Seeing his target emerge, Tendal quickly said "Braddon, allow me to place some protection on you before you head in." and then utilized the scroll at hand, sending a wave of protective magic towards the warrior. scroll of protection from evil

"Perhaps I should see if I can supress the spell on Braddon again...and we could remove him from Lil's presence?" Tendal suggested, pausing in his inspection (rummaging) of a small cabinet near the seating area after watching the ranger simpering all over Lil. A pleased sound issues from the mage, and he stands up with a decanter and a filthy glass. "facere effectum." he intoned, and then filled the now spotless crystal with wine, before swirling and tasting the wine. "Passable..." he muttered, then set the glass down and pulled out two scrolls, which he set before himself. Seeing Gristav and Snake on the wrong side of the door he frowns. "I was about to offer one of you a glass, but now I think that we have a rather serious problem if someone isn't in there with Lil and Braddon." Tendal intends to read the scrolls one after another to try and give Braddon an opportunity to break free of the spell, now that it is abundantly clear that the charm effect is not erased by the protection spell. Tendal tucked one scroll under his arm and kept the other out, ready to be read as he abandoned the decanter and moved towards the bedroom door, ready for the opportunity to use the scroll.

As soon as Lil moved beyond earshot, Tendal turned to the others with a grimace. "I will be blunt. Trusting that she will not stab us in the back the moment that she has the opportunity is beyond foolish. Convincing ourselves that we will see her duplicity in time to intervene is doubly so. This will end poorly, and that is all I will say about this matter, for the moment." Tendal turned away with finality, and began looking around the room for anything of interest. Tendal isn't so specialized that he cannot function in the wilderness. He likes his fine things, and would be forced to make disparaging remarks, but the idea of the effete snob in the wilderness makes me happy. Tendal also doesn't think that there is anyone qualified to figure out whatever is pulling starmetal down from the sky and disable it without it blowing up and/or pulling down something worse.

It is pretty amazing that we did finish. I am super duper sad though if we don't keep on in some capacity. I really have enjoyed playing with everyone. I got out of the military, got divorced, went to medical school, graduated, got married, have 2 kids, graduated residency and have my first post-military job in the course of this game. And I love the characters and our amazing DM!

"Everything she touches crumbles to dust, because she simply attempts to take...not one attempt to build something new." Tendal said quietly. "Your partner, is she pulling the metal from the ocean? Or is she only able to retrieve it when it lands on the island?" Tendal asked, continuing the hailstorm of questions.

"I am most interested in this pulling of skymetal." Tendal said smoothly, his voice as flat and cold as a sheet of ice on a northern lake. "Such magic is curious, rare, and precious in its own right...what calls the skymetal down from the sky? An artifact? The necklace?...Are the chunks of skymetal from the blot perhaps?" If she confirms...I will need to convince the others to find the power source responsible before more die. And she will die here. he thought with finality.

Tendal looked on the proceedings coldly. "As long as that woman draws breath, she cannot be considered defenseless." Tendal said dismissively with a slight rise in his eyebrow. "I doubt that anything that she says will be worth the breath she spills to utter it, but I will cede the floor to you Snake, lead the inquisition." he finished with a flourish towards Snake, belied by his rigid mien.

Tendal glanced over the assembled group, the cooling corpse on the floor, and the woman cowering in the corner. "I find it interesting Lil, that we started our acquaintance sitting across from one another, drinking wine. But instead of looking to build something new, as I was attempting to do, you continued to be fixated on revenge, on hatred, on being wronged. You had the whole city under your spell, and yet you squandered it." Tendal said, his voice cold and flat. "You, my dear, with your petty revenge, your prosaic rage, you are simply disappointing, and now I am bored with you." "If you have poison on your personage, and I assume you do, now would be the time to take your exit."

Tendal stumbled to his feet, head still ringing slightly from the clout that Braddon struck across his brow. intelligence, Braddon's behavioral change taking the other circumstances and Lil as a spellcaster into account: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
"Braddon, you struck me? What on earth possessed..." Tendal trailed off for the barest moment. "...you to strike me? You can see that she has magical protection upon her, I wasn't striking to harm her, merely to let her know that she is in our power. I can't believe that you, my companion whom I have been through so much with, and never crossed, would strike me in such a manner." Tendal moved forward, cane tucked under his arm, a handkerchief produced from a sleeve and pressed to his brow against the blood oozing profusely from his split brow. "I think its a terrible idea for you to stay behind, Braddon. But if you are adamant about this, then I will give you what protection I can before I depart and see to my head. You know the spell, I have used it before...it will keep you protected if some other agent attacks you with spells while you guard her." he finished, gesturing at Braddon and Lil with the now blood soaked hankerchief. Tendal rose and strode from where he had been seeking cover, up the stairs, past his comrades, with the confidence borne of calm calculation. His cane snapped from his hand, lashing out with arcane force, striking the foe where she cowered. "You should be honored." Tendal said drolly, as his cane snapped back into his hand. "We know enough of your machinations that even now, none of us trust you. Several of us wouldn't even trust you if your brains were dashed out against the lovely wood paneling. "Braddon, don't be foolish. Lil has always been our primary target. If you are unable to disable her, then you certainly should apprehend her for her own safety, such that she can be delivered to the authorities."Tendal interjected, attempting to re-engage Braddon in their mission. "Phillip, I will need you to lean this way for a brief second so I can enhance your weapon." Tendal continued. In the space of a bare moment, Tendal sketched out the required runes in the air, then swept his hand through the floating array, catching the magic onto his hand. "Telum augendae." he intoned. Then, when Phillip paused his strikes at the demon, Tendal tapped the wielded dagger. Magic Weapon, counts as magic +1 attack, +1 dmg

Tendal, finally seeing the way open moves as quickly as he can, passing by his allies and into the open space near the front of the house. It appears that she is trapped. The only way out is through us! Which, judging by the spell, she might be in the process of doing. Tendal straightens his collar, then turns to Gristav. "Friend Gristav, if you would be so kind to provide a prestidigitation before we advance, I would be thankful." "One should endeavor to provide a level of sophistication when mayhem may be soon afoot. Further, a disheveled appearance reduces opportunities for subtlety and misdirection."

Tendal continues to keep an eye out for any sign of watchers from the surrounds or the edge of the building to the south. "There have been two tsunami. The disruption to the city is grave, I am certain that gardens everywhere in Riddleport are of secondary concern at the moment. Regardless, we should be grateful."

"Friend Gristav, perhaps a leisurely stroll around the premises might first be advised to fully ascertain any complications that we might forthwith encounter." Tendal said, gesturing towards the north side of the property. "If the bay windows are facing the bay, the reverse of the property should be to the right...north I believe. A quick check of those three less visible sides, and removal of our personages from the well traveled foot path might be the best option." Tendal suggested.

Tendal is silent during this exchange, his face reverted to its normal stony mein. "There is something to be said for a disappearance rather than a capture or even outright murder." "The most likely way for us to survive this, is for us to not even be suspected, either through the application of machination or misdirection. I feel that we could add layers of complexity to our plans, such as opening the Gold Goblin, make our presence felt then skulk off to a rendezvous. Or simply we take advantage of the confusion in the city, and simply go to the mansion. In either regard I feel that we will need a cart, and instruments of an arsonist. The cart will be for the removal of a corpse to such location that it can be disposed of such that it will never be raised and none can ask questions of it. The additional materials are to reduce the mansion such that the corpse will not be found in the ashes. Confusion and flame can be our allies in escape as well." Tendal drummed his fingers on the counter idly. "I think it depends Gristav. Not so much on morality as on ease. If she is in the city, where we can make quick moves to remand her to authority, then I am for capture and placing her where death cannot. However if she is encountered in some safehold, far from the city, where she has ample time to attempt escape, then simple assassination would be the best option. Justice must be served one way or another."

"I imagine that the power blocks are consolidating, counting their losses and attempting to regain some semblance of order." Tendal said, staring off into the middle distance. "I find it frustrating that we simply have to wait for the others to complete their tasks before we make our further plans. I know that I needed to get some work done, but still..." he raised his hand and mug in a helpless gesture. "I don't imagine that you ran into any of our other employees here?" he asked obliquely, after a few moments of silence in the kitchen.

Tendal put away the completed scroll with a sigh, stretched and eyed the two meager bottles of wine on the shelf. Perhaps for another time, there is still work ahead of us. he thought, then left his room looking for some sort of refreshment, locking the door behind himself. Hearing voices from the kitchen, Tendal moved forward cautiously, his cane readied, then hearing familiar voices, he straightened, straightened his doublet and moved into the warmth of the room. "Good day Phillip. How is the city, and were you successful in your endeavors?" he started, then caught a whiff of a potent comestable.
