, and Pathfinder pouch are filled with various alchemical materials and extracts. His true appearance may be disguised, but he dons leather armor w/ adamantine studs. He has a magical throwing axe tucked in the back of his belt of physical might. He wears a poison ring in which to coat the axe blade. And it is rumored that his wayfinder is trapped, w/ pioson, as well.
