Archena chuckles a little bit. "Yeah, that never really stopped me."

She holds up a few of her fingers to her glass supplies. "I was gonna do some sculpting, but I think I wanna try doing my nails with this. Can't be too hard, right?"

Taika Niyambi wrote:
"I can't imagine it is, no. It's just brushing paint on to something after all."

[i]Brushing paint proved to be much more difficult than Taika initially thought, which didn't make sense and frustrated her. She carved with oiled tools and slipped up less often than this! She'd lost track of the times she'd had to burn off a coat off.[i]

"I do not think I'm suited to this kind of thing at all...."

"I can't imagine it is, no. It's just brushing paint on to something after all."

"It's not really hard. Kids down here get to be happy and try out the things they want to do instead of being pushed towards a certain oath. For a little while at least. Gives me a bit of hope for my little brother to grow more social."

"So," she asks, changing the subject, "what is this idea of yours? You have me interested."

Archena Surya wrote:

Another lady firebird was undertaking a similar activity a few minutes later, passing by the assembly with a jar full of colored glass rods and tools in one hand and a small, handheld blowtorch in the other. She stops to watch the show for a moment.

Archena has earthy, clay-colored hair and deep tan skin, a strange combination for a human but fairly common among Firebirds. However, uncommonly, the hands she grips her supplies with have long, talon-like nails and an almost scale-like texture leading into slight, sparse plummage on her forearms. She's currently wearing a paint splattered T-shirt with the sleeves cut short and the main shirt cut above her midriff, and a pair of high waisted jean shorts. No shoes.

Taika noticed the new audience member and she did her best not to let on anything was different for the kids. She announced, with a smile, that the ball was done and the pottery wheel was no longer needed. This met some bemoaning but she quieted that with a snap of her fingers that caused a little flame to appear above one.

She had the children spread out in a circle and picked one at random to put the drying claw ball down in front of. The flame was put to the tiny hole and instantly emerald smoke began to pour out.

"Roll it around the circle. It's safe, but if you can get it going fast enough it might just change colors. Don't skip anyone." She added before cleaning off the wheel and looking to Archena as the kids began rolling the ball around to try and get the smoke to change.

"If I had to guess, you're going to do some glass blowing, right?"

Taika Niyambi had, for a while now, found herself wandering the halls looking for something to do. This had culminated in one of the art rooms and the procurement of a pottery wheel and some clay, which she dragged out into the garden with the help of some of the younger students she'd told she was going to do make something they would never expect.

Now she sat out in the gardens in front of a handful of little students who were watching her make the clay spin as she used her fingers to carve pieces out or grooves in. As some of the water flicked off the wheel and splashed them the kids missed her slipping a powder into the ball she was making before almost closing it up.

It kinda works since the amalgam-man was talking about blending two similar classes in gestalt...?

Guys, guys! Vis is in a game called Summoners War and I found fanart of him and the Phoenix!

Sounds like you'll need some help with that.

Vis Niyambi wrote:
"I hope so. This place seems rather welcoming, so far."

"It really has been so far." She agrees. Taika takes the marble Vis helped carve and put it in his hand. "Keep it. I think lunch is almost over too, so you might want to head to class."

Which Vis post should I reply to?

"Not used to praise much, are you?" She says with a grin.

vis shakes his head.

"Not at all. I just hid in the basement and did my own thing."

"Well, no need to hide around here. We're free!"

"Not used to praise much, are you?" She says with a grin.

Taika picks it up to inspect, and ruffles Vis's hair.

"Good job, little brother."

"No, for them to anything you need the right reagents. Kind of like needing ingredients to make good food, I guess. The carvings help the reagents store the energy and keep making it how the creator wanted it to work."

Taika sits down in front of her desk with a piece of green glass the size and shape of a large marble. She takes out her tools and explains as best she can each step of the process she uses, keeping her few key tricks to herself. She even lets Vis try carving the right marks on the glass, though a round surface is more difficult than paper.

"If we had the time, I'd actually enchant this so it would float around your head and provide light when you wanted it too."

"I guess. Anyway, want to see how i work? Actually making something takes takes at least forty-five minutes for me, but just explaining shouldn't be too hard."

"Nothing to be sorry about, but she'll keep looking for it. Silly little construct is nothing like me at all, somehow."

Vis Niyambi wrote:

"She's kinda amazing."
vis remains entranced, smiling at the creature. It's reslly amazing.

"Aw, now you've done it." She chuckles while Arma makes happy sounding clicks. "She loves praise, but I try not to spoil her too much."

Vis Niyambi wrote:

vis holds the creature, looking it over in his hand.

"Wow."
he whispers, utterly fascinated by arma.
"H-hello."
he says, realizing he never acutally returned her greeting.

The Homunculus waves again, watching its creator brother curiously while Taika got to work collecting what she'd need for a small bauble.

"What do you think if Arma, Vis?"

With a nod from Taika, Arma hops on the outstretched hand.

"She doesn't talk much, but Arma is what's called a Homunculus. She's pretty protective of me, but is a great help when I need to get things in a hurry. She likes you though."

"We'll find out. Come on, I've managed to make a little workplace in my room, I'll show you how I make stuff."
vis quietly rolls up his page of practice symbols, puts it away, and stands up, ready to go.

Taika takes her brother's hands and walks out to the hall where she lights up the arrows to her room. When the get there she opens the door and walks in, holding up her arm for the tiny metal humanoid that lands on it and waves at Vis.

"Have you met Arma before?"

"No idea, that's the fun part."
vis looks at tiaka with a questioning look.

"We'll find out. Come on, I've managed to make a little workplace in my room, I'll show you how I make stuff."

I've got a homunculus if that counts.

I make all kinds of stuff.

"Yeah. It's no big deal. Just some old knowledge."

Arthur Barren wrote:

Do you want gold (or other precious metal/gem/trade good), imperial credit, or favors.

I can do any of those

Tell you what. You pay the cost of materials(half the price to add ghost touch), like normal crafting, and one favor. Gems will be fine payment.

Arthur Barren wrote:

eg ghost touching

As long as you pay me well.

"So you time travel now do ya? Vissy, you make my fiddling with with metals look like child's play. Don't grow up bad, 'Kay? You're too good for that."

"Now that is a neat trick." She admits, watching. "How'd you learn to do this, lil' Vissy?"

"Sounds right to me. I don't really get much of how mages and priest use magic anyway."

"If you're done eating, sure." She replies, draining her drink quickly.

vis takes out a piece of paper. He takes out a pen, and begins writing. In only a few seconds, a full prayer scroll is made.

Taika watches quietly and attentively, not letting her attention waver. This actually interested her a bit.

"So this is a full one then?"

"If you're done eating, sure." She replies, draining her drink quickly.

"I don't think so. Course, it's not like I showed you my workshop secrets anyway."

"Sometimes, but I'm used to it by now. You're my brother after all."

That might be my weirdest post with any character in quite some time.

he mutters, as he continues to draw.
"Either you are or I am. I think the food is the same though." She glances at his paper and pauses. "What's that? The symbol, I mean."

"It's one of the symbols for my prayer scrolls."

he continues writing/drawing them, obsessively keeping them as precise as possible.
"And I supposes that means I should go, hunh..."
vis sighs a little.

"Nah, you can stay. It's not like anyone has come up to tell us one of us is in the wrong lunchroom anyway." She points out. "So what's the symbol mean?"

"No problem, Vissy." She ruffles his hair after he takes his drink and sits close as she gets her tiny sketch pad out and begins drawing almost idly, sipping at her drink as she does.

Taika gets up and comes back with two cups of hot kerosene, including a straw for Vis, and sits down again to spend time with her little brother.

"Tell you what, how about I get you some nice kerosene and we forget about the infernals for now? You can draw, I can draw, it'll be fun."

"And you said internals earlier too. Don't woryy about it." She smiles, patting his back. "You're seven, words can be hard sometimes."

"Then we should go around asking the ones here if they're moral compass points north. Easy solution to your nervousness."
