Okay, I'm prepping the second part of Whispers in the Wind and the first part of On th World's Roof right now and as I understand it, Silas Vekker's ledger, or at least the 5 pages in question contain so much information, burried in a wall of text in the AE, that it would be easier to present it in form of a handout.

Which I'm willing to do.

However, as usual, I came here to see if someone else had the idea and all I can find is a post by Russell Akred in the Spires of Xin-Shalast (GM Reference) thread from 2008, with a link that doesn't seem to be available anymore.

Is there a reason, why no one else did this? Am I completely wrong with my assumption that those 5 pages would make a great handout? After all, Tsuto's journal contained less information and a lot more people went and customized it. What am I missing?

I guess that not that many people get that far in the AP for this to play a role, and even if, perhaps there is some exhaustion with the AP at this point, so nobody wanted to go that extra mile.

If you prepare that as a handout, I´d love to see it.

I did, but in German. Since there seemed to be no reaction to my question I didn't bother doing an English version

Hello there! Huge necro here but! if you happen to have that file (in German is fine!) I would like to ask you if you could share it with me please! Thank you!

Hello everybody!
So, I am a GM, starting Book 2 with my party of 4 and I am already starting to split the Haunts at Foxglove Manor among the PCs. As they are only four, I am having some problems in getting it right and balanced.
So far this is what I have come up with:

  • Festering Haunt: to the Blight Druid, for obvious reasons.
  • Insane Haunt: to the reckless Rogue who often picks the most dangerous choice.
  • Vengeful Haunt: to the Inquisitor who wants to avenge a friend fallen to the Brothers of the Seven.
  • Wrathful Haunt: to the Wizard, as she is the only woman in the group.
Now, the main problem is that the Obsessed and Burning Haunts are left unassigned. The problem with the first one is that Aldern's Obsession was a fighter who he had fallen in love with. The fighter died in Thistletop and was replaced by the inquisitor. As a consequence, Aldern's lust turned to wrath against the PCs who "let his love die without defending her", so the other three. I am not sure if I want three of the four members to get an additional Haunt. At the same time, the Burning Haunt in the Observatory is too dangerous to be affecting all/most of the members of the party at once and might result in a partial TPK.

TL:DR: two unassigned haunts at Foxglove Manor are too dangerous to be made universal.

That said, there is enough suspicious about that hallway (especially the CL 20 major image )

If the major image is Karzoug's, they still need to get past the coin pillar to find it, and apart from the obvious clash with Malfeshnekor, that is actually what I really want them to find, as it foreshadows Karzoug as a character (especially since it portrays him as long dead).

Anyway, maybe I will insert some clues in Nualia's notes and follow your and Wibs' advice. Thank you!

Thank you! I had thought about having Shalelu finding it, but I did not want them to feel over helped in that. Also, I am not sure that I want her to be there that much anymore. I think she would make the fight against the barghest way too easy.

Hi everyone!

Background:
I am currently GMing a ROTRL campaign and the PCs are in Thistletop at the moment. They wiped out most goblins, killed Bruthazmus, Orik, Lyrie and Nualia and basically everyone else. A bit spent they found Shalelu maxing them up with her wand of cure light wounds and in the last session they have killed the tentamort and the hermit crab. They will probably make camp in the treasury using the shadows as watchdogs in case someone arrives.

My problem is: they have all failed the Perception check to see the coin holes near the fake coin pillar. I really want them to find the cool Karzoug room and to fight the barghest. At the same time I don't want to push them into it.

What should I do?

tl:dr: players failing to notice hidden door. What now?
