Bert has brown hair and blue eyes and is unremarkable. He is of average looks, seems to blend in to the crowd. He's spent the last few years as a guard in Riddleport, spending time trying to keep the peace as much as can be expected in Riddleport.

He once "saved" Professor Lorrimor's life while he was visiting the cyphermages in Riddleport. The story grows with each retelling. Chances are, Bert doesn't even remember the true story. But, the Professor must have remembered something about Bert, naming him in his will.

Bert has traveled from Riddleport, albeit slower than he might have wanted. Certain situations slowed him.

History:

Bert began his young life in Riddleport, where as a boy he joined a pirate ship as a cabin boy. Working his way up to sailor onbord, he soon excelled at using pikes and spears to defend the ship. Once the pirate captain made enough coin to become more "legit", Bert found himself in the Riddleport city guard. There he learned how to keep the "peace" and when it might be safer to allow things to happen as they might.Spending some time learning more about Desna, he started finding himself caring more about the people of Riddleport and trying to do more good, rather than just getting by. Once he found a scholar being set on by a group of boys and he assisted in helping the scholar get away from them, little did he know how much that act of "goodness" might change his life. Recently, he's been sickened by the amount of corruption within the city guards. A couple of decisions have furthered his shift to being much more "good".

Dark Secret:

ert was a Riddleport city guard. He ended up killing a well connected thug and another city guard, who was crooked, well more crooked than most. One of the crime bosses put a price on his head for killing the thug. The overlord put a warrant out for his arrest. In perfect timing the summons for Bert arrived and he skipped town as fast as he could. Not sure if that gives you some plot hooks, but he's got bounty hunters and some other nefarious people looking for him.
