"You will fall before us like all the rest, as you must. What the Lord wills, you may resist, but cannot triumph," the Ogon Fox replies aloud for all to hear. He descends into a wide-legged crouch and beckons for the fight to begin.

bite: 29 to hit for 16 damage misses against AC 30
41 to hit with grab would hit CMD 39, but this is tied to the bite, right? so since the bite missed, this doesn't apply?

24(nat 1) to hit with grab fails against CMD, but I think it didn't apply anyway since the claw missed

Johann advances on the war hound! He stops 10 feet away and strikes with his fangs.

The Fox smiles and nods at his friend, then shouts "Tsuku!" as he trails Johann's movement by leaping into a flying kick towards the warhound and following it with a series of jabbing punches.

"Tsuku" was the Japanese translation I found for attack/strike. The Fox has to get adjacent to the warhound to hit it, so he'll provoke an attack of opportunity if it has reach. He will still be adjacent to Johann (diagonally rather than side by side in the same row).

I am going to use Ally Shield! Johann and I both took this teamwork feat forever ago but haven't used it yet:

Ally Shield (Betrayal, Teamwork)

Source Champions of Corruption pg. 20
You are willing to use your allies as shields to ward off attacks aimed at you.

Benefit: Whenever you are the target of a melee or ranged attack and are adjacent to an ally who also has this feat, you can initiate this feat to skillfully pull the abettor into harm’s way or dodge behind the abettor as an immediate action. You gain cover against that attack (and only that attack). If the attack misses you but would have hit you if not for the cover bonus to your Armor Class, the abettor becomes the target of the attack and the attacker must make a new attack roll (with all the same modifiers) against the abettor’s Armor Class.

The cover bonus raises my AC to 34, making the attack a miss. Since it would have hit me without the cover bonus, Johann is now the target of the attack, but it needs to be rolled new.

Reflex vs the lightning breath DC 18: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31

The Fox skillfully dodges the young blue wyrm's lightning breath, and ducks behind Johann, as well, when a boulder is coming his way!

Reflex DC 30 vs fire breath: 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 15 + 2 = 25
The Fox is not quick enough, and the terrible flames cover him--but the ward from Flamel's potion holds true the entire gout!
Like Johann, 2 points left in my protection from fire.

The Fox drinks his potion of haste (provoking an attack of opportunity, assuming I'm within Wormwood's natural reach) and then speedily assumes a new position to flank the terrible dragon (probably provoking another AoO for that movement--my AC against that will be 34 instead of 30 because of Mobility).

With haste, my speed is 90 feet, so I should be able to get to whatever spot would be hardest for others to reach to set up flanking. MJ, maybe you can let us know who among us should get flanking bonuses from positioning now?

Fantasia in G Major, Bach Works Catalog 572

As the Ogon Fox begins to play, there is a whirlwind of activity. Stone pieces begin leaving the floors and walls of the cavern as if quarried by unseen workers, and moving all about, being assembled into new shapes forming a much lower ceiling. The speed at which this occurs is awesome, and the Fox moves and sways as he plays the organetto expressively.

Also, a side note: Fox will be going all-out, attempting Stunning Fist on every attack that he makes at full-BAB. Because if he can manage to stun Wormwood, then he gets two extra unarmed strikes on him from Medusa's Wrath.

Also, if anyone else can come up with a way to make Wormwood dazed, flat-footed, paralyzed, staggered, stunned, or unconscious, that will also allow Fox to get those two extra unarmed strikes.

Okay, here's the list of items Ogon Fox buys in Paris:
monk's robe (13,000)
belt of incredible dexterity +4 (16,000)
headband of inspired wisdom +4 (16,000)
wasp nest of swarming (1,000)
That leaves him with 186 gp, 6 sp, 3 cp in cash.

Now, here's the other thing--I think ol' Foxy should finally play these pipes of building that he's had since he won the organ performance contest!

We don't know we have 2 hours, but we know it can take as little as 30 minutes to accomplish something with this instrument (maybe you can make do with even less time than that, by just scaling down the effect appropriately).

Now the question, really, is what could we do? Some kind of fortifications to force Wormwood to come at us in a way we want, yeah?

By the time 2 hours pass, that will amount to labor equivalent to 100 men working for 12 days. I do have to pass a DC 18 Perform check for the 2nd hour; so if that fails we would get 6 days rather than 12. For estimating how much work can be done, I found this online:

Quote:
I'd suggest using the mining rules from the Races of the Dragon 3.5 book (page 98)....Those rules basically say that 2 unskilled man-days mines 1 5-foot cube of rock.

If we can take that as accurate and all we wanted to do was excavate stone, then our 100 men for 6 days = 300 5-foot cubes of rock excavated.

Phew! It's hard work trying to figure out how to be prepared for the coming battles.

I definitely have the cash to add an additional +1 (or equivalent, such as dragon bane) to my amulet of mighty fists (it's currently a vanilla +2). I might even be able to manage +2 additional instead of +1, though I would need to sell something to do that.

But instead of going for +2 on that, maybe I should do +1 and then grab a monk's robe. In that case, I'd still have gold left to spend, I think, but I'm not sure what else to do. Are there potions I should get? I just don't know will be helpful other than the obvious protection from fire which Johann already made sure we got.

Dragon bane will be super helpful against Wormwood, but after him I suspect we'll be fighting a mix of predominantly undead and evil outsiders (though I could certainly be leaving out other interesting enemy types!), and the dragon bane will cease to be useful. Hm...

I'm guessing we all would view his fight with Wormwood as a territorial dispute between dragons rather than a valiant defense of the Black Forest's denizens.

That said, it does raise the practical question of whether we're inviting greater destruction by removing the biggest barrier in the way of Wormwood burning the Black Forest (but we're also doing that if he goes to the fey realms, so it's too late for that!). It just doesn't do anything for the case of Grünerraver being repentant. =)

I am pretty sure I am the only one who drank an acid resistance potion, despite me going through the effort of buying them and distributing them to everyone.

Looking at my posts I see I neglected to actually say it in a gameplay post, but after MJ's post saying we had three rounds to work with I edited my alias profile and status line to reflect using the CL 10 potion of protection from acid that I had been carrying, as well as noting the acid resist 20 from Alphonse. I did not drink a potion of resist acid, because of Alphonse's spell.

Also, just a note for everyone--don't forget this line from protection from energy about its interaction with resist energy:

Quote:
Protection from energy overlaps (and does not stack with) resist energy. If a character is warded by protection from energy and resist energy, the protection spell absorbs damage until its power is exhausted.

So until your protection from acid pool of damage is used up, the resist acid doesn't have an effect.

"Es wird kein Abendessen für Sie geben!" cries the Fox as he begins to move. He moves off to the left of Alphonse, but not putting more than twenty feet between them. Then he waits for Grünerraver to close the distance.

I'm inclined to stay close together. People will be more likely to save for half damage on the dragon breath with that +4 bonus on saves (although it will overlap with whatever bonus people have from cloaks of resistance already), and we have these acid protections going.

"What a pleasure it is to finally meet you, Rapunzel," the Ogon Fox says when they first arrive at the tower. "It does my heart good to see you and Johann so happy together."

When Johann begins ushering them all out, the Fox gives him a wink and says, "Have fun!" before swiftly descending the tower.

SLAs require concentration. Perhaps a change from 3.5?

Quote:

Spell-Like Abilities (Sp): Using a spell-like ability works like casting a spell in that it requires concentration and provokes attacks of opportunity. Spell-like abilities can be disrupted. If your concentration is broken, the attempt to use the ability fails, but the attempt counts as if you had used the ability. The casting time of a spell-like ability is 1 standard action, unless the ability description notes otherwise.

Using a Spell-Like Ability on the Defensive: You may attempt to use a spell-like ability on the defensive, just as with casting a spell. If the concentration check (DC 15 + double the spell's level) fails, you can't use the ability, but the attempt counts as if you had used the ability.

Poof! The Fox becomes insubstantial, misty, and translucent, entering gaseous form! Gaseous Fox flies a very short distance away (5ft step using the 10ft fly speed).

An old SKR post clarified that they didn't think they should have to state explicitly that a gaseous creature can't be grappled. I can still be attacked (my AC is the same). I have DR 10/magic now, but I'd guess the attacks of a demon like this count as magic.

Concentration check to use this spell-like ability: 1d20 + 9 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 9 + 3 = 26
The DC is 13 + the Hezrou's CMB, so that looks like a fail.

The Fox tries to put a strange ki power to use, but the ability fizzles, his concentration disrupted by the huge demon tearing at him with claws and teeth!

Fox's fast movement bonus is +30 feet.

The Fox comes zooming through the air after Johann, kicking the first hezrou and following that with a flurry of punches!
kick: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (18) + 20 = 381d10 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 - 2 = 9

The Ogon Fox is leveled up!

My fast movement bonus went from +20 to +30, so I now have a movement speed of 60 feet.

I gained a new style strike, picking flying kick.

I gained improved evasion.

And for my feat I picked iron will.

I noticed that my power attack trade is -4/+8. That's a lot of potential damage on a flurry, but I haven't been using it because I don't feel like I have the best accuracy. I really ought to improve my Dexterity beyond 16...

Wait, is there a belt of dexterity +2 or something laying around that I have forgotten to actually add to my stats?

EDIT: Yes, there is! From February 4th:
